    Biography:
    GERRITS, Martin was born in Holland in 1822; in 1848 he came to this country and settled in Little Chute the same year, where he resided until his death. He was married to Elizabeth Gisbers in 1851; Mrs. Gerrits died in March, 1895; they have 13 children, seven of them died previous to 1882. Linda Gerrits was married in 1884 to C. H.L. Hamer, who is now and has been for several years clerk of the city of Kaukauna; they have 2 children. First child, Peter Gerrits born in 1861. Second son, John Gerrits born in 1862; married to Mury Smith in 1892. Thid, Minnie Gerrits, born in 1864; married to John Lamers in 1886; they have 5 children. Fourth, Fred Gerrits, born in 1868. Fifth James Gerrits, born in 1869; married Dora Peters in 1892; they have 1 child. Martin Gerrits was a prominent citizen; he filled several town offices with great ability and taught school in Little Chute many years and was much respected by all his neighbors.     Gerritts Services Funeral services for Fred Gerritts, 92, charter member and former chief ranger and, speaker of the Little Chute Catholic Order of Foresters, will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. John Catho- lic church, Little Chute, with burial in the parish cemetery.     Obituary:
    Stanley Hamer, aged 43 years, passed away at the home of his sister, Miss Mayne Hamer, 161 W. Wisconsin ave., Saturday morning after a three week illness. He was born in this city, March 1, 1899 and lived here all his life. He attended Holy Cross parochial school.
    Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Herman Dix of Kimberly, Mrs. Lawrence Hebeler of Appleton; Ramona and Priscilla of Kaukauna; one son, Connie of Kaukauna; five brothers, Charles and Peter Wrubleski of South Bend, Indiana; Stephen and Leo of Ontario, Canada; and Edward Wrubleski of Neenah; four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Hamilton and Mrs. Helen Andrews of Chicago; Mrs. Martin DeBruin and Miss Hamer of Kaukauna; and three grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from Fargo funeral home and at 9 o'clock from Holy Cross Catholic church with Rev. Peter J. Grosnick officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Clifford Brandt, James McMorrow, Jule Mertes, Harold Verkuilen, Frank Kroll and Harold Kiffe.

    Rosemary Playman, age 89, of Appleton, died on Thursday, April 24, 2008, after a short illness at Rennes Health Center. She was born on September 21, 1918, in Little Chute, to Frederick and Gertrude Gerritts. Rosemary married William Playman on October 4, 1941, recently celebrating 66 years of marriage.
    She was a member of St. Bernard Parish, Appleton. Rosemary attended Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, and was an active member of the King's Daughters, Century Club, and many school and parish organizations.
    She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; two loving daughters: Susan (James) Haase and Mary (Robert) Moran; grandchildren: Robert (Christine) Moran, Meghan Moran and William Haase; great-grandchildren: Matthew and William Moran; and many nieces and nephews.
    Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Isabelle (Joseph) Conrad and Clara (Frank) Dittmer; her brothers: George (Adelle) Gerritts and Richard (Catherine) Gerritts; and granddaughter, Jamie Haase.
    The funeral liturgy for Rosemary will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. The burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Bernard Catholic Church are appreciated.

She was born in Kaukauna on June 13, 1920 to the late Stanley and Lucille (Moser) Hamer. On June 14, 1941 she married Larry Hebeler. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha and loved her rose garden.

    DeDecker, Priscilla A. (Hamer)
    Priscilla A. (Hamer) DeDecker, Appleton, age 84, passed away at Cherry Meadows in Appleton with her family surrounding her on Thursday, December 6, 2007. She was born on March 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Stanley and Lucy (Moser) Hamer. Percy graduated from Appleton West High School in 1943. On September 30, 1944, she married her husband of 63 years, Ralph DeDecker. Percy was a "Domestic Engineer" and was a proud mother of 10 children. She loved being in the outdoors, particularly tending to her flower gardens. Her favorite flowers were Roses and African Violets, for which she had a green thumb. Percy also spent much of her time volunteering her time with local Catholic schools.
    Percy is survived by her husband, Ralph; 10 children; 28 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson and granddaughter; a brother; and two sisters.
    The memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2007, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
    The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Nancy Lindo-Drusch and the staff at Cherry Meadows and Theda Care at Home for their loving care of Mom.
    A memorial fund in Percy's name is being established.

