    JAMES KING James King, 73, died of heart disease at 2 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home, 305 Sarah-st. Kaukauna- He was an old resident of Kaukauna and was well known throughout Ou- tagamle-co. Funeral services will be held from Holy Cross church Satur- day morning.

    JAMES F. KING P. King, 79, 305 Sarah-st, Kaukauna, died at 1:30 Wednesday morning at his home after a lingering illness. Mr. King's grandparents came to America from Holland in 1846 and settled at Random Lake. Sheboygan-co. James King and Miss Margaret Molitor were married at Random lake where they lived until 1897 when they moved to Hilbert. The couple moved to Kaukauna in 1916. The survivors are his widow, nine sons. Peter J. of Milwaukee, Frank R. of Madison, Joseph P. of Port Washington, John E. of Milwaukee. Henry of Detroit, Robert of Green Bay, Edward of Hilbert and Nicholas and Anthony of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Guilfoyle, Mrs. Lucy Driessen and Mrs. Victoria Busse of Kaukauna; forty-one grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hubert Schreiner of Chicago. The funeral will be held at 9:30 Saturday morning at Holy Cross church at Kaukauna. Msgr. P. J. Loekmann will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Northside Catholic cemetery. The bearers will be Joseph Kuchelmeister, Sr., J. Ashauer and W. H. Haessly of Kaukauna, James Campbell, John Geisen and Josepf Wolf of Hilbert.

    Obituary:
    Robert R. "Bob" Bernard, 97, Kaukauna, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at Parkside Care Center. Bob was born, November 1, 1906 son to the late Nicholas and Margaret (King) Bernard in Hilbert. He married the former Margaret Skalmusky on January 30, 1930 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Bob worked for Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 43 years, retiring in 1966. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club and Kaukauna Golden Agers. His hobby was raising beagle hounds and training them for hunting. Bob also was a member of the Valley Beagle Club for a number of years. He flew pigeons in races until 1988. Bob liked a good game of sheepshead, skat and cribbage. Bob also spent many hours fishing and hunting.
    He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Margaret Bernard; his daughter and son in law: Betty (Gerald) Nytes, Kaukauna; two grandchildren: Nancy (Dan) Meacham, Darboy and their children, Christina, Stefanie and Brianna and Lisa (Keith) Fassbender, Kaukauna and their children, Meagan, Melissa and Kyle.
    His parents, three sisters: Marie Beyerstedt, Lucille "Lou" Clune and Monica Bergman and a brother, Ben Bernard, preceded him in death.
    The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday March 5, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. A memorial is being established in Bob's name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 766-2099.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute for the kindness, care and concern they gave Bob during his time there.

    Driessen, Robert E.680 Elder berry LaneKaukaunaAge 89, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 13, 200 3. Bob was born in Kaukauna on May 1, 1914, son of the late Edward and Lu cy (King) Driessen. On September 1, 1941, he married the former Marian Coe nen in Little Chute; she survives. As a young man, the local newspapers pr oclaimed him "The Wizard of the Saw." As the years, passed, the title beca me very accurate, for until his final day was known by all as a talented a nd creative woodworker. For many years, Bob was employed at Giddings and L ewis, and retired as the inspection department supervisor. He was employ ed there for a total for forty-five years. Bob was a gifted wood-worker, a nd shared his talents with many over the years. Many will remember the cou ntless hours he donated to the St. Paul Manor, helping to build staircase s, countertops, and picture frames there. In 1966, he began constructi on on the family summer home on White Potato Lake. In 1976, he retired a nd made the cottage his full-time home. There he continued with his woodwo rking and made a variety of items for his home, yard, and family members a nd friends. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his beloved grandchildr en and great-grandchildren. Some of them have inherited his woodworking ab ilities!Bob is survived by his wife of sixty-two years: Marian Driessen of Kaukaun a; three children: Karen Geyso of Kaukauna; Robert F.     Driessen, Norbert E. 633 George Street KaukaunaAge 88, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at the A ppleton Medical Center. Nub was born May 1, 1914 in Kaukauna, son of the l ate Edward G. and Lucy (King) Driessen. On May 20, 1941, he married the fo rmer Ann Van Wymeren in Little Chute; she survives. Nub was a skilled patt ern maker, and was employed over the years by Thilmany Pulp and Paper, Gid dings and Lewis, and eventually retired from the Appleton Pattern Works. N ub was also an expert gardener, and many will remember his wonderful veget able and flower gardens. Each year he created a beautiful flower-filled ga rden for all to admire and enjoy.     Age 96, died peacefully on February 15, 2014, surrounded by family and close friends, in the same Kaukauna, Wisconsin home in which he was born and resided his entire life, except during his Army service in the Pacific during World War II.

