    Obituary:
    Dolores C. Van Gompel, Little Chute, age 87, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at St. Paul's Rehab Center with her family by her side. The daughter of the late Willard and Ethel (Mollen) Zornow, Dolores was born September 26, 1921, in Little Chute. She married Richard R. Van Gompel on July 8, 1943, in Alliance, Nebraska. Dolores worked at a paper mill prior to starting a family and later ran the Log Cabin Bar in Little Chute for a few years with her husband, Richard, and Rich's sister and brother-in-law, Verona and Ted Gloudemans. She loved to travel: camping with the family, bus trips, traveling with Rich's barbershop quartet, and fulfilling her life-long dream to visit Alaska. She enjoyed music, gardening, crafts and was an avid golfer and bowler. She survived Guillain-Barre syndrome when she was 42, then dedicated her life to serving others. Dolores served St. John Church throughout the years by making crafts for the church bazaar, singing in the church choir and funeral choir, cleaning the church and making hospital visits. She also volunteered at Parkside Care Center for 30 years, donated lap robes for veterans, nursing homes and crocheted 100 caps for the Red Cross. Dolores was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
    Dolores is survived by her five children, daughters: Barbara (Jerry "Pat") Elliott, Lisa (Theo) Andersen; sons: Steven, Carl (Barbara) and Mark (friend Joanne Martello); 12 grandchildren: Julie (Alan) Huss, Craig(Sue) Elliott, Matthew (Jamie) Elliott, Gail (Jon) Steidl, Christine (Tony) Lom, Abby, Luke, Pete, Ben, Sara, Jacob and Kala; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Vera Van Grinsven and Jane Revoir; sister-in-laws Verona Gloudemans and Ruth Van Gompel.
    Dolores was preceded in death by many family and friends. She loved life and taught her family as much about living as she did about dying. Our "Mumsie" spent her last days preparing her family for her return to departed loved ones. She will always be remembered for her cheerful disposition and whooping belly laugh that could fill a room with joy.
    Visitation will be held Thursday June 11, 2009, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. The Rev.
