    Obituary:
    Jean E. Van Der Loop, age 85, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1930 to the late Brace and Eleanor (Braumandl) Getschow in Appleton. On June 23, 1951, she married Robert Van Der Loop.
    Jean accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and her relationship with the Lord was very important to her. Jean and Robert were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton and the Neenah YMCA. For 20 years, Jean owned and operated The Chocolate Habit, a woman's dress shop, in downtown Appleton. Together, they spent the last 18 years residing half the year in Florida. She enjoyed reading, swimming, playing cards and shopping. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great -grandchildren.
    She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Robert, her children; Timothy (Jolene), Appleton, Lynn Cottrell, Oshkosh, Sara Thomas, Appleton, and Mary (Jay) Kraft, Caledonia, WI, her grandchildren; Nathan (Jennifer) Van Der Loop, Brianna (Jim) Ring, Dylan (Danielle) Van Der Loop, Gavin Van Der Loop, Alson Cottrell, Shauna Cottrell, Ambyre (Kyle) Calmes, Eric Thomas, Zachary (fiancé Kim Ringer) Thomas, Santria Kraft and Michael Kraft and nine great grandchildren. Jean is further survived by brothers and sisters; Reuben (Jackie) Getschow, Sue (Thom) Miron, Joe (Petrice) Getschow and Gail (George) King, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    A funeral liturgy for Jean will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary OFM CAP officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's name to: St. Joseph Food Program, 1465 Opportunity Way, Menasha, WI 54952.
    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the St. Elizabeth Hospital ER and ICU staff for the care and compassion shown to Jean and her family.