    Born May 17, 1917 to Edward G. and Lucy King Driessen, his graduation from Kaukauna High School in 1935 was followed by employment never farther from his front door than one block: short order cook, banker, co-owner of a hardware store and, finally, joined the Wisconsin Gas Company from which he retired as District Manager in 1982.

    Wed to Frances Hopfensperger in 1946, she preceded him in death in 2004. Also preceding him was a son, Christopher along with his seven siblings and their spouses: Everett (Julia), Quentin (Helen), Lozelle (Jule) Schommer, Margaret (Ronald) Reetz, Robert (Marion), Norbert "Nub" (Ann), Floyd (Marian).
    Leo was a true Renaissance man who never stopped learning through voracious reading and constant involvement in activities. Where modern technology is concerned, Leo learned the basics of email and the internet but, generally, left those to his grandchildren. Beyond being an exceptional carpenter, renovating 119 Doty Street throughout his life, he was an expert gardener and soup maker.
    Serving nearly 3 years of WWII in the Pacific, honorably discharged in 1946, and later joining the Army Reserves, he retired from the Army in 1967 at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

    Prior to his 1982 retirement from Wisconsin Gas Company (now WE Energy)he taught himself the art of wood carving and, over the subsequent years, created a multitude of stunning works of art that continue to enhance the beauty of churches, libraries, city halls, and businesses and homes throughout Wisconsin and beyond. He was able to enjoy his woodworking into his 95th year.

    Following his retirement as district manager for the Wisconsin Gas Company, Leo became heavily involved in "his" community and hometown. Along with his friend and fellow retiree, Marvin Schumacher, Leo enlisted the skills and aid of a group of other retirees who built the first story of our current Kaukauna Chamber of Commerce. Beyond that, Mr. Driessen was instrumental in the establishment of part one of Kaukauna's Industrial Park, promoting it and encouraging businesses to relocate to the area. Leo helped raise funds for a number of projects in Kaukauna including Kaukauna's Friends and Family sculpture garden and the KHS's Galloping Ghost bronze. Along with his good friend Oscar Boldt, Leo was a founding member of the Fox Valley Community Foundation and, in his spare time, pursued a newfound love of opera. Devoted to family, community and country, he was active in Rotary International for 45 years, served on the Kaukauna School Board and several hospital boards, while lovingly conveying his passions and skills to his children and grandchildren.

    Leo eagerly embraced life and all the opportunities and challenges it offered, accepted difficulties and painful losses, and epitomized his belief that people don't stop playing, working and learning because they get old, they get old because they stop.

    The family offers heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jack Meyer for his many years of doctoring and befriending Leo, as well as Bright Star Home Care whose loving assistance allowed Leo to remain in his home for the last eight months of his life--dying where he'd been born 96 9/12 years ago--in particular Carol Brauer and aides, Michelle, Ina, Diane and Shantal. We also extend our gratitude to Affinity Visiting Nurses and Hospice, for all their help over the last 2 months of Leo's life, especially the PT, OT and volunteer staff, Social Workers and RNs especially Shelly, Tracy, Barbie, and Cass; dear friends Tom Nelson and Mike Weaver - who is Senior Ride Captain for the Patriot Guard Riders.

    A memorial service for Leo will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, with a reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.