    Ramona (Mona) Hamer Krause died on Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a very brief illness. She is with her God, the center of her life. She was born on September 12, 1928 as the youngest of 6 children to Stanley and Lucille (Moser) Hamer. She married Donald Krause on September 24, 1949 and had 4 children, Nancy, Tim, Julie and Rich.
    Mona, losing her parents at a young age, was passionate about family. She organized many family reunions, with great games for the 31 cousins. Mona also used her creative talents with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and special events at St. Joe's. When Don died at 48, Mona found great solace in her grandchildren, taking them on adventures in area parks, always managing to get lost, while playing their favorite songs on the 8 track in her car. Each one of the kids got a special trip with Grandma for their 8th grade graduation. As the grandchildren married, she waited for her great grandchildren to come for holidays and her birthday. There are many pictures of GG (Great Grandma) in costume with the kids or organizing games in her backyard and basement. Her parish was central in her day to day life after retiring from Shannon Office Supply. She was a Sacristan, sang in the funeral choir and attended daily Mass.
    She was an active member of The Third Order of St. Francis and enjoyed many friendships with those who knew the Lord, as she did. She took up public speaking in her 70's, promoting the File of Life program. And had a special ministry of taking Communion to the sick at St. Elizabeth Hospital and praying with them.
    She is survived by her children, Nancy Bourassa and her children, Chris and Nicole Bourassa and their son, Connor, Sarah Bourassa and husband Frank Herd and Drew and Heidi Bourassa and their kids, Ali, Oliva and Emma; Tim and Kathy Krause, his children Dan and Michele Krause, their children Matthew and Madysen, Michael and Lindsey Krause, their children Peyton and Collin, Tony, David and Trevor; Julie and Dale Nemitz and son Aaron and wife Jessie; Richard and Nancy Jo Krause and children, Alyssa Whitlinger and her children, Rosie Jo and Nomie and Nick Krause; and special friend, Sarah Lynn Voet. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, David and his wife, Carolyn, sister-in-law Peg Hamer, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, his parents, Florence and Reinhold Krause, siblings and spouses, Virginia and Herman Dix, Belle and Larry Biechler, June and Larry Hebeler, Connie Hamer and Percy and Ralph DeDecker. She had also lost several nieces and nephews.
    She has left us all with many wonderful memories and stories. She will be missed by all who knew her.
    Funeral liturgy for Mona will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary officiating the service.     Age 81, died early Tuesday morning, March 27, 2001, with his family at h is side, following a short battle with cancer. He was born November 4, 191 9, in Little Chute, son of Martin J. and Janet (Hotchkiss) Lamers. Tom mar ried Dorothy Look, July 23, 1946, at Saint John Catholic Church, Little Ch ute where he was a lifetime member. Tom owned and operated Lamers Hardwa re in Little Chute. He joined the Little Chute Fire Department in 1946 a nd was chief of the department from 1970 until 1986. He was the fire inspe ctor for more than 10 years prior to his retirement in 2001. Tom was pa st president of the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, past preside nt of the Fox Valley Fire Chiefs Association and past president of the Wis consin Firemen's Association. He was voted "Fireman of the Year" by the Wi sconsin Council of Firemen's Association in 1963. He was a member of the J acob Corpus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute; the Knights of Columb us; the Marion Rosary Group and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoy ed fishing, golfing, gardening and cherished the time he spent with his fa mily and especially his grandchildren.

