    Born January 18, 1917 in Appleton to Louis and Genevieve (Alberty) Rechner, Rita Rechner, 74, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton on January 15, 1992.
    A graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Green Bay. She married Sherman Heideman on May 10, 1941 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Appleton. She retired in 1981 from St. Elizabeth's after working twenty-one years as a registered nurse. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where her service will be. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
    Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Robert, John and Carl.

    Francis X. Rechner, age 92, life-long resident of Appleton, passed away the morning of November 17, 2016 at Brewster Village. He lived a loving and fulfilled life. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Appleton. Fran was born August 5, 1924 to the late Louis and Genevieve (Alberty) Rechner. He attended St. Joseph Grade School followed by St. Mary Menasha High School. In December of 1942, Fran joined the Army Air Force and served as a Radio Gunner Operator on a B24. On his 13th mission during a bombing raid over Vienna, Austria, Fran was captured by the German's after jumping out of his plane. He was taken prisoner to Stalag 17b, Cremes, Austria and remained there until the end of the War (13 months). He achieved rank as a Staff Sargent. Upon returning to the United States, Fran married Ilamae Ries, April 19, 1947. Together they had 5 children. They were married for 57 years.
    Fran worked for the Appleton Post Office as a mail carrier for 33 years. He volunteered at St. Joseph Food Pantry and The St. Vincent DePaul Society. Fran enjoyed fishing, woodworking, his cottage at Silver Lake, laughter, family and friends. His Catholic faith was an important part of his life.
    Fran is survived by his 5 children: Susan (John) Louchheim, Colchester, VT, Dr. Stephen (Susan) Rechner, Ada, MI, Genevieve (Dr. Peter) Gordon, Omaha, NE, Sarah Rechner, Greenville, and Martha (Dr. David LeCloux) Rechner, Crivitz; 11 grandchildren: John, Christopher, and Benjamin Louchheim, Dr. Benjamin and Francis Rechner, Allison McCart, Sara Stoller, and Emily Gordon, Emily and Molly Robison, and Jesse Dolan; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Jean Louise Rechner, S.S.N.D. of Elm Grove, WI. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
    Fran was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Genevieve Rechner; his loving wife, Ilamae (2006); 3 brothers: Robert, John, and Carl; and 2 sisters: Helen Alferi and Rita Heideman.
    A Mass of Resurrection will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Full Military Honors performed by Appleton Legion Post #38 will immediately follow. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in honor of Francis Rechner to Brewster Village, Homestead Level 2, 3300 W. Brewster St. Appleton, WI 54914.
    The family of Fran would like to thank and acknowledge the staff of Brewster Village for all of their love and care extended to him and remind them, "Don't be a mailman!"

    Adelaide M. Lingnowski, Menasha, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2009, at Garden View Assisted Living. She was born on July 22, 1912, daughter of the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schommer, in Milwaukee. Addie married Ambrose Lingnowski on July 16, 1938; he preceded her in death on July 21, 1986. She was employed with Wisconsin Tissue Mills for 10? years. Addie was a life-long member of St. John the Baptist. She enjoyed doing needlework, fishing and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
    Addie will be missed by her two sisters: Virginia Lippert, Wauwautosa; Mary (George) Webster, Florida; four sisters-in-law: Jean Schommer, Appleton; Irene Rippl, Menasha; Helen Schuh, Kaukauna; Cecile Lingnowski, Menasha; and a brother-in-law, Richard Lingnowski, Menasha; many nieces and nephews; her cousin, Helen Alferi; and her friends and helpers Sylvester and Rosalie Swederski.
    Addie was preceded in death by her three brothers: Roger, Harry (Grace) and Robert Schommer; two sisters: Dorothy (Duane) Raiche, Joanne Schommer; five brothers-in-law: Cy Lippert, Edward (Alice) Lingnowski, Ray Lingnowski, Merlin Schuh, Joseph Rippl; two sisters-in-law: Olive (Howard) Fritsch and Joy Lingnowski.

    Appleton & Milwaukee - Virginia "Virgie" M. Lippert, age 101, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Camillus Health Center. She was born to the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schommer on October 29, 1916. Virgie married Cyril B. Lippert on June 28, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and shared 62 years with him until his passing in 2004.
    Virgie was a long time member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and partook in various volunteer activities there and at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She enjoyed golf, bowling, needlework, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading. Virgie loved spending time with family, especially her grandsons.
    She will be deeply missed by her daughter Nancy (Ignatius) Smetek of Brookfield; grandsons: Dan (fiancé Amber Ellis) of Green Bay and Sam Smetek of Brookfield; sister-in-law Dolores Lippert of Appleton; brother-in-law Jerry (Nancy) Lippert of Huntington Beach, California; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her husband and parents, Virgie is preceded in death by her sisters: Adelaide (Ambrose) Lingnowski, Dorothy (Duane) Raiche and Mary (George) Webster; brothers: Harry (Grace) Schommer and Robert (Jean) Schommer; and brother-in-law Harold (Hildegarde) Lippert.
    The Mass of Resurrection for Virgie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will take place at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Camillus Employee Appreciation Fund or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
    A special thanks to the staff at St. Camillus for all their loving and compassionate care.

