    KAUKAUNA WOMAN DEAD FROM INJURIES
    Mrs. Nick Kuborn, Struck by Street Car Last Thursday, Dies in Hospital Mrs. Nick Kuborn, 78, Kaukauna woman struck by a street car of the Wisconsin Public Service corporation at 7 o'clock Thursday morning died from injuries Sunday morning. Mrs. Kuborn, who lived at 207 E. Ducharme-st, is survived by seven daughters and two sons. Joseph Kuborn, Kimberly; Matt Kuborn, Kaukauna: Mrs. A. K. Johnson, Longpac, Calif., Mrs. A. Rutschow, Aberdeen; Mrs. Bernard Ashauer and Mrs. Helen Hogan, Clintonville; Miss Tess Kuborn, Kaukauna; Miss Rose Kuborn, Green Bay. One sister, Mrs. John Loenz, Port Washington, also survives. Mrs. Kuborn was born at Neuberg and lived there until her marriage in 1872. She formerly was Miss Barbara Engelhart. She was a member of the Christian Mothers society and had lived in Kaukauna for 50 years. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning: at Holy Cross church. Msgr. P. J. Lochman will conduct the services. Burial will be In the north side Catholic cemetery.

    Obituary:
    Joseph Kuborn 733 W. Kimberly, Ave., Kimberly Age 82 passed away Saturday morning at 9 a.m. after a short illness. Mr. Kuborn was born in Kaukauna December 4, 1882. He was a member of The Catholic Order of Foresters, The Holy Name Society, a trustee of the village of Kimberly for 16 years, a member of the vocational school board, library board & a village fireman. Mr. Kuborn is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Agnes) Kaufman, Neenah, Sister Marie Ruth Matthew, Racine, Mrs. Lester (Marie) Newhouse, Appleton & Mrs. Norman (Rosemarie) Schein, LaCrosse. Two sons, Wilbur, of Appleton & Gordon of Kimberly. One brother Matt, Kaukauna, three sisters Mrs. Helen Hogan, Menasha, Mrs. Kate Porter, Kimberly & Miss Rose Kuborn, Green Bay, 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services win be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly with burial in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen Funeral Home, Kimberly after 2 p.m. Monday. Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 8 pm.

    Mrs. Helen Hogan of this city was called to Appleton last week by the serous illness of her mother, Mrs. Kuborn. Mrs. Kuborn was hit a street car in Kaukauna last week Thursday as she was on her way to church. She was rushed to the St. Elizabeth's hospital at Appleton where she died Sunday. Henry Zehren is substituting as mail carrier on Mrs. Hogan's route during her absence.

    James M. Porter, Resident of Sunnyvale
    Passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2010 following a four-month illness with cancer. He was born in Kimberly, Wis., on Dec. 2, 1920. He graduated from Kimberly High School in 1938 and joined the Navy in 1942. During World War II he served as a sonarman aboard the destroyer USS CONY (DD-508), seeing action at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. He later served as a sonar instructor at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. Other ships he served on included the USS CHARLES J. BADGER (DD-657), the USS DIACHENKO (APD-123), the USS EVANS (DE-1023), and the USS RENSHAW (DD 499).
    After retiring from the Navy as a chief petty officer in 1962, Jim worked in the electronics industry in San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area. He retired from the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in 1986 as an installation supervisor. After retiring he enjoyed golf, traveling on cruise ships, and was a member of Sons in Retirement Branch 62 in Sunnyvale.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Porter, and son, Jon Porter, of Sunnyvale; sister Barbara Porter of Appleton, Wis.; niece Susan Krouscup of Oakland; and nephews David Porter of Rolling Meadows, IL; Bill Porter of Madison, Wis; Michael Porter of Menasha, Wis.; and Philip Vilaro of Roxboro, NC. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Appleton.

    Barbara M. Porter, 94 years, passed away at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna on August 16, 2016. She was born January 25, 1922 to her loving parents David J. and Catherine (Kuborn) Porter in Kimberly, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Kimberly High School and attended a business school in Milwaukee before she obtained work at Appleton Office Supply where she enjoyed 41 years of employment. She furthered her career by working at the Social Security Office for 5 years retiring in 1986.
    Barbara enjoyed travelling to Hawaii numerous times showing off her favorite island, Maui. She travelled to Alaska by cruise ship and basked in the cool nature around her.
    Barbara is survived by her loving friends Gloria K. Wocelka and Mary Jo Paltzer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Porter, David (first wife: Rebecca Gochnauer) (second wife: Ruth Sieg) Porter, James (Mary Galpin) Porter and Frederick Porter.
    A Funeral Mass for Barbara will be at 11 am on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Holy Spirit - Kimberly Site, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly. Fr. Bob Kollath celebrant. Interment Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation Monday, August 22, 2016 from 10 am until time of Mass.

