Biography:
JOHN S. SCHROEDER, who during a period covering more than forty years h as been a resident of Outaga.mie county, Wisconsin, has taken an importa nt part in the growth and development of this section, and is now engag ed in agricultural pursuits on a fine tract of 160 acres located on secti on 29, in Black Creek township. John S. Schroeder was born in Mecklenbu rg Schwerin, Germany, March 14, 1843, a son of John and Louisa (Olmss) Sch roeder, who were married in Germany and came to the United States in 185 5, settling in New York State, where they lived for fourteen years. In 18 69 the family came to Wisconsin, settling in Center township, where the mo ther died ten years later. at, the age of fifty-five years. Mr. Schroed er died in Black Creek township at the age of seventy-seven years. Both a re buried in Center township. John Schroeder, who died July 18, 1894, w as a farmer by occupation, following agricul- tural pursuits all of his li fe, and he was honored and esteemed He had five children, and of these Jo hn S.was the second in order of birth. John S. Schroeder secured his education in Germany and in the district sch ools of the early days in this country, and he re- mained at home with h is parents until his marriage, in 1869, to Miss Mary Fiestedt, daught er of Daniel 'and Dorothy Fiestedt, natives of Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germa ny, where the father died. In 1868 Mrs. Schroeder came with her mother a nd brother to America and they settled in Outagamie county. Her mother di ed Mrs. Schroeder was the next Four children were born to in 1873 in the t own of Center to the youngest of her parents' four children, and was bo rn August 22, 1839, and died December 27, 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder, namely: Albert W., born September 5, 1868, marri ed Edith B. Boller and is engaged in the retail drug business in Chicag o, Illinois; August H., born January 13, 1870, married Freida Nickalous, w ho died February 13, 1907, leaving one son named Roland; Anna, who marri ed Charles Emrich, of Black Creek township, has two children; and Edwin, w ho married Delia. Myers, living with John S. Schroeder, has one child nam ed Lawrence. After his marriage Mr. Schroeder bought eighty acres of land in section 1 7, Center township, and lived there untiI 1892, at which time his father m ade his home with him, and he then sold out and bought the property on whi ch he now lives, a tract of 160 acres, of which 110 acres were at that ti me subject to the plow. He now has 140 acres in a high state of cultivatio n, and the place has been ideally improved, being now fenced with rail a nd barbed wire, and equipped with a complete number of barns and outhouses . The dwelling on the property had been built when Mr. Schroeder secured t he place, but he has erected the other buildings, including a basement bar n, 150x46 feet. He engages in general farmnig, markets barley and dairy pr oducts principally, and also raises fine Poland China hogs and mixed Sho rt Horn and Holstein cattle. In political matters he is a Republican, and he served for four years as s upervisor in Center township and six years as treasurer of the school boa rd in Black Creek township. Mr. Schroeder attends the Black Creek Luther an Church.

John married Fiestedt, Mary Abt 1864, Little Chute, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA. Mary was born 22 Aug 1839; died 27 Dec 1904. [Group Sheet]

Anna married Emrich, Charles Aft 1892. Charles was born 6 Dec 1873; died 29 Mar 1942; was buried , Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
