    Obituary:
Dorothy Mae (Kettner) Hoffmann passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale Florida July 23rd, 2016, at 1:55 p.m. She was born the eldest child of Marie Josephine (Rassmussen) Kettner and Michael Edward Kettner of Shiocton Wisconsin. She tragically lost her mother when she was a child and did her best to care for her family at the farm in Shiocton until she was 18. She married Matthias Joseph Hoffmann, Jr. on July 2nd, 1949. Dorothy and Matt leave behind their children Michael (Susan), Marie, Jack (Louise), Wayne, (Janet), Joan Ross (James), Geralyn, Karen Staebell (Jonathan), Sally Gruber(Mark), and Laurie Sjostrom (William), along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our memories of Dorothy vary as much as the many people she left behind. We remember her for special qualities she possessed, the first of which was her generosity and efforts to help others, whether in a personal way or through her community. Dorothy envisioned designs for everything from wedding dresses and quilts to backpacks for children in developing countries. She is fondly remembered for her abilities in the kitchen, having catered weddings at church, and feeding anyone who came by the house. Dorothy and Matt built a family beyond those they brought into this world and who are named here, to whom her children send their deepest love. Dorothy was a strong woman, not by choice but by circumstance, and she found great comfort in her faith, in prayer as a member for 28 years at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winter Haven Florida. A striking quality in Dorothy was her willingness to learn from her experience and to try to do what was right, inspiring fierce loyalty, respect, and love in those who knew her well. She was preceded in death by her husband Matt, her siblings Donald, Jerold, Thomas, Paul Kettner, and Nancy Lison, and three of Matt's sisters. She is survived by her sister Jean Molitor and her brothers Carl and Kenneth Kettner.
Services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel in Winter Haven Florida on July 29th. A second service will be held at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 6th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Dorothy's name at Good Shepard Hospice, Auburndale, FL
