    Kempen, Esther Lorraine "Granny" - Esther Lorraine Kempen, 74, was called to Heaven on Jan. 26, 2008, with family at her side. Esther was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Wittenberg, to the late Emil and Helen (Williams) Schultz. She married Harvey Henry Kempen on July 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1982. Esther was a warm, loving, caring and compassionate woman. She always had a kind word and a warm smile to share. Esther loved her family deeply and always kept them all close to her heart. She was a devoted Christian and loved God endlessly. Esther was a member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton.
    She is survived by sons, Dave (Barb), Phil (Nancy), Rex and Kerry; daughter, Cassie (Bob) Gamble; daughter-in-law, Vicki; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Tommy (Angie), Quston (Morris), Tyler (Erin), Mitchell (Michelle), Jillian, Robert, Scot, Jacob, Caleb and Isaac; eight great-grandchildren, McKayla, TJ, Tabitha, Morris, Connor, Sophia, Javon and Sean; brothers, Lee (Ria) and Mike; sisters, Lila (Orville), Eva, Eleanor, Adeline (Don) and Donna (Rueben).
    Esther was also preceded in death by son, Jeffrey; brother, Marvin; and sister, Eunice.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2008, at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 E. Seymour Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Dennis W. Belter officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    A memorial has been established in her name.
    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Franciscan Care Center for their loving care.

    Kempen, Jeffrey AlanJeffrey Alan Kempen, 47, died unexpectedly Friday, July 23, 2004 in Hamle t, NC. He was born April 6, 1957, in Appleton, WI, the son of Esther and t he late Harvey Kempen. He was united in marriage to Vicki Ammons in N. C. He served his country in the U.S, Army, enjoyed laidback country livi ng and had a gift for storytelling. He enjoyed playing cards and making pe ople laugh. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Quston (Morris) Livingston; s ons, Tommy and Chris; three grandchildren: Tabatha, TJ and Michaela, a ll of NC; his mother, Esther; four brothers: Dave (Barb), Phil (Nancy), R ex and Kerry; a sister, Cassie (Bob) Gamble; eight nephews: Michael, Tyle r, Mitchell, Robert, Scot, Jacob, Caleb and Isaac; and a niece, Jillian.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey.A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 1, 4 p.m. at Riverview Evan gelical Lutheran Church, 136 W. Seymour St., Appleton.The tears we cry are tears for ourselves because we will miss him so.
