    Dorothy Malone, 86, Kimberly, passed away peacefully at her home early on Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Dorothy was born in Kimberly on Jan. 29, 1921, daughter of the late Theodore and Petronella (Vander Hyden) Vanden Boogard. Dorothy graduated from nursing school at Mercy Medical School in Oshkosh in the summer of 1942. In January of 1944 she entered the United States Army Nursing Corps as a First Lieutenant and served her country at DeWitt General Hospital in Auburn, California. At the conclusion of the war, she remained on the West Coast. She was an operating room nurse her entire career specializing in eye surgeries. She worked her way up to assistant operating room supervisor over her 36 years of service at Peralta Hospital in Oakland, Calif. She had one son, Richard, who was very dear to her. Dorothy was married to James Malone for 38 years and they were very devoted to each other. She had an artist's eye for detail, color and textures and mastered multiple crafts especially crocheting, doll making, and couturiere. She was a dedicated homemaker and particularly enjoyed baking. Dorothy loved the outdoors and when not out enjoying the wilderness she maintained magnificent indoor and outdoor gardens at her home. She had a particular love for Basset Hounds having lovingly cared for numerous dogs over the course of her life.
    Survivors include a step-daughter, Margaret Allen, Hemet, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Waring, Beverly, Mass.; five grandchildren, Damon (Ashley) Waring, Arlington, Mass.; Brandon Waring, Beverly, Mass.; Jason (Debby) Allen, Vista, Calif.; Erin (Rich) Fry, Pacifica, Calif.; Derrick (Ellen) Allen, Neenah; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Gene) Verstegen, Menasha; a brother, Alois (Mary Jean) Vanden Boogard, Darboy; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Van Den Boogard, Darboy and Joanne VandenBoogard, Kimberly. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim, in 1998; a son, Richard Waring, in 1993; brothers, Joseph and Eugene, and an infant brother.
    A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Wichmann Tri County Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will take place at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly.
    The family would like to thank all of Dorothy's caregivers, Frann, Jackie, Kim, Sandy, Mary, Sandra and Lois. Also, thank you to everyone at ThedaCare at home. Your help made it possible for her to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