    Mary A. Luedke, of Neenah, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 201, at Vallhaven Care Center. She was born May 21, 1940, in Clintonville, daughter of the late Leo and Rachel (Crowner) Ashauer.
    Mary married Ronald Luedke on November 5, 1960, in Clintonville. She loved everyone and everyone that knew her, loved her. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and cross stitching.
    She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah.
    Survivors include her husband, Ron; a son, Jerome (Michaelene) Luedke, and their children: Jonathan, Joshua, Carolanne and Jericho; a daughter, Karen Luedke and special friend, Dale Russ; and a son, Brian Luedke; a sister, Rebecca Ashauer; and a brother, Kermie Ashauer.
    Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Ashauer; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Ashauer.

    Survivors include:

    Robert J. Newhouse, 74, Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center. Bob was born to Lester and Marie (Kuborn) Newhouse in Kimberly, Wis. The family moved to a farm northeast of Freedom, when he was 11 years old. He attended St. Nicholas Grade School. Bob graduated from Freedom High School in 1952 as class president and valedictorian. He lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. In 1956, Bob graduated with honors from UW-La Crosse with a B.S. Degree majoring in Social Studies and Physical Education. He played varsity football for four years, the team won three Wisconsin State University Football Championships and played in the Jan. 1, 1954, Cigar Bowl in Tampa.
    He received his Master's Degree from Northern Michigan University in 1965. He began his teaching and coaching career at Hortonville High School in 1956, teaching Social Studies and Physical Education. In June 1957, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving 18 months in West Germany, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon discharge, he returned to Hortonville, teaching and coaching various sports for 16 years. He started Hortonville's first wrestling program in 1960, and became Hortonville's first Athletic Director.
    In 1974, Bob moved to Omro High School teaching Social Studies for the next 21 years. While at Omro he coached football and track, and served as Athletic Director for 11 years. He was very honored to serve as an Assistant Coach of the South Team for the Shrine Bowl in 1986. The Wisconsin Federation of High School Coaches selected him as the District 4 Coach of the Year in 1988. He was elected to the Omro High School Wall of Fame in 2001. Bob was inducted into the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association in 2005.
    Following retirement in 1995, Bob remained very active at St. Raphael's serving as an usher and doing many handiwork jobs as a member of the Building and Grounds committee. Bob and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 27, 2007. Their spare time was spent biking the State trails around Wisconsin, traveling the USA, including an Alaskan cruise in 2006, and, of course, attending their grandchildren's activities.
    Treasuring Bob's memory are his beloved wife, Darlene (nee Huss) Newhouse; children, Greg (Julie) Newhouse, Appleton; Mary Stierna, Oshkosh; Jeff Newhouse, Oshkosh; and Lori (Rob) Ryf, Berlin; grandchildren, Molly and Eric Stierna, Olivia and Valerie Newhouse, Sam and Sophie Ryf; brother, Ronald (Mila) Newhouse, Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Russell (Beata) Huss, Freedom; and sister-in-law, Elaine (Jack) VandenBerg, Townsend.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Julie Arnoldussen Newhouse; son-in-law, Terry Stierna; brother-in-law and his wife, Glenn and Rosemary Huss.

    David M. Porter of Rolling Meadows David M. Porter, 66, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011. Mr. Porter was born on Dec. 15, 1944, in Casper, Wyo., to David and Becky Porter. When his father's military career ended, the family moved back to Appleton, Wis. After graduating from high school, Mr. Porter joined the Navy, where he served from 1966 to 1971. He rose to the rank of chief petty officer and saw tours of duty in both Japan and Alaska. After his discharge, Mr. Porter attended the University of Wisconsin. Madison, where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. His career included engineering firms in several states; he held a Registered Professional Engineer license in the states of Kentucky, Wisconsin, Illinois and California. In 1994, Mr. Porter joined the international consulting firm of HW Lochner, where he became the chief civil engineer. He retired in 2009. Mr. Porter was an avid nature lover. He and his wife built a home in Northern WIsconsin, where he spent many enjoyable hours walking in the woods, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. But his real passion was for cats of every breed, size, color and temperament. He had a special gift for bringIng out the personality of the shy ones, calming the frightened ones, mending the sick ones and loving the abandoned ones. He was instrumental in developing the humane TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) program for feral cats in the Village of Rolling Meadows and served as a volunteer caregiver at several animal shelters. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife of 36 years, La Vonne; their son, David James Porter; two brothers and their spouses, Michael (Cindy) Porter and Bill (Sue) Porter; and one sister and her spouse, Susan (Jack) Krouscup. A memorial service will be held at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road (½ block east of Route 53), Rolling Meadows, IL 60008, on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Condolences may be sent to La Vonne Porter, c/o Meadows Funeral Home.