    Lenore Ball of Kaukauna, 93, completed her journey on earth November 5th at Saint Paul Home. Born in Hilbert November 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Madge and Edward King. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1938 and was married to Dean Ball October 17, 1941. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage. Lenore was a great mother, sister and friend.
    Survivors include her daughters; Mary Pebley, Kansas City, MO and Janet Copley, Green Bay, son-in-law, Charles Copley, and three grandchildren; Kristi Pebley, Tampa, Florida, Jason and Andrew Copley, Green Bay, her sisters-in-law Elaine King and Ann King, along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends Myrna Corpeny, Kansas City and Sheila Ecke, her friend and caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, son Richard, her twin sister, Lavern Jansen, brothers Leo and Gene KING, sisters Dorothy Spierings and Pearl Saiberlich, brothers-in-law Glenn Ball, Norbert Jansen, Wins Saiberlich, Ed Spierings and Les Luedtke.
    Lenore was employed as a cashier at the Rialto Theater. She later worked at Kaukauna Club Cheese, and King Variety Store.
    She was an active member of Holy Cross Parish serving as Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Holy Cross Welcome Committee and of the Cursillo Movement. She lead the Parish Visitation Program visiting parish members in nursing homes. Lenore especially enjoyed being a Prayer Partner for children preparing to make their First Holy Communion. She served on the board of AARP Area Chapter 1834 and received, along with Dean, the AARP National Community Service Award.
    Lenore enjoyed tending her flower gardens and passed this love on to her children. She liked to spend time with her many friends and her Irish humor brightened the day for people around her. . She was the spirited life-of-the-party at Canal Place apartments and understood the importance of doing something "just for fun" every day. She will be missed by many… and welcomed by those who have gone before her.
    The funeral liturgy for Lenore will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St. at 11:00 AM with Fr Tom Pomeroy officiating. The funeral liturgy will include a memorial to her son Richard, who passed away on November 4, 2012 in Texas. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass.

    Eugene King, 81, Kaukauna, passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 14, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 12, 1930, to the late Ed and Madge King. Gene was married to Elaine Schaefer sixty years on June 26, 2011.
    Gene served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1953. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel - St. Mary Church where he had been an usher, communion distributor and served on many committees for the Holy Name Society. Gene was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kaukauna VFW Electric City Post 3319 and Wrightstown Urban Klister American Legion Post 436. Gene and Elaine owned and operated King's Variety Store in Kaukauna and Little Chute for 35 years. He was proud to have his family involved at their store to teach the values of hard work. During this time in business, he was a very active member of the Kaukauna Business Associations and the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce.
    His passion was golfing and he enjoyed playing cribbage or cards with his buddies. Gene was a great Packers fan and attended all their home games for many years. He enjoyed working in his yard and sitting outside visiting with his neighbors and became known as "Grandpa Gene" to all the kids. Gene's genuine love of people brought him many treasured friendships throughout his life. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Gene will be missed by his wife, Elaine King; daughters, Nancy (Dave) Vanderloop; Pat (Steve) Dey and Peggy Edmonds; son, Dan (Lisa) King; grandchildren, Barry (Brenna) Vanderloop and Scott (Morgan) Vanderloop; Greg (Renae) Dey; Corey King and Kristy King, Kelly (Quentin) Hungerford, Andy Dercks and Sam Dercks; great-grandchildren, Paige Dey, Riley and Logan Hungerford, Avalee Stoffel, Hailey Fink and Dominic King; sister, Lenore Ball; sisters-in-law, Ann King and Dot (Gordy) Weyers and brother-in-law, Eugene (Jane) Schaefer.     The funeral liturgy for Gene will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna. Fr. Jerry Pastors will be officiating. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

