    Obituary:
    Gertrude M. Bruening, 95 of Milladore died on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
    Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, September 20, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore with Fr. John Ofori-Domah officiating.
    Visitations will be on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5-8 pm at the Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City and again on Thursday at the church from 9:30 am until service time. There will be a 5pm prayer service Wednesday at the funeral home.
    Gertrude was born in town of Greenville, Outagamie County to Michael L. and Cecelia (Thompson) Woods. She attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Appleton High School in 1937.
    She was united in marriage to Bernard H. Bruening on October 5, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Appleton. He died on August 8, 2011.
    The treasures of her life were love of her family as well as her rosary, Irish heritage and extensive correspondence with family and friends.
    Gertrude is survived by her children William (Jennifer) Bruening of Mosinee, Mary (Darnell) Tyjeski of Wisconsin Rapids and Anne (Joseph) Levendoski of New Berlin; eight grandchildren, Justin (Rebecca), Abby, Ben and Megan Tyjeski, Robert and Meghan Bruening, Catherine and Claire Levendoski.
    She is further survived by one brother James (Patricia) Woods of New London, four sisters, Helen Calmes of Appleton, Joan (Larry) Gitter of Wisconsin Rapids, Alice (Richard) Van Handel of Appleton, Catherine (Richard) Seidler of Greenville, three sisters-in-law Marie Woods of Appleton, Rita Woods of Appleton and Bernardine Kelhofer of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother-in-law James Jenkel of Greenville.
    Besides her parents and husband Bernard, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two in infancy, Earl and John Woods, three sisters, Agnes in infancy, Mary Reichle, Margaret Jenkel; one brother-in-law Frank Calmes.

    James M. "Jim" Woods, age 81, of Freedom, passed away peacefully in his sleep from pulmonary fibrosis on Friday, December 9, 2016. He was born on October 17, 1935, son of the late Leo and Cecelia (Thompson) Woods. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Hortonville High School, and was employed at Thilmany in Kaukauna for 40 years before his retirement.
    Jim married Pat Arnoldussen and they have celebrated over 59 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states. They have lived on the family hobby farm since 1958 and enjoyed square dancing and snowmobiling. Jim was a charter member of the Dairyland Snowmobile Club. He also enjoyed going on the pontoon, fishing and gardening. Jim was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom for over 58 years.
    Jim is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his children: Debra (Mel) Ver Voort, Amy Bradley, William (Debra) Woods, Tom (Paula) Woods, Daniel Woods, Bob (Mary) Woods, and Mary (Greg "Yogi") Greiner; grandchildren: Chrissy Murphy, Mandy Bradley, Joey Woods, Adam Woods, Brandon Greeneway, Samantha Woods, Cole Woods, Jason Woods, Brooke Woods, and Marisa Greiner; great grandchildren: Logan, Luc, Liam, and Lennon Murphy; sisters: Helen Calmes, Joan Gitter, Alice (Richard) Van Handel, and Catherine (Richard) Seidler; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Walters, Cal (Mary) Engerson, and Rita Woods; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Cecelia; siblings: Gertrude (Bernard) Bruening, Mary (Robert) Reichle, Earl (Marie) Woods, Margaret (Jim) Jenkel, and John Woods; brothers-in-law: Larry Gitter and Frank Calmes.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 12, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating.     Winneconne - John Robert Woods, age 67, Winneconne, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, January 8, 2018. John was born May 1, 1950 to Earl and Marie (Stoop) Woods and grew up on the family's dairy farm in Greenville. After graduating from Hortonville High School, John served in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, Hammond-Schmit Post 55, Hortonville. He was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his professional years, driving for Graebel Van Lines, Kimberly-Clark Corp. and FedEx, before his retirement in 2012, and was proud to have been recognized for 4 million accident-free miles.
    John married Jodi (Koerner) Perkins on May 18, 1996, and the couple made their home in the town of Winneconne, where John was well-known as someone always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and family. He loved to be outdoors, and he loved his workshop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing and especially loved hosting his annual deer camp party on opening weekend each year.
    John is survived by his loving wife, Jodi; his sons, Andy (Kristen) Woods and Matt (Dana) Woods; stepson, Justin (Angela) Perkins; sisters, Mary (Phillip) Endter, Marge (Dr. Pat) Cousineau, and Bonnie (Marv) Dorschner; brothers, Steve (Faye) Woods, Mike (Theresa) Woods, and Patrick (Cheryl Schultz) Woods; grandchildren Alex, Nick, Ian, and Ella Woods; mother-in-law, Jackie Koerner; sisters-in-law, Tami (Sara Edwards) Koerner, and Nanci (Craig) Fink; brother-in-law, Michael Koerner; many nieces, nephews, loving neighbors, and special friends, including his best friend Bill Oostra.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marie Woods; father-in-law, Richard Koerner; and a niece, Holly Dorschner.