    Schommer, Robert W.Robert W. Schommer, of Appleton, Bob age 80 passed away unexpectedly Wedne sday, March 31, 2004 at Appleton Medical Center.He was born February 3, 19 24 in Milwaukee, son of the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schomme r. He married Jean Walter May 7, 1960 in Appleton, sharing 43 years togeth er. For several years he worked as a portrait photographer and then at App leton Knitting Mills. He was employed for 30 years by Kurz-Root as a machi nist.He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of AA RP. He enjoyed classical music, hunting, fishing, camping and the family s ummer home. He appreciated his friends and neighbors. He was a dedicated h usband and father who deeply loved his wife, children and family. He serv ed in the Army during WWII.Survivors include his wife Jean, two daughters, and a son-in-law: Mary Je an Schommer and fiance Allan L. Loney, Appleton; Elizabeth and Kurt Andrew s, Menasha; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Adelaide Lingnowski, Men asha; Dorothy Raiche, Neenah; Virginia and Cyril Lippert, Appleton; and Ma ry and George Webster, Florida.Preceding Bob in death were two brothers, Harry and Roger and a sister Joa nne.Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ma ry Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton with the Rev. Bob Lexa offi ciating. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Ch apel on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 :30 a.m. until the time of service.     Green Bay - Michael David Heideman, 70, Green Bay, passed away after a 10 month battle with cancer, on the morning of Saturday, June 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on March 29, 1948 in Appleton, WI, to the late Sherman Heideman and Rita (Rechner) Heideman.
    On Aug. 22, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Sally Kranhold of Appleton, WI. They joyously raised their two sons, David and Jen (Porath), twin granddaughters, Hannah and Isabella; Timothy and Julie (Senecal), grandson, Charlie. He is also survived by his sister, Jean (Don) Broman and his brother, Bob (Kathy Muntner) Heideman; in-laws, Roberta and Bob Westphal, Linda and Tom Roemer, Karen and Richard Bodoh; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
    Mike attended St. Joseph Grade School and Xavier High School in Appleton, WI (Class of '66). He earned his Bachelor Science Degree and Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. Mike participated in athletics (basketball, football, track) all throughout his schooling. He knew from his early high school years that he wanted to teach and coach. Starting first in Augusta, WI, then adding to his dream of teaching and coaching at his alma matter, Xavier High School for eight years. Another dream pursued when he entered collegiate coaching at St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI. For the next 17 years he was both assistant and head basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. On to Valparaiso, IN, for one year, then he became assistant basketball coach at Washington State University for six years. He completed his career back in Wisconsin at St. Mary's Catholic High School in Neenah as Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. He was a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches for 35 years. Receiving numerous awards during his career, he was always most appreciative of his players, students and many coaches he worked with, for they all inspired him. For that he was so very thankful!
    He loved doing things with his family and spending time at the lake up north. When at the cottage he enjoyed many water sports. Mike was an avid reader, often reading two or three books at a time. During retirement he volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish and the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Claude Allouez Council.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Robert and Mildred Kranhold.
    Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 9:00am to 11:45am. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated for Mike at 12noon at the church with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers memorial funds are being established in Mike's name.
    The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Schmitz of Prevea, the doctors and staff of Green Bay Oncology and Unity Hospice Services.

    Barbara A. Wichman, 77, Neenah, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah. She was born on April 5, 1937, in Neenah, daughter of Harry and Grace (Allen) Schommer. Barb was united in marriage to Donald Henry Wichman on November 10, 1956. The Lord has a new angel in heaven, so any babies who might end up there are bound to end up in Barb's arms. She was a very loving and loveable person. Though challenged with many medical problems her family and husband (plus all babies) were her pride and joy. Barb and Don were charter members of St. Gabriel Parish, Neenah.
    Barbara is survived by her husband, Don; five children: Pamela McCluskey, Peter (Laurie) Wichman, Joseph Wichman, Tim (Rose) Wichman, and Steve (Heather) Wichman; a daughter-in-law: Tracy Wichman; nine grandchildren: Justin (Donna) Wichman, Donald (Amy) Wichman, Tina (fiance Matt Whiting) Wichman, Elizabeth (Patrick) Kirby, Andrew McCluskey, Sarah McCluskey, Ricky (Molly) Anderson, Erik (Shaina) Craddock, and Deanna Wichman; five great grandchildren: Mikayla Lindner, Taylor and Kylie Wichman, and Courtney and Kalvin Craddock; brothers and sisters and brothers- and sisters-in-laws: Jim (Lynn) Schommer, Suzy (Gary) Greenman, El "Bud" (Beverly) Wichman, Mike (Judy) Wichman, Henry (Jean) Wichman, Mary (Joe) Nemecheck, Pat (Jim) Van Oss; many other relatives and friends.
    Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; mother- and father-in-law: Henry and Laniece (Evers) Wichman; a granddaughter: April Ann Wichman; a grandmother-in-law: Elizabeth Evans, and a brother-in-law: Eugene Wichman.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
    Barbara's family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctor's that Barb has had over the years, for their great care, guidance, and support.
