    LaVerne's parents Grace Waters and Arthur Kromer were married in Hortonvil le, WI. and lived all of their married life in Kaukauna. Grace was a good looking positive woman who handled much of the decisions while married. She was very involved in the Auxiliaries of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign wars. Art was called to serve in W.W.II. and was very useful since he spoke German. Afterwards, he was a salesman for both the Appleton Monument and Stone Co. and the Leath's Furniture Co of Appleton. During the second world war he served as a second guard at the Giddings and Lewis plant here in Kaukauna. Grace and Art had two children Laverne and her younger brother Arthur Jr.

    LaVerne N. Goetzman A truly wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandma, and friend passed away at St. Paul Elder Services early on Saturday, March 21, 2015. LaVerne was born in Kaukauna on September 1, 1920, daughter of the late Art and Grace (Waters) Kromer. On June 8, 1940, she married Robert Goetzman and they enjoyed sixty-four years together before Bob's death in 2004.
    She is survived by four children: Lance (Donna) Goetzman, Hope (John) Van De Hey, Suzanne (Dr. Leon) Jacques, and Lynn (Robert) Hunter. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Karen Tschimperle, Sara (Leo) Ebben, Steve (Marsha) Goetzman, Jeff (Robyn) Goetzman, Emily (Dr. Jeremy) Fritz, Paige (Jeff) Quigley, Scott (Barb) Van De Hey, Aimee Froze, Holly Jacques Scialdone (fiancé John Dunderdale), Robert Jacques, Rachelle DePrez, Jodi (Paul) Gardner, and Ross DeCoster; and thirty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bob; her parents; her in-laws: Frank and Ann Goetzman; a brother: Arthur (Leila) Kromer; sister-in-law: Virginia (Les) Coenen; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    In her early years, LaVerne was an active member of the Lady Elks, Oakwood Hills Golf Club, Kaukauna Community Hospital (now Kaukauna Community Health Associates), Trinity Lutheran Women's Aid Society, and a number of card clubs. She enjoyed golf, dancing, reading, and doing picture and word puzzles and playing cards to keep her mind alert.
    The Christian Funeral Service for LaVerne will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, with Rev. Andrew Luehring officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in the chapel at St. Paul Home, 316 E. 14th Street in Kaukauna on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and again at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be directed to St. Paul Elder Services or the building fund at Trinity Lutheran Church.

    Arthur G. (Junior) Kromer, 81, Kaukauna, was called to eternal life on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. He was born in Kaukauna on Sept. 17, 1926, to the late Arthur E. and Grace (Waters) Kromer. He was born again in the Spirit on Oct. 17, 1926, through the waters of Holy Baptism at Trinity Lutheran, Kaukauna, where he remained a longtime, faithful member. On Feb. 26, 1949, he married Leila V.E. Schurr in Two Rivers. Art proudly served in the Army during World War II. Art was a past commander and 62 year member of the American Legion Post 41. Art enjoyed fishing and playing Sheepshead. He volunteered at 1000 Islands Environmental Center and served on the board. Art was especially proud of his family's history with the Kromer Kap that his uncle invented.
    Art is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leila; three daughters, Beryl (Don) Barker, Appleton; Kay (Ron) Peters, Appleton; and Kim (Roger) Holtz, Kaukauna; five grandchildren, Tim and Tyler Reynolds, Michelle (Gregg) Jahnke, Adam (Kelly) Holtz and Marie (Ryan) MacPherson; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jahnke, Grace and Rose MacPherson; one sister, LaVerne Goetzman; and special nephew, Lance Goetzman. He is further survived by additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Art was preceded in death by his parents.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral at 11 a.m. at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (804 Grignon St. Kaukauna).     Jane R. Johnson, age 88, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2014. She was born on June 5, 1926 to the late Arthur and Viola Freier. Jane proudly worked for over 40 years at AAL before retiring. She was active in the Kaukauna Homemakers Club and the Ladies Aid and Alter Guild at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Jane always had a strong faith and was able to give a great deal of her time and energy to her church. She loved her family dearly and greatly enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
    Jane is survived by her son, John (Laura) Johnson; sister, Alice Peters; grandchildren, Becky (Joman) Schachter, Jeremiah (Meghann) Johnson, Kristin (Brady) Schroedl, Beth (Josh) Nelson, and Katie Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Sophie, Emily, Riley, and Oliver.     Karl Donald Freier, age 76, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Colony Oaks Care Center, Appleton, following a lengthy illness. He was born November 2, 1929, the son of the late Arthur and Viola (Kromer) Freier, in Kaukauna, where he was a resident all of his life. On October 20, 1962, he married Janice Reinholz at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Kaukauna. Karl served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He co-owned Freier and Whitman Drywall for 40 years until his retirement. Karl enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and was Past Commander of American Legion Post #41, Kaukauna.
    Karl is survived by his wife, Janice, of 43 years; a son, Scott (Penny) Freier, Hilbert and their son, Jared; a daughter, Sue (Randy) Vanden Bloemen, Kaukauna and her daughter and two sons: Nicole, Ryan and Lance Van De Leygraaf; a daughter, Sarah (Ken) Beckman, Andover, MN and their daughters, Grace and Claire; two sisters, Jane Johnson, Hilbert and Alice Peters, Kimberly; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, George and Virginia Steffens, Fond du Lac and Carol Ashauer, Kaukauna.

