    Janice Mae Pegel, age 79, of Appleton, passed into the loving arms of her Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
    Jan was born March 12, 1935 to Arthur and Stella Sauer, where she was raised on the family farm. She attended school in Appleton and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1953. On November 22, 1958 she married Gerald (Jake) Pegel at St Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton; he preceded her in death on March 30th, 2008. Jan's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved having them over for pizza or tacos and playing board games. In summer she loved working in her flower beds along with talking to the neighbors or anyone else who may have walked by. In fall and winter the Packers and Bucks could always be found on her television.
    She was the loving mother of two children, Kurt (Vicki) Pegel, and Julie (Jack) Nickasch. Cherished grandmother to Jadon and Jaeley Nickasch.
    Caring sister-in-law to Clyde Roche. Dear Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a great friend to many, especially Marilyn.
    Jan was also preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Erdine Roche and Verdane Bushberger.
    The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 302 N Morrison Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Jans family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the hour of services. A memorial fund is being established for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
    The family would like to send sincere gratitude to the staff of Brewster Village especially Alyssa & Maggie, for the wonderful care you have given Jan over the last several months.

    Janice married Pegel, Gerald "Jake" 22 Nov 1958. Gerald (son of Pegel, Raymond J. and Lueck, Agatha) was born 16 Sep 1927; died 30 Mar 2008. [Group Sheet]
