Nicholas J. Jansen, Little Chute, age 92, passed away on June 24, 2007, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. He was born August 5, 1914, in Little Chute to the late Cornelius and Anna (Spierings) Jansen. On August 23, 1937, Nick married Lucina H. Bongers at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. They were married 64 years. The couple resided in Little Chute their entire married life. She preceded him in death July 8, 2001. He worked for 38 years at Kimberly Clark Corp. in Kimberly where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Foreman's Club. Nick then worked at St. John's Grade School in Little Chute for 11 years. He graduated from St. John's High School in 1933 and always talked about the great football team they had. One of his fondest memories was from his Senior year when the team was undefeated, untied and not scored upon.
Nick was one of the original founders of the St. John's Athletic Association and was secretary and treasurer for 4 years. He was on the parish Finance Committee, was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Nick had a great love for his wife, Nana, and his children. He treasured family times spent together during the holidays, fishing trips and picnics. They square danced together for many years with the Village Squares. In their retirement years, Nick and Nana enjoyed making road trips to all areas of Wisconsin and visited Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C., and Florida as well. He was a hard worker, very creative and enjoyed sports, especially football.
Nicholas is survived by a son, Ron (Kathy) Jansen, New Berlin; two daughters: Sally (Tom) Turner, Waukesha and Carol (Harland) Hietpas, Little Chute; 16 grandchildren: Heidi (Don) Berken, Kimberly; Kathy (Matt) Diedrich, Appleton; Holly (Mark) Wyro, Wrightstown; Erin (Craig) Hietpas, Little Chute; Dr. Jen (Dr. Brett) Twente, Whitefish Bay; Jessi Jansen, Chicago; Nick Jansen, Milwaukee; Nicole (Rob) Hanosh, Cortaro, Arizona; and Paul and Bryan Turner, Waukesha; 16 great-grandchildren: Kristin, Katie, Jessica and Ben Pynenberg and Jeremiah Berken, Kimberly; Sami Rae, Maia and Jack Diedrich, Appleton; Keanna, Abigail and Emily Wyro, Wrightstown; Tyler, Megan and Mattie Hietpas, Little Chute; and Nate and Leah Twente, Whitefish Bay. The family wishes to extend its gratitude for the loving care and concern extended to Nick during his illness by so many members of the medical staff at St. Paul Home and St. Elizabeth Hospital, his Home Instead caretakers, Jenn, Katie and Bonnie and to Dr. Jack Meyer for all the years he cared for Dad's body, mind and spirit. We are forever grateful to all of you.
