    Obituary:
Sylvia Margaret Lamm, 88, of Appleton, died peacefully on March 12, 2016 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna after a courageous three-year battle with melanoma. She was born in Kiel on May 31, 1927 to the late William and Anna (Bauer) Reininger. Sylvia graduated from Hortonville High School. On June 10, 1950 she married Willard Lamm at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. In 1967, Sylvia moved to Appleton with her husband and five children. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteer work there as well as at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Once her children were in school, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for M&I Bank.
Sylvia was a quiet, kind, woman who appreciated ordinary things. She enjoyed collecting recipe books, baking, cooking, reading, watching her flowers grow and the birds eating out of her backyard feeders. She valued her faith and her family. She took pleasure in having holiday family gatherings around her huge antique dining table. She made the best pumpkin pie, baked beans, and potato salad.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Willard, Appleton; four daughters: Jane (Alvin) Grendzinski, Maplewood, MN, Betty (David) Hucek, Appleton, Nancy (Richard) Happ, New Bern, NC, and Donna (Raymond) Meyer, Larsen, WI; a son, Richard (special friend Yvonne) Lamm, Appleton; six grandchildren: Phillip (Darcy) Grendzinski, Chrystal, MN, Diane Grendzinski, Maplewood, MN, Brian Hucek, Madison, Sally Meyer, Oshkosh, Karen Meyer, Appleton, and Shelly Meyer, Appleton; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Lamm, De Pere. She was preceded in death by three newborn daughters, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Ervin Platt, her mother and father-in-law, Marie and Paul Lamm, and her brother-in-law Joseph Lamm.
A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Friday, March 18, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes, Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating.
