    Obituary:
    Hagany, Merlin F. Age 84, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at his home. He was born on November 13, 1918 in Buchanan, WI the son of Thomas and May (Flynn) Hagany. Merlin served in the U.S. Army from April 1941 until October 1945 with the 165th Medical Unit in the Philippines. He married Marie Stals on February 9, 1946 at Holy Name Church, Kimberly, WI. She preceded him in death in 1997. Merlin worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver for many companies, from 1956 until his retirement from Independent Oil Co. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Knights and VFW Post No. 1318. To everyone Merlin met, he was always quick with a smile and a helping hand. Merlin is survived by four children: Ann (Thomas) Nord, Madison; Richard Hagany, Oxford; Jean Hagany and David Hagany, both of Madison; seven grandchildren: Michele and Jeffrey Nord, Debbie (Johnny) Holsomback, Julie and Tricia Nord, Shaun and Dustin Hagany; a sister, Mary Kerkhoff, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents and two brothers: John and Leo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2003 with Father John Meinholz presiding. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2003 and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. The family would like to thank the staff at HospiceCare Inc. for their care and concern over the past couple of weeks.

    Merlin married Stals, Marie 9 Feb 1946. Marie (daughter of Stals, Theodore and Vandenberg, Anna Catherine) was born 3 Jun 1920, Deurne, , Noord-Brabant, Netherlands; died 23 Jun 1997. [Group Sheet]
