Obituary:
Doris Lopas, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, October 1, 2011. Doris was born in Kimberly on May 21, 1924, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (LeClair) Jansen. Doris and Merlan Lopas were married in Dubuque, Iowa on May 28, 1949. Merlan preceded Doris in death in January of 2008.
Doris was a member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church for over fifty years. She was a honorary member of Ladies Aid and a past member of the Altar Guild and the Dorcas Society.
Doris is survived by two sons: James (Kathy) Lopas of Marco Island, Florida and Jeffrey (Janet) Lopas of Appleton; a step-daughter; Sylvia King of Appleton; four grandchildren: Michael Lopas of Tampa Bay, Ryan Lopas of Appleton, Jeremy (Jennifer) Probst of Oshkosh, and Eric Probst of Greenville; an "adopted" granddaughter: Kym; three step-grandchildren: Roxanne (William) Martin of Appleton, Jean King of Appleton, and Royal King of Appleton; a great-granddaughter: Kenlyn Probst; and five step-great-grandchildren: Colin, Zanna, Gina, Mariah, and Elora. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merlan, and by two brothers and two sisters.
Mom, as you were always there for us, you will always be in our hearts and prayers. We know that you are in a better place with dad, your fishing partner, best friend and true love. We want to thank you for your encouragement, faith and guidance throughout our years. Your heart and soul were always the firm anchors we could draw strength from. Our sons shared your strength and love, and were blessed to have you as their grandmother.
The Christian Funeral for Doris will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason Street in Appleton, with Rev. Paul Schuler officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Wichmann Funeral Home