    Daniel James Jenkel Rt. 2, Black Creek Age 27, died Sunday evening. He was born November 20, 1948 in Appleton and was a lifelong resident of Rt. 2, Black Creek. He was a 1967 graduate of Hortonville High School and was employed by the Fox River Paper Corp. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Ellington. The survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James (Margaret) Jenkel; a brother, Steven, at home; a sister, Mrs. George (Carol) Lutzewitz, Appleton; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Leo Woods, Appleton; a nephew; his fiancee, Miss Mary Schreurs, Little Chute.     Barbara Irwin, 49, Green Bay, died peacefully Thursday, December 27, 2007. She was born February 10, 1958, in Appleton, to Frank J. and Helen (Woods) Calmes. Barbara graduated from Appleton East High School. On October 24, 1998, she was united in marriage to John C. Irwin in Appleton. She enjoyed watching "Little House on the Prairie," fishing, collecting angels and she received a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do. Barbara also enjoyed music, the Green Bay Packers and ballroom dancing.
    Survivors include her husband, John; her mother, Helen (Woods) Calmes, Appleton; six brothers and sisters and their spouses: Michael (Gennie) Calmes, Patricia (Allen) Koivula, Frank (Barbara) Calmes, Kathleen (Dennis) Van Boxtel, Sharon (Stuart) Howard, Linda Calmes; a step-son, Thomas Irwin, Green Bay; many other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Frank J. Calmes; a brother, Robert; a sister, Ellen.

    Holly Jean (Dorschner) Degal was granted one of her wishes on Tuesday November 25, 2014 when she was finally able to run again, this time into the arms of our Lord and Savior. With her passing, she is free from brain cancer that has burdened her for over 20 years. She is now able to live and play ball amongst the angels in Heaven.
    Holly was born on a snowy October 1, 1974 to Marv and Bonnie Dorschner (Woods). She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Holly attended Hortonville High School where she was a standout three-sport athlete and served as Senior Class President. After graduating from high school in 1992, Holly went to work at several title companies in Appleton. She was then hired by Outagamie County where she worked in the Register of Deeds Office until 2008.
    Her cancer may have stolen her ability to work, but it could never take away her spunk and sassiness. Holly always kept her sense of faith, humor and optimism. One of her best traits was her ability to be open, honest, and forthcoming. She never once used her illness as an excuse and feeling sorry for herself was never an option. When cancer stripped away her ability to complete even a simplistic everyday task, she would adapt and find a way to get it done. She liked her independence, and was always the last to ask for help. Holly was an inspiration to the people around her who admired her strength, courage, and resilience. Time after time when the cancer returned, she faced the challenge head on. She did not let her illness interfere with what she enjoyed doing most which was watching her two sons Zachary and Dylan play sports.
    In addition to her parents, Holly will be dearly missed by her children Zachary and Dylan Degal; her sisters, Jill (Bob) Kramer, Deb (Rob) Sager, Pam (Tim) Van Ornum; her brother Jeff (Crystal) Dorschner; her nieces and nephews, Brett and Drew Kramer, Collin, Brittany (goddaughter), and Ashley Sager, Emma, Ava, Joshua (godson) and Abigail Van Ornum, Haili and Kaden Dorschner, Natalie (goddaughter) and Cole Degal. She will also be sadly missed by her grandmother, Marie Woods; her aunts and uncles, Mary (Phil) Endter, Margie (Pat) Cousineau, Jack (Jody) Woods, Steve (Faye) Woods, Mike (Theresa) Woods, Patrick (Cheryl) Woods, Beth Dorschner, and numerous special cousins and friends including Katie Woods, Melissa Joyce, Jenny Stuewer, Jen Kalwitz, Chris Roesler, and Staci Radtke. She also enjoyed the friendship she had with Paula Smith at Parkside Care Center.
    Watching over Holly in Heaven are her grandparents, Ronald and Anita Dorschner, Earl Woods; aunts and uncle, David (Dianne) Dorschner and Janet Dorschner.
    The family would like to graciously thank the medical professionals at the Neurospine Center and Appleton Medical Center including Dr. Wascher, David Bond, Dr. Krueger, Patty Martins, and Karen Wild. We would also like to thank Audrey Kalbs, Linda Kitterman, Jill Smith, Tonya Carpenter and all the nurses and aides at Parkside Care Center and Heartland Hospice.
    A celebration of Holly's life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville ( N1615 Meadowview Dr.) on Friday November 28, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Kline officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

    You fought a tough battle for a long time never complaining and always with a smile. We will miss you and will always think about you. We won't forget about you either, we miss seeing you and spending time with you. We know you're in a better place in God's hands and have no more struggles. Goodbye and we will always love you Mom.