He returned to Wisconsin in 1946 and began a 40 year career with Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Neenah as a design and project engineer.
    On June 15, 1946, Jim married his college sweetheart, Janis Kessler, in Green Bay. They were blessed with three children, daughter, Judith Allyson, and twins Scott Charles and Jill Angela.
    After retiring from K-C, Jim enjoyed taking jaunts around Wisconsin, golfing, volunteering, and especially spending time with family members, until a bad fall in 1993 severely limited his activities. In 1995, Jim and Jan moved to Evergreen Retirement Community, where he served on the Resident's Council, one term as President, and continued other volunteer work.
    Those left to mourn Jim's passing are his wife, Jan Smith, Oshkosh; a daughter, Judi (fiance, John Curtis) Smith, Wadesboro, North Carolina; a son, Scott (Debbie) Smith, Sturtevant, Wisconsin; a granddaughter, Abigail Smith, Sturtevant, Wisconsin; and many other relatives and friends.
    Preceding Jim in death are his parents; a daughter, Jill Clausen; a brother, Don Smith; and a nephew, Gary Smith.
    A memorial service honoring Jim's life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evergreen Retirement Community.     David W. "Dave" Austin, age 89, Kaukauna, (formerly of Little Chute) passed away Friday January 6, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Little Chute on February 5, 1927 to the late Frank E. and Clara (Lamers) Austin and resided there until 2015.
    He was a 1944 graduate of St. John High School and served in the U. S. Army during W. W. II.
    While attending Marquette University in Milwaukee, he met his life soul mate Edna M. Fuhrman.
    They were married September 25, 1948 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Milwaukee, raised 11 children and celebrated 52 years of marriage at the time of Edna's passing in 2000.
    David was employed for 40 years in Menasha by John Strange Paper Co., Menasha Corporation and U. S. Paper Mills as Personnel Director, also serving as Safety Manager, Traffic Manager, Converting Manager, Raw Materials Purchasing Agent and Labor Relations Manager. He was also instrumental in the startup of the John Strange Paper employees Credit Union and served as secretary for 18 years.
    David was a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church, American Legion Post 258 (70 years) and Fox Valley Golf Club.
    He enjoyed camping, fishing, golf and the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
    David is survived by his children and spouses: Sue (Paul) Vanevenhoven, Pat Austin, Jeff (Pat), Mike (Nancy), Ned (Sadie), Tim (Judy), Tom (Betty), and Jim Austin.
    He is further survived by 58 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Mary Ann Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    David was preceded in death by his wife Edna; sons: Todd, Steve, Jay and Paul; his parents: Frank and Clara Austin; brothers: Frank and Richard Austin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie and Jane Austin, Esther and Arlye Long, Alice and James Jolin, Bernadine and George Fuhrman, Arnold Fuhrman; mother and father-in-law: Theresa and Herman Fuhrman; and 2 grandchildren.

    Richard John Gerritts, 80, Minocqua, died Friday, March 28, 2008, surrounded by his family in the care of Friendly Village Nursing Home, Rhinelander. Richard was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Portage, Wis., the son of John R. and Grace (Cummings) Gerritts of Kimberly, Wis. He graduated from Kimberly High School and attended St. John's University and Milwaukee Business Institute. He also graduated from Toastmaster International and the Dale Carnegie Institute. Richard served with the United States Navy during World War II. Upon finishing his schooling, he was employed by Chain Belt Company for five years in production control before becoming an outside salesman for Shadbolt and Boyd Company covering Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for 34 years while living in Merrill, Wis. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Gladys, moved to Minocqua, Wis. While living in Merrill, Richard served as a voluntary Director of the Merrill Youth Center for a number of years and also as voluntary chairman of the Merrill Go Round Transit System. He also served on the Merrill School Board and was involved with the Boy Scouts in various capacities from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouts for 26 years. He was a WIAA football official and an assistant basketball coach for the Catholic grade school for a number of years.
    Richard is survived by his sister, Doris VanderLoop, Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Robin (Emil) Nazzaro, Lake Ridge, Va.; two sons, Douglas (Kathy), Strum, Wis., and Reverend John, Rhinelander; four grandchildren, Michael Nazzaro, Lake Ridge, Va., Misty (Bob) Prestwood, Holmen, Wis., Anna and Lara Nysven, Strum; and one great-grandchild, Emili Prestwood, Holmen.
    Dick is preceded in death by his father and mother and his loving wife of 46 years.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2008, at 12 p.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, St. Joseph's site with Father John Gerritts officiating. Interment will be in Minocqua Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at the church on Monday morning.