    Betty (Bernard) Nytes, age 78, of Kaukauna, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center following an 8-year struggle with ovarian cancer. Betty was born on June 17, 1930, in Kaukauna, the only child of Robert and Margaret (Skalmusky) Bernard. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1948, and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Jerry Nytes on June 6, 1953. They shared 55 years together. She was employed at Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company in Appleton as a receptionist from 1948 until 1959, and at Kaukauna Area Schools from 1969 until 1992, when she retired. Betty was preceded in death by her parents in 2004.
    She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her daughter, Nancy, and her children: Christina, Stefanie and Brianna Meacham of Darboy; her daughter Lisa (Keith) Fassbender and their children: Megan (Chris) Bayorgeon, Melissa and Kyle Fassbender, all of Kaukauna; two great-grandchildren: Quintin and Collyn Bayorgeon of Kaukauna. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Cleo (Hilary) Swiechowski of Menasha and Alice Nytes of Kaukauna; nieces, nephews, and an aunt, Irene Borree.
    Betty enjoyed playing cards, bridge, sheepshead, golf, reading and traveling. She also enjoyed going to lunch every two months with her '48' classmates. Betty was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club and served as President of the Ladies Golf League in 1968. On July 11, 1982, she had a hole-in-one on number 8. She was a member of the Lady Elks for many years and was secretary in 1963. Betty was also a former member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish in Kaukauna.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Aloysius Site, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors celebrating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Betty's name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home in Kaukauna is assisting the family (920-766-2099).
    The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Werner and his staff at the Kaukauna Clinic, and the nursing staff at the AMC Cancer Unit, for the compassion, support, and wonderful care they provided throughout this difficult time.

    Robert F. Driessen, Kaukauna, age 71, died at his home Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was born in Kaukauna on September 18, 1944 to the late Robert and Marian (Coenen) Driessen. Robert married Bonnie Steffens at Holy Cross Parish on May 1, 1965. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2010. Bob owned and operated American Auto Transmission until his retirement in 2014. Bob was the president of Venture Touring Society (VTS) and was a member of the Valley Vettes. Together, he and Bonnie loved to ride around in their Corvette. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
    Bob is survived by his sons: Todd (Nicole) and Craig (Heidi), both of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Dylan, Chase and Saylor; sister: Karen Geyso; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty Driessen, Marlene (Jim) Kilsdonk, Sharon Huss, Gary (Berne) Steffens, Linda Waters and Marc (Lee Ann) Steffens. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and especially his Valley Vette friends.
    In addition to his parents and wife Bonnie, Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Vince and Lucy (Van Domelen) Steffens; brothers: Rick and Daryl Driessen; and brothers-in-law: Bill Geyso and Lee Steffens.

    Richard "Rick" Driessen, 68, Kaukauna passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2014 with his family at his side. Rick was born on February 24, 1946 to Robert and Marian (Coenen) Driessen. He was a 1964 graduate of Kaukauna High School. On April 6, 1968 he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Van Dyke and they enjoyed over 46 years together. Rick was employed as a Senior Process Piping Designer, working for many years with S.J. Baisch and most recently with M.S.B. Corporation. He retired from M.S.B. Corporation in 2010. In his younger days, Rick was very close to his father, who passed his love of woodworking to Rick. He was a very loving and concerned husband who always put his family before himself. He was also a very proud father and grandfather. Time with his family and trips to Mexico with Betty were always cherished. Rick was a very sensitive man with a very big heart. He would do anything to help anyone, especially his friends and family. He was a very strong man and was very passionate about the things he loved. He enjoyed working with his hands, remodeling his home, landscaping and gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and drives in the country. He was a fan of all Wisconsin sports. He loved the Badgers, Brewers, and especially the Packers.
    Rick is survived by his wife, Betty; his children: Robin (Scott) Driessen Bruecker and their son, Jake; Darin (Michelle) Driessen and their children: Megan and Kenzi; Traci (Brandon) Powell and their son, Brayden; his sister: Karen Geyso and brother: Robert Driessen, Jr.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marian Driessen, a brother: Daryl Driessen; a sister-in-law: Bonnie Driessen, and a brother-in-law: Bill Geyso.
    The funeral liturgy will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Holy Cross Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating.     Richard had a career in sales and retired from Shell Oil Company in August. He was an avid car buff, collector of watches, vintage clocks and radios, He was a member of Generations Church and served his Lord through street ministry and volunteered in prison ministry for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
    He was the son of the late Dean Ball and is survived by his mother, Lenore Ball; sisters, Mary Pebley, Kansas City;and Janet Copley, Green Bay; brother-in-law, Charles Copley, niece, Kristi Pebley, Tampa, Fla.; nephews, Jason and Andrew Copley, Green Bay;and special friend, Marsha Mefferd, Mountain Home, Texas. He will be remembered for his generous spirit and warm heart.
    A private memorial service was held in Galveston. Services for family will be held at a future date.
