    Robert A. Bablitch
    Robert A. Bablitch, 80, 1217 Ridge Road, died Saturday evening, April 2 9, 1995, at St. Michael's Hospital.
    Mr. Bablitch, an attorney, was preceded in death by his wife of near ly 55 years, the former Ruth Rice, on March 20, 1995.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. T he Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate and burial will be in St. Steph en Cemetery. Friends may call form 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Boston Fune ral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in his name for the Gr een Circle Trail and the Portage County Commission on Aging.
    Mr. Bablitch was born May 19, 1914, in Stevens Point, the son of the la te Michael and Martha Bablitch. He attended local schools, graduating fr om Emerson High School in 1932. After two years at Central State Teache rs College, he transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, whe re he received his law degree. After an additional year of study as a l aw fellow, he returned to Stevens Point where he entered private practi ce with then-District Attorney John Meleski.
    Mr. Bablitch served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1942-43 during World W ar II. Following several years as an assistant U.S. attorney for the East ern District of Wisconsin, he began his private law practice. He and Jam es H. Levi were partners in the law firm until 1951 when Levi became a cir cuit court judge. Mr. Bablitch then was associated professionally with at torneys William Diedrich; his son, James Bablitch; and Louis Molepske, ret iring in 1971 for health reasons.
    He was maried to the former Ruth Rice on Oct 5, 1940, at St. Stephen Catho lic Church.
    Until the time of his death, Mr. Bablitch continued his membership in t he American, Wisconsin and Portage County bar associations. He serv ed as Portage County public administrator for more than 20 years.
    Mr. Bablitch was elected to the boards of directors of Security State Ba nk in Amherst Junction and the First National Bank (now M&I Midstate Ban k) in 1949 and served continuously until mandatory retirement in 1984, t he longest span in the history of the bank. He also served as chairm an of the borad for five years.
    Former chairman of the Selective Service Board, Mr. Bablitch also was elec ted to the Stevens Point School Board and served as chairman of the St. St anislaus Catholic School Board at a time when each parish had its own boar d.
    He was a charter member of the Serra Club and was a member of the Americ an Legion, Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus and Elks Clu b. Mr. Bablitch enjoyed golf and spending time with his family.
    Survivors include three sons, Jim (Judy), Stevens Point, Bob (Linda), La C rosse, and Mile (Jean), Plover; three daughters, Liza (Joe) Stewart, Lakew ood, Ohio, Mary Beth (Bob) Katz, Lexington, Mass., and Heidi (John) Anders on, Madison; a brother, the Rev. MIchael Bablitch, Stevens Point; and 10 g randchildren.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandchild.

    Robert married Rice, Ruth Eleanor 5 Oct 1940, Stevens Point, Portage, Wisconsin, USA. Ruth (daughter of Rice, Daniel Stephen M.D. and Heffron, Elizabeth) was born 11 Mar 1916, Stevens Point, Portage, Wisconsin, USA; died 20 Mar 1995, Stevens Point, Portage, Wisconsin, USA; was buried 22 Mar 1995, St. Stephen's Cemetery, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, USA.
