    EVENTS AT HILBERT DURING LAST WEEK Hilbert - Wenzel Koehler, 34, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Koehler, died at a hospital Sunday, Dec. 27. The body was conveyed here Monday for burial. Decendent is survived by his widow, nee Miss Gruber; two children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Koehler; seven brothers, Fred, Henry. Lenard, Leo Claude, Peter and Norbert; one sister, Mrs. Anton Hauser. The funeral took place at St. John cemetery Thursday morning. The Rev. Father Ruppold was in charge.

    Mrs. Edward Nilles passed away Friday evening last week following an illness of several months. Mr. Nilles suffered a slight paralytic stroke last November, from which she recovered, but has not enjoyed very good health since. She was fatally stricken last Friday.
    Leona Koehler Nilles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Koehler, was born June 18, 1904, in North Chilton town. In the fall of 1904, Mr. and Mrs. Koehler moved to Hilbert and here Mrs. Nilles grew to womanhood, receiving her education at the public and parochial schools. She was well versed in music and for several years played the pipe organ at St. Mary's Catholic church. She was married to Edward Nilles here at St. Mary's church November 7, 1928, and has made her home here since. She served for some time as local telephone operator. Mrs. Nilles was of a pleasant happy disposition and during her long illness looked upon the brighter side of life, ever hopeful of recovery. She was an active member of St. Mary's Christian Mother's society.
    Survivors besides her husband are one son, John; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Koehler; two sisters, Misses Marie and Ermina Koehler; one brother, Alvin.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church with interment in St. Mary's cemetery. Rev. Raymond Fox officiated.

    Obituary:
    Georgiana J. Heimerman ("Georgie"), 87, Appleton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, left the loving embrace of her earthly family on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, after a courageous second battle with cancer. Georgie was born on January 18, 1923, in Hilbert, Wisconsin, to the late Jacob and Catherine (Koehler) Schmidlkofer, the sixth of their loving family of seven children. The family later moved to Kaukauna where Georgie was active in sports and played French horn in the Kaukauna High School band. Georgie grew up as part of the "Greatest Generation," experiencing both the Great Depression and World War II. After high school, Georgie was a metal lathe operator for the War effort. She married Florian Heimerman on August 28, 1943, and the couple resided in New York during the war years, then returned to the Fox Valley area. They later bought and operated the Tangiers supper club in Oconto, Wisconsin, for around 18 years. After the couple divorced, Georgie ran the senior meal site for Oconto and later was employed in food service at the Oconto Hospital. Georgie moved to Appleton in 1990 to be closer to her family. She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed fishing (especially at the lake with Steve), participated in women's golf and bowling leagues, and also enjoyed card and game playing, gardening and reading and music (especially classical and Neil Diamond). She was blessed to enjoy traveling to many places (many with Sue and Dick), including Austria, Germany, Venice, Florida, the Bahamas, California, Kentucky, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Colorado and Canada, and shows at the Fireside with her friend Jim. Georgie was loved by all who met her - she treated everyone as her best friend and was the first to volunteer to help others in times of trouble. She had a calm manner, great wisdom, and an outstanding ability to make the best of whatever life threw her way. Georgie enjoyed living her last few years at the Linwood Apartments and made many friends there.
    Georgie will be so deeply missed by her eight children: Judy (Tom) Garot, Little Chute; Steve (Patti) Heimerman, Oconto; Mary Lou (Bob) Myers, Tulsa, OK; Ken Heimerman, Wausau; Sue (Dick) Meseberg, Madison; Don Heimerman, Green Bay; John (Tina) Heimerman, Green Bay and Ann (John) Hardginski, Menasha. Georgie was a terrific grandmother, known for her special love of babies and her grandchildren were the light of her life - Jon (Beth) Olsen, Rob Olsen, Linda Olsen, Andrew Heimerman, Paula (Paul) Le Calsey, Nick and Joey Myers, Zak Heimerman, Michael Meseberg, Alex and Bennett Heimerman and Brianna, Luke, Tavia and Rachel Hardginski. Georgie also is survived by three great-grandaughters, Elena and Leah Olsen and Sophia LeCalsey. She is further survived by a sister, Stella Vils, Kaukauna, nieces, nephews, her in-laws: LeRoy (Pauline) Heimerman, Ceil Goerl, Doris (John) Weyers, Joyce (Ray) Lake, all of Appleton; Dennis (Marianne) Heimerman of Clintonville, and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Florian, one brother and four sisters.
    A celebration of Georgie's life will be held on Sunday, January 9, at Valley Funeral Home with visitation at 12:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 10, at St. Pius X Parish, 500 W. Marquette Avenue, Appleton, WI beginning at 10 followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m.
    The family would like to thank Dr. Sonya Eiben for her many years of good care. We also acknowledge the staff of Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology (Dr. A. Phillips), and the staff who cared for Mom at Brewster Village and Affinity Hospice.
    A memorial fund for Georgie is being established.

