    Effie Asman, age 87, of Kimberly, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Appleton, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Janssen) Spaay. On February 26, 1949, Effie married Roy Asman in Appleton. Effie was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly Craft Ladies, and Villa Voices. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and playing cards. Effie surrounded herself with her family and friends, especially her Kimberly and St. Paul Home friends.
    Effie is survived by her children: Thomas (Patricia) Asman, Kimberly; David (Maria) Asman, Darboy; Mary (Steve) Arend, Franklin; and Russell (Lynne) Asman, Monument, Colorado; twelve grandchildren: Jeffrey (special friend Kelli Rindt) Asman and Randy (Anne) Asman; Katie (special friend Sam Gocker) Asman, Sharon (Joe) DePaoli, Laura (Travis) Jordan, and Marley (fiancé Ryan Killian) Asman; Julie (Judd) Durant, Andy Arend, and Matthew Arend; Daniel, Maggie, and Karlie Asman; six great grandchildren: Grant, Michael, and Claudia Asman; Keizer (Asman) LaBoy, Royce and Mabel Jordan; brother: Patrick (Linda) Spaay, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Bev Spaay, Kimberly and Sis Asman, Valders. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Effie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Asman; sisters and brother: Margaret (David) Dietrich, Lee (George) Knoll, and Jerome Spaay.
    The funeral liturgy for Effie will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the St. Paul Home Chapel, 316 E. 14th Street in Kaukauna. Interment will take place at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday in the chapel from 1:00 pm until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
    A special thank you to the staff, volunteers, and all of her friends at the St. Paul Home, for the excellent care and compassion shown to Effie.

    Dolores Mae Wallace, 87, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Brewster Village. Dolores was born on May 29, 1923, to Howard and Marie (Spaay) Lynch in Iron River, MI. She grew up in Kimberly and attended Kimberly High School, where she played percussion in the band and also learned to speak French "oui". She worked as an administrative assistant in the Child Welfare Department at the Outagamie County Courthouse. On June 19, 1948, Dolores married Clarence Wallace at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Dolores and Clarence began their life together residing in Appleton, where they started their family. The joy of Dolores' life became her 7 children and their varied activities. Clarence and Dolores stood side by side as both their family and the family business, Presto products, prospered and grew. They enjoyed traveling and especially spending time at the family cottage at Legend Lake.
    Together, Dolores and Clarence have been passionate about giving back to the community through philanthropic efforts. They have been committed to the ACES Xavier Educational System, their church, the arts and charities that help the underprivileged. Dolores spent many hours volunteering at St.Thomas More and really enjoyed the time she spent there. She was an active member of St. Thomas More, the Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, PTA and also served as a Eucharist minister and a scout leader.
    Above all she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dolores' precious sense of humor was a treat for all. She delighted in creating a loving, fun-filled home, where holidays, birthdays and gatherings always became special events.
    Dolores is survived by her husband of 62 years Clarence, seven children; Kathleen Marie (William) Zelensky of Vadnais Heights, MN, Mary Patricia (Nicholas) Heinritz of Appleton, Joan Ann (Thomas) Lindsay of Glenview, IL, Amy Louise (Daniel) Argall of Cedarburg, WI, James Patrick (Shawn) Wallace of Appleton, David John (Jill Yeck) Wallace of Appleton, and Brian Robert (Catherine) Wallace of Appleton: 26 grandchildren; Dawn, Zeb, Megan, Hans, Tony, Andrew, Eva, Katie, Laura, Brenna, Alyssa, Evan, Lacey, Claire, Jonathan, Brigitte, Melissa, Patrick, Molly, Collin, Abby, Maggie, Kieran, Charissa, Aidan, Tessa; ten great-grandchildren; brother Jack Lynch, brother Howard (Hilda) Lynch, and brother Robert (Mary) Lynch, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia; brother, James and sisters-in-law; Beverly, Bernice and Helen.
    A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH (1810 N. Mc Donald St. Appleton) at 10:45 a.m.. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the Church. There will be a Prayer service on Sunday at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
    The Wallace family would like to thank the many loving staff members of Brewster Village for the wonderful, compassionate care that Dolores received over the past three years. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to The ACES Xavier Foundation (the Dolores Lynch Wallace Scholarship Fund).

    Howard served proudly in WWII. His professional career in the paper and plastics industrywas a source of pride for him and his family. Most importantly, Howard's love for Hilda and his family defined him as a gentle, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His exuberance for life and contagious spirit touched all who came in contact with him. He will be dearly missed by many but remains a part of all of us in our hearts and memories.

    ROCHESTER -- A Mass of Christian burial for Sister Dorothy Verkuilen will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights, Rochester.
    Sister Dorothy Verkuilen (Sister Armand), 87, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, died Saturday (March 28, 2009).
    Dorothy Florence Verkuilen was born on Feb. 13, 1922, in Kimberly Wis. After working for five years, she attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, where she graduated in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in social sciences. Following graduation, she worked five years with Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Green Bay, Wis., before entering the Sisters of Saint Francis in 1954, making vows in 1956.
    Sister Dorothy's 41 years of ministry as a Franciscan sister began as a teacher: two years at Saint Augustine's School in Austin, and one year at Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth, Ohio. Sister Dorothy had various positions at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester: business coordinator (1959-1971), office manager of systems and procedures (1971-1973) and assistant to the director of finance (1975-1978). In 1973, she pursued studies at the University of New Mexico, where she received a master's in business administration in 1975.
    Sister Dorothy received a license in nursing home administration in 1980 and served as administrator at Saint Anne Hospice in Winona from 1980 to 1987. Her years of ministry also included business office coordinator for the Diocese of Tucson, Ariz., and secretary/vice principal at St. Mary-Basha Catholic School in Chandler, Ariz.
    In 1990, Sister Dorothy moved to Assisi Heights, where she served as secretary to the business office until her retirement in 1997. She has been described as a faithful and good friend who always lived the Franciscan values and gave willingly of her time for others.
    Sister Dorothy is survived by a brother, Donald Verkuilen of Myrtle Beach, S. C.; and several nieces. She will long be remembered by the Sisters of Saint Francis, with whom she shared life for 55 years.
    Friends may call at Assisi Heights for the vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and before the time of the service on Friday.
    Memorials are suggested to the Sisters of St. Francis of Rochester, office of benefactor relations at Assisi Heights, 1001 14th St. N.E., Suite 100, Rochester.
