Obituary:
Barbara Lee Mathis Kaukauna Age 65, passed away on June 20, 2014 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. She was born on July 25, 1948 in Appleton, the second daughter of the late Vincent and Veronica (Kroeger) Hartzheim. Barb worked as a waitress at her parents restaurant, "The Grill". She was a graduate of Kaukauna High School, class of 1966. She then went on to nursing school at "The Cradle" in Evanston, IL. She worked in the art field for many years until her health issues prevented her from doing so. Barb was a fun, loving person that always had a smile on her face and enjoyed joking around with people. She will be dearly missed. Barb's passion in life were her grandchildren and she always had pictures with her to show to whoever she might run into. She enjoyed her many craft projects that kept her busy. She always looked forward to playing scrabble and enjoyed life by spending it with her many different groups of friends.
Barbara is survived by her daughter: Michelle (Robert) Kobussen and their children: Joshua and Ashlyn of Kaukauna; her son: Mark (Camella) Mathis and their children: Jacob and Derek of Mississippi; sisters: Sharon Jansen (special friend Larry Frankze), Donna Van Schyndel (special friend Steve Krohlow), Vicki (Tom) Dreissen, numerous nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, her best friend Mary Huss, her "adopted mother" LaVerne Goetzman, special friends Pat Van Linn and Pauline Krueger, her card club gang, several treasured friends from high school, and her many friends she had made during her working days. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Allen and Craig Hartzheim, and special friends Gail Balthazor and Joni Heilman.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH @ ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Av., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Barbara's name is being established.
A special thank you to all the staff at St. Paul Elder Services and Villa for all their care and help through the past few years as it is greatly appreciated.