    Arthur "Art" Otto Koehler age 88, went to be with the lord on April 28, 2017 with loved ones by his side.
    Art was born July 19, 1928 to the late Henry and Alice (Joas) Koehler, and was raised on the family farm in St. John, Wisconsin. Art married Germaine "Mae" Heimann on July 7, 1955 and were together just shy of 60 loving years. He owned a dairy farm for 30 of those years in Seymour, Wisconsin and then moved to Kingman, Arizona in 1994 until his passing.
    Over the years Art enjoyed farming, playing cards, polka dances, but most of all spending time with his family. Art served his country proudly in the Army, stationed in Korea during the Korean War.
    He is survived by his children: Stan (Peggy) Koehler, Arizona; Steven (Paula) Koehler, Appleton; Glen (Robin) Koehler, Kaukauna; Jeffrey (Grace) Koehler, Oneida; Rita (Dan) Bucholtz, Dale; Grandchildren: Anthony, Amber, Kristy, Craig, Tracy, Kyle, Eric, Amy, Jennifer, Linda, Jason, Melissa, Alex, and Ashley; and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Jerome (Karen) Koehler and a sister Martha Nett.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Germaine "Mae", son Timmy, and granddaughter Abbey; 2 brothers: Melvin and Ronald, 4 sisters: Anita, Sally, Dorothy and Monica.
    The funeral Service for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sat. May 20, 2017 at St. Nicholas Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Art will be laid to rest in the St. Nicolas cemetery.
    Dad/Grandpa we will always remember you making us laugh with all your jokes. We will miss you dearly.

    Martha O. (Koehler) Nett formerly of Chilton - Martha O. (Koehler) Nett, age 85, died on January 20, 2018, at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein, WI. She was born on February 15, 1932, daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Joas) Koehler, and raised on the family farm in St. John and attended grade school in St. John.
    Bob and Martha married on September 11, 1951, and their 50th wedding anniversary was the same as date of the famous 9/11 tragedy. They settled on the Nett farm in Charlesburg. She was a house wife and farm wife. They loved to dance the polka, play Sheephead, eat out, fish, and travel. She also loved her flowers until her debilitation in 2009 and residence at Willowdale Nursing and Rehab until her death.
    Martha is survived by her children: Beverly (Nett) Marchant and son-in-law Harry Marchant of Sun Prairie and son Gary Nett of Crivitz. Her grandchildren are Roberta Marchant (fiance' Lane), Ryan Marchant and wife Megan of Manitowoc, Brad Marchant of Sun Prairie and Adam Nett (fiancee' Samantha) of New Holstein. Martha also has 2 great-grandchildren Neeve and Finn Marchant. She is further survived by her brother Jerome Koehler and wife Karen of Freedom, Florida, sister-in-law Donna Koehler of Texas and brother-in-law Bert Daun. She is further survived by many nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.
    Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Nett in 2013; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita (Harvey) Bernard, Dorothy (Ray) Van Asten, Rosella "Sally" Krause (Harry Braatz and Art Krause) and Monica (Francis) Dorn.     Gerald "Jerry" M. Hauser, 83, Menasha, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton due to complications of pneumonia. On May 16, 1928, Jerry was born the son of the late Anton and Theresa (Koehler) Hauser. He was united in marriage to Helen Weiland Podrzay on Aug. 21, 1954, at St. Joseph Parish in Appleton. Jerry spent four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was employed at Marathon Corp. and American Can Co. for 42 years and retired in 1988. In his retirement, Jerry and Helen spent many happy summers at Loon Lake in Shawano. They would play card games, especially Sheepshead with their family and friends. Jerry also did a lot of volunteer work with the Visiting Nurses Association and tutored second grade students in reading and math. He also enjoyed singing and was a member of the Y-Nots and the St. Paul Villa Choir. Jerry loved to read and enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs. Jerry always put others first and had great pride in being a grandfather.
    Jerry will be missed by his loving children, Cynthia (Ken) Priest, Mary (Terry) Cochran, Tony (Jane) Hauser, and Jon (Noelle) Hauser; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
    He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Porto and Helene Hauser.
    A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at St. Paul Villa Chapel, 316 E. 14th Street, Kaukauna. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at the chapel. Entombment will take place at Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial will be established.