    Doris Vander Loop passed away on May 18, 2012. She was born in Marinette, WI to John R. Gerritts and Grace (Cummings) Gerritts on September 19, 1931. Her mother died when she was three years old. Doris and her older brother Richard were raised by Winifred Gerritts, her beloved stepmother who gave her two little sisters. Doris graduated from Kimberly High School in 1949 and attended Saint Kate's College. Doris married Robert A. Vander Loop on November 27, 1952 at Holy Name Church in Kimberly. They were married for 54 years until Robert's death in 2007. Bob and Doris moved to Azusa, CA in 1960 and raised their children there. Doris was involved in all things that her kids were involved in - Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, Little League. Doris loved being a mother. Bob and Doris moved to Henderson, NV to enjoy their Golden Years. Doris died in Henderson, NV one week after her son Robbie's death. Doris is survived by her sons John, David and Daniel Vander Loop and her daughters Judy Turnquist and Lisa Aker, her two sister Judy Canter and Mary Stusek, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sons James and Robbie and her brother Richard. She was a loving caregiver to her son Robbie for many years. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. Her service will be June 2, 2012 at 11:30 at Forest Lawn, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA. 91724.

    Linda M. Bushman, age 58, of Oshkosh, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Linda was born September 1, 1950, in Appleton, the daughter of June (Hamer) Hebeler, Menasha, and the late Larry Hebeler. She was a Fox Valley resident all of her life, and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, listening to the Beatles, and taking road trips with her son, Matt.
    Survivors include her mother, June; her son, Matthew (Kristy) Hebeler, Neenah; granddaughter, Mya Hebeler; and grandson, Alex Gering; seven sisters and brothers: Pat (Steve) Schmidt, Hazelhurst, Joan Hebeler, Mary (Mark) Boelter, and Larry Hebeler, all of Appleton; Jim Hebeler, John Hebeler, and Bob Hebeler, all of Menasha; two nephews: Greg (Dawn) Schmidt, and their daughters, Olivia and Addison, and Tony (Nici) Schmidt.

    Little Chute - Thomas P. Lamers, age 76, of Little Chute, passed away after a lengthy battle with a disease called POEMS Syndrome, on August 10, 2018. He was born in Little Chute, son of the late Jack and Katherine (Evers) Lamers. He Attended St. John High School.
    Tom married his wife of 37 years, Deb Van Hammond on July 10, 1981. Before becoming ill, they did some traveling to Hawaii, Bahamas and several cruises. The golf trips to the Bahamas with good friends were his favorite. Tom worked for UPS for 31 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960-1968. He loved sports, including softball, golf, bowling and horseshoes. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan.
    Tom is survived by his loving wife, Deb; four daughters: Sara (Paul) Pederson, Beth (Paul) Hoffman, Jill Damrau and Lisa (Chris) McRae; 9 grandchildren: Nicole, Alexa and Matt Pederson, Hannah and Sadie Tourville, Stephanie and Emma Winske, Michael and Chloe McRae; siblings: Jan (Ron) Hietpas, Jay (Kay) Lamers and Linda (fiance John Schroeder) Hammen; brothers-in-law: Dave (Jean) Van Hammond and Don (Louise) Van Hammond; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kate Lamers; father and mother-in-law: Bud and Wilma Van Hammond; and a brother-in-law, Doug Hammen.
    A celebration of Tom's life will take place at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service and Military honors performed by the American Legion Post #258 will conclude the evening.     Jacqueline "Jackie" Stumpf, 63, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on December 14, 2012.
    Jackie was born on September 25, 1949 to Richard and Jayne (Schuler) Austin. Jackie married Jim Stumpf in September of 2003. She was a loving and dedicated mother and will be greatly missed by her family. Jackie enjoyed her dogs, spending time on her computer and was really looking forward to her first great grandchild.
    Jackie is survived by her three children; Mike (Missi) Knutson, Jodi Knutson, and Ryan Nabbefeld, all of Combined Locks, two grandchildren; Allyssa Aykens, and Mackenzie Mader, her siblings; Jill (Dennis) Kroner and Rick Austin, nieces and nephews; Kelly Devalk, Chad Kroner, Jesse Kroner, Ali Reimer and Brooke Austin, other relatives and friends. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jim.
    A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly.

    Paul J. Austin, Appleton (formerly of Little Chute), age 55, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born in Appleton on May 12, 1961 to David and Edna (Fuhrman) Austin. Paul served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a journeyman plumber.
    Paul is survived by his son: Joshua; daughter: Amanda Murray and her children, Layla and Harleigh; and Nancy (Huntley) Austin, mother of his children.
