    Obituary:
Donna (Keach) Hash, Darboy, age 80, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on January 23, 1933 to Jefferson and Isabelle Keach. She spent most of her childhood living in Waupun, Wisconsin graduating from Waupun High School in 1950. Donna graduated from Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing. During her years of study, she played violin in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Donna began her nursing career at Schrank Clinic in Waupun. She married David Hash on August 7, 1954, and they spent most of their married life in Kaukauna. During the many years of her nursing career, Donna worked at Kaukauna Community Hospital before moving to St. Elizabeth Hospital from which she retired.
Donna loved to spend time with family and friends, which included many holiday celebrations, her bridge and sheepshead groups, Friday night fish group, and nightly "Sit Out" with the neighbors and her faithful dog, Andy. Throughout their marriage, Donna and Dave traveled extensively, first with the family and then on their own. Favorite destinations include: Alaska, Ireland, Savannah, the Southwestern States, and nearest and dearest to the couple, Door County. While she loved her travels, Donna best loved her home and took pride in her beautiful gardens. Donna was a rabid TV college basketball fan, always peppering her viewing with loud commentary when things weren't going her way. Donna was, to the end, a strong and feisty person. She was a rock to her family and friends.
Donna will be sadly missed by her husband of 59 years, Dave; her daughter, Deb (Keith) Zehms and grandchildren, Sam and Hannah, all of Eau Claire; her daughter-in-law, Paula Hash; and Dave's brother, Skip and wife, Mary Hash of Casa Grande, AZ. Donna was preceded in death by her son, Dave Jr. and her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charities close to Donna's heart: Outagamie County Humane Association, Salvation Army, or to the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition (in memory of her son).
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Bruce Danz and the staff of the Kaukauna Clinic; Dr. John Swanson and the staff of Thedacare Hospice; and hospice volunteers, Karen and Christine. All of you showed such incredible kindness, support, and care to Donna and Dave throughout her final journey.

    Obituary:
Dave Hash, 54, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and godfather, passed away Saturday morning, October 31, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center surrounded by his loving and supportive family after a courageous battle with complications related to his brain cancer. Dave was born in Heidelberg, Germany on May 28, 1955, the son of Donna (Keach) and Dave Hash, Sr. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute.
Dave was involved in sports his entire life, participating in baseball and volleyball in high school; for the latter of which he served as team captain and was chosen MVP in 1971 and 1972. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1973, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1977. His first teaching job was at Nichols School in Monona, where he also coached boy's varsity volleyball, facing his father's Kaukauna Ghost squad at the 1982 State Championship.
On July 19, 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Paula Verhagen. Throughout their 29 years of marriage, they enjoyed travel, ball games, time with friends and family, and a deep love for one another. In 1985, Dave received his master's degree in Educational Administration. They moved to Glendale, Arizona, where he taught 8th grade. They returned to the Valley in 1986, as he assumed the duties of principal at St. John Elementary School in Little Chute for three years. Next Dave accepted a job as assistant principal at Einstein Junior High in Appleton, a position he held for 2 years. After participating in the planning of its construction, Dave became the first principal of Janet Berry Elementary School in 1992. Two years later, he was selected as Administrator of the Year for Excellence in Environmental Education by the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education. In 2000, Dave was chosen as Elementary Principal of the Year by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators. Always seeking new challenges, Dave became Activities Director at Appleton East in 2003, a position he held for 2 years. He then returned to the elementary level as principal of Houdini Elementary. In 2008, Dave accepted the job of principal at Madison Junior High. Dave approached everything in life with his whole heart, soul, and boundless energy. He touched the lives of hundreds of children as he learned all their names, spoke with them personally, joined in their recess games, attended their extra-curricular activities; showing them all that they truly mattered to him. With his positive attitude, enthusiasm, and involvement in their lives, he truly put the "pal" back in principal. Dave was loved and respected by his colleagues, staffs, parents, and students, and he felt the same toward them.
Over the years, Dave kept his sports interest alive by playing club volleyball with his dad and former Ghost players, working as a referee for basketball and volleyball, playing lots of golf, and attending countless sporting events. But most of all, Dave was a Badger fan.
Dave is survived by his soul-mate of 29 years, Paula, who rarely left his side throughout his illness. He also leaves behind his 5 loving cats. Dave is survived by his parents, Donna and Dave Hash, Sr.; his sister, Deb (Keith) Zehms of Eau Claire and their children, Sam and Hannah; his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Theresa Verhagen of Kaukauna; four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Joe (Chris) Verhagen and their children, special godson Paul (Jolene) and Noah, Laura, and Sam Verhagen (Kaukauna), Jay Verhagen (Phoenix, AZ), Keith (Lori) Verhagen and their children Rachel and Anne (Little Chute), Ken Verhagen (Kaukauna), and Sara (Pat) Weyenberg and their children John and Kate (Menasha). He is also survived by his special godson Tim Hamm (Phoenix, AZ).
Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents: Glendon and Viola Hash and Jefferson and Isabelle Keach.
A memorial mass for Dave will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz and Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. There will be no visitation per the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Dave's name.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those involved in his care: 3 South Oncology, AMC ICU staff, Dr. Washer and Dave Bond, Dr. Guenther and Dr. Krueger, Dr. Moard, Dr. Brooks, and special thanks to Dr. Duppler and Dr. Swanson for their never-ending dedication, time, passion, and perseverance in approaching Dave's care and the needs of his family. They were always realistic and truthful during this difficult time. We will be forever grateful. Paula would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support from family, friends, the Appleton School District faculty, parents and students. All of you made Dave the man he was.