    Marlene Koehler, 75, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Manor Care in Appleton. Marlene was born on December 1, 1938 to Leo and Mary (Gruber) Koehler. She worked for Chilton Metal Products for over 40 years until her retirement. Marlene was an avid softball player and was also a Brewer and Packer fan. She enjoyed traveling and went to many Olympics, both in the US and abroad, with her traveling companion and close friend Joyce Johnson. Listening to her old records and watching the classic westerns with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers were some of the things she liked to do in her later years. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her niece and nephews and those times will always be cherished.
    Marlene is survived by her niece and nephews; Steve Buchinger, Art Buchinger, Bruce (Michelle) Koehler, Toni (Dale) Reh, and Eric (Janet) Koehler, great nieces and great nephews; Moriah, Alyssa, Evan, Jared, Erika, Ryan, and Cory, other relatives and friends.     Injuries Prove Fatal To Hilbert Man In Car Crash (Pictures on page 17) Donald Koehler, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Koehler, R. 1, Hilbert, died at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, at 2:40 p. m. Saturday of injuries received in a traffic accident earlier Saturday two miles north of Hilbert. Koehler, driver'of one of the vehicles involved, suffered a skull fracture when his car and a semi-1 trailer truck, driven by Theodore i Granger, Green Bay, collided at the Intersecton of Highway 57 and County Trunk B, Calumet County. Also injured in the crash were David Boeselager, 20, and Donald Hernke, 18, both of Hubert. The accident occurred a few minutes before noon, Saturday. Koehler was born May 4,1932, in the town of Woodvllle and attended parochial school in St. John. He was graduated from Hilbert High School with the class of 1950, and aince graduating had assisted his father on the family farm. An outstanding and ardent athlete, Koehler was active in baseball, basketball and bowling circles. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Knights, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include his parents, and two half-sisters: Irmhilda and Mildred Koehler, both at home. Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Wednesday at e Techtman-Wletlng Funeral home, Hilbert, and at 9:30 a. m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. St. John. The Rev. Alvin Auer will be celebrant of the requiem high mass and burial will be made in the church cemetery- The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 7 p. m. today, until the hour of services.     Margaret I. Thiel, age 65, of Menasha, formerly of Hilbert, passed away surrounded by her beloved husband, daughter and granddaughter on Monday, April 28, 2008. On October 7, 1961, she was married to Lloyd Thiel at St. Mary's Church in Hilbert. Marge recently retired after twenty years of service with the Menasha Corporation. Marge was also an integral part of Thiel & Thiel Trucking since 1990. Prior to that, she was in management with High Cliff Supper Club. In addition, Marge and Lloyd ran a successful dairy farm in the Hilbert area for nearly four decades. Marge's professional accomplishments spanned her entire life and is a testament to her enduring work ethic. Marge was enthusiastic about the outdoors, had a love for gardening with a gifted green thumb and passion for butterflies. Reading was a favorite pastime while enjoying American history and biographies. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, pursuit of excellence and being a wonderful cook, making every holiday special.

    Obituary:
    Marvin R. Van Asten, Kaukauna, age 67, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He was born August 4, 1944 in the Town of Freedom, son of Raymond and Dorothy (Koehler) Van Asten. Marvin was an U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and was presently living at the cabin on Lake Tomahawk. Marvin was a very easy going man who had a positive effect on all who knew him.
    He is survived by two sons: Brian Van Asten, Kaukauna and Raymond (Vicki) Van Asten, Appleton; three grandchildren: Natalie, Katelyn, and Elizabeth; his mother, Dorothy Van Asten, Little Chute; a brother, Michael Van Asten, and a sister, Donna (Heilman) Eberly. He is further survived by four nephews: Brian, Vaughn, Dan, and Bob; a niece, Joanne; and other relative and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Merlin, and a brother-in-law, Jim Heilman.
    A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a. m on Monday, June 18, 2012 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Rites will be held following the service by VFW Post #3319.     The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the surgical ICU at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield and a very special thanks to Bob Heilman for his care and consideration.
