    Richard J. "Dick" Brandt, Combined Locks, age 87, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born November 12, 1929 in Appleton Wisconsin to the late Clifford and Josephine (McMorrow) Brandt and was the third born of four children. Dick went to grade school at Holy Cross Parish where he served as an altar boy and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1947. While in high school, Dick served as captain of the boxing team and was a four sport letter winner for football, basketball, boxing and track. He was elected into the Kaukauna High School Hall of Fame in June 1979 along with his best friend Jim Giordana.
    Dick graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Business Administration. He worked for Badger Northland for 13 years and State Farm Insurance for 23 years. He retired in 1992.
    Dick loved the game of golf and belonged to Fox Valley Golf Course for 52 years where he won many tournaments and awards. He was the Exalted Ruler for the Elks and a lifelong member.
    Dick was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan. He lived in the locker room of sports. Dick was also a lover of Kaukauna and many considered him quite a historian of his beloved hometown. The gathering place was Tommy G's with lifelong friends, Mark Kalupa, and the late Jim Giordana. Together they shared many laughs and reminisced about old times.
    He met and married Leona Dammerich and they lived in Menasha and also lived in Lady Lake, Florida as snowbirds for 15 years before returning to the Appleton area. She survived him after 22 years of marriage. They were reunited on May 7, 2017.
    Dick had two sons with Karren Sherry Brandt Chouinard (Kirk and Corey) and is survived by Kirk (Louise) Brandt and Corey's special friend, Byron Thompson; granddaughters: Nicole and Mallory Brandt; and sister, Mary Rohan; step children: Debbie (John) Vosters, Shelly Gisvold, Bill Dammerich and Ricky (Kari) Dammerich; step grandchildren: Dana (Brandon) DeCoster, Zach (Laura) Vosters, Tyler (Erica) LaBorde, Chloe and Trevor (Vince) Griesbach, Cami Gisvold, Laura (Travis) Pillsbury, and Sarah and Sami Dammerich. He is further survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in by his son, Dr. Corey J. Brandt (2015); grandson, Jordan Dammerich; sisters: Margaret "Peg" (Warren) Beaster and Patricia (Duane) Gast; and brother-in-law, Leo Rohan.
    Visitation will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral at 6:00 p.m. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
    Dick was a quiet man, a gentle soul, one who combined both strength and kindness. He loved a good hearty laugh and a good southern comfort at the end of the day. He will be missed by all who knew him.

    Obituary:
    Dr. Corey J. Brandt passed away Oct. 20, 2015, at St. Mary's Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. He was born Oct. 15,1958 at Kaukauna Community Hospital, the son of Dick and Karen Brandt. He attended Quinney elementary and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1976.
    Following graduation, he spent four years in the U.S. Army as an operating room technician. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in pursuit of a medical career, he subsequently graduated from San Francisco School of Podiatry. Following graduation, he opened his practice in Milwaukee and had a successful podiatry clinic for 10 years. Due to numerous medical problems he was forced into total disability retirement. The joy of his life was his dog Abbey. Survivors include Dick and Leona Brandt of Kaukauna, Karen Shauinaud of Texas, brother Kirk Brandt and nieces Nicole and Mallory, all of Austin, Texas, as well as longtime partner Byron Thompson. He is further survived by his Aunt Mary Rohan of Ohio, stepbrothers and sisters and many cousins.
    Services will be held Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Church, 2717 E. Hampshire St., Milwaukee, WI 54211.
