Obituary:
Lois Lee "Lo-E" Martzahl, age 72, of Hortonville, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton. Lois was born on October 17, 1935, at home in Gresham, daughter of the late Ervin "Clay" and Ione (Van Buecken) Allen. She graduated from Gresham High School, where she was Gresham High's first Homecoming queen. After graduation, Lois was employed at Fox River Paper, owned and operated the El Chairo Club in Hortonville, and also bartended at other establishments in Hortonville. Lois and her special friend Harold Schroeder Sr. spent over 25 years together (he preceded her in death on January 23, 2006).
She will always be remembered for her love of spending time with her family, friends, gambling, Fourth of Julys in Three Lakes, her lengthy phone conversations and spending time with her Tuesday morning gang at the river.
Lois is survived by her boys: Calvin "Cal", Bradley "BJ" (Dawn), Gregory "Spunk", Troy "Whip" and Wade (Judy); her grandchildren: Travis (Cassie), Josh (Leah), Brandon, Alexis, Amanda, Jessica, Rachel, Cam, and Mackenzie Martzahl; her great-grandchildren: Trevan, Mara and Bela Martzahl and Hailie Martzahl. Harold's children: Harold Jr. (Sue) Schroeder and Donna (George) Wildhagen. She is further survived by special friends: Nancy (Gary) Ziegler, Verna Buntrock, Karen (Randy) Rueckl, Ellie McKeever, Troy, Lisa, Devan and Kelsey Bork, Rick Bork, Dyan Bichel, Dan (Julie) Draegar; her former husband, Donald "Mush" Martzahl; and also many other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and Harold, a sister Marlene Allen precedes Lois in death.
Funeral Mass for Lois will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville, with Fr. James Feely officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Dale. Visitation for Lois will be at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2008, and also at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff on 2 South at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for their care and concern of Lois.
