    Ellenbecker, Shirley I. (Mrs. J ohn)Shirley I. Ellenbecker, age 84, passed away at her home on Front St., wi th her family by her side, on Tuesday, January 3, 2006. Shirley was born S eptember 2, 1921, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Ernest "Nemo" Turt on and Nina (O'Connell) Turton. She has resided in Appleton all of her li fe and was a 1939 graduate of Appleton High School. Following graduatio n, Shirley attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI. She was unit ed in marriage to John Nicholas Ellenbecker in 1943, sharing 44 years toge ther before his death on May 20, 1987. Shirley loved dining out with fami ly and friends. In later years she enjoyed traveling, playing cards with h er daughter Nina, and watching old movies. Her special joy was her grandch ildren and she always looked forward to spending the holidays with her fam ily.
    Shirley was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church.She will be deeply missed by her three children: Nina Ellenbecker of Apple ton, Mary Ellenbecker of Appleton and her son John Ellenbecker-Schuh, a nd Anne (Daniel) Meyer of Green Bay and their children Carolynn, Patric k, Kathryn, and Matthew.In addition to her parents and loving husband John, Shirley was preced ed in death by her devoted son Joe.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7 th at St. Mary Catholic church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Fr. Micha el O'Rourke officiating. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Le derer Funeral Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday and then directly at the chur ch from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. Burial will take p lace at St. Mary's Cemetery.Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Affinity H ospice, Fr.     Appleton - Mary M Ellenbecker, 66, passed away peacefully on Sat. Feb. 3, 2018 at Cherry Meadows Hospice following a short battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 26, 1951 to the late John and Shirley (Turton) Ellenbecker in Appleton. Mary graduated from St. Norbert College and obtained her master's degree from UW Oshkosh in Education. She was a devoted and beloved teacher who spent over 37 years in the Appleton Public School District. The latter years were spent as an art teacher at Appleton West High School. Mary was a blessing to every life she touched; so sweet, caring and loving. Her positive personality, good natured morals, and independence were just a few of her best qualities. She was passionate about her students and teaching and made many lifelong relationships with her students and fellow teachers.
    In her spare time, Mary was a talented artist, loved to garden and was a member of St. Mary Parish Church. She most enjoyed her time spent with her son John and the fun times they had together, including trips to the casinos.
    She will be greatly missed by her son, John Schuh and his girlfriend, Brittney; sisters: Nina Ellenbecker and Anne (Dan) Meyer and their children: Carolynn and Don Bodwell and their children: Alanna and Logan; Patrick Meyer; Kathryn Meyer and Matthew Meyer; dear friends: Ellen Edge, Linda Millard and Gail Malott as well as many close neighbors and fellow teachers.
    Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joe Ellenbecker.
    A Prayer Service for Mary will be held at 6 PM, Wed. Feb. 7, 2018 at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Schwictenberg officiating. Friends may visit the family on Wed. from 4 - 6 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. A special thank you to the staff of Cherry Meadows for their care of Mary the past weeks.

    She will forever be in our hearts and her memories will be cherished always.