    Obituary:
    Thomas G. Starke 75 formally of Kaukauna passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Matthews Senior Living in Menasha on September 5, 2016. He was born on December 19, 1940 to the late Gilbert and Lillian (Chopin) Starke. Thomas graduated from Kaukauna High in 1959. He went on to attend Outagamie County Teachers College and graduated in 1962. He taught school for a couple of years until he became ill with Epilepsy. His sickness didn't allow him to finish his schooling at Wisconsin State College of Oshkosh. Tom developed a paper machine as of part of a school science project for student teaching. All you needed was Tom's machine, egg beaters and facial tissues and you have paper. He loved watching the Packers, Brewers, tailgating with Pepsi and Hershey bars, fishing, camping, playing basketball and most of all being with family and friends. Because of his lifetime health adversities he never complained. He just loved life.
    He is survived by his sister Nancy (John) Lehman, niece Lynn (Kevin) Schmitting, nephew Andrew (Susan) Lehman, great nieces, Greta (Jacob) Taxis, Natalie Schmitting, Ryan Schmitting, cousins James Isaacson, Donald (Marie) Isaacson and Barbara (Larry) Driskill.
    He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
    Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Wichmann Funeral Home Laemmrich Chapel 312 Milwaukee St. Menasha, 54952 at 11:00 am with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
    A special thank you to the staff at Matthew's and at Heartland Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave to Thomas.
    In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the "Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin 1302 Mendota St. #100 Madison, WI 53714."
    At the end of every visit Tom would always say "Take Care." Well today we say to you Tom, "Take Care."

    Obituary:
    Gary A. "Benny" Kemp, of Menasha, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton at the age of 64. He was born October 28, 1941, in Appleton, son of the late Wesley Kemp and Viola (Wrench) Kemp of Menasha. Gary graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1959, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He graduated from Fox Valley Technical Institute's traffic school. On October 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Betty Slomski of Menasha at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna.
    Gary served his country as a medical specialist with the headquarters company 127th Battalion of the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis. For over 40 years he managed transportation and distribution with companies in the Fox Valley, Hartford, Milwaukee, Chicago, Oshkosh, and St. Louis, Missouri.
    He was a former member of the Fox Valley Traffic Club, the Experimental Bicycle Association, the American Legion, C.E.S. Lions Club, Elks Lodge #676, Germania Club in Menasha, Unisource Distribution Council, Fox Valley Genealogical Society, and the Lever Management Council.
    Gary is survived by his mother, Viola Kemp of Menasha; his wife, Betty Kemp of Menasha; a daughter, Kandi (Johnnie) Lynn of Menasha and their children: Alexandra, Samantha, Johnnie, Jr., and Alanah; a sister, Lindy Kemp of Menominee Falls; two brothers, Keith (Kathryn) Kemp of Illinois and Calvin (Sharon) Kemp of Iowa; a niece, Sarah (Paul) Stearns; three nephews: Andrew Kemp, Philip Kemp, and Matthew Kemp; and first cousins: Bruce Kemp, Dale Kemp, Mary Luchterhand Karls, Marsha Luchterhand Goeser, and Arno Luchterhand, Jr.
    Gary was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Kemp in 1984, maternal grandparents, Louis and Alma Wrench, and his paternal grandparents, Herman and Rose Kemp, Jr.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Richard Maurice and Rev. Mark Luetzow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again Monday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services.
