BARNEVELD - Mrs. LeRoy Moyer, 66, Barneveld, died Saturday in a Dodgeville hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Barneveld Congregational Church . (Friends may call at the Roach funeral home, Dodgeville, after 2 p.m. Monday and at the church after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Blue Mounds cemetery, Blue Mounds. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Legrey, 857 E. Gorham St., Madison: Mrs. Walter Meives. 4118 Buckeye rd., Madison; and Mrs. Norman Olson, Blue Mounds: one son. Clarence, Black Earth: two brothers. Will Rogers, Spring Green, and Frank Rogers, Muscoda; and 12 grandchildren.

Meives, Garnetta C. BARNEVELD - Garnetta
C. Meives, age 87, of Barneveld, passed into eternal life on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Jan. 30, 1918, the daughter of LeRoy and Rhoda (Rogers) Moyer, in Barneveld, on the family farm. She graduated from Barneveld High School as valedictorian in 1936. She attended Madison Business College and was employed by the Dean at UW-Madison, where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Professor Walter J. Meives on June 21, 1941. They lived in Madison for many years before moving to the family farm in Barneveld in 1975. Garnetta and Walter were charter members of the Lake Edge United Church of Christ. She was a devoted mother who loved the Lord and whose greatest desire was that her children and grandchildren know Jesus as their personal Savior and be joined with her in Heaven. She was a wonderful role model and we thank God we were blessed to have her as our mother. The most important events of her life, her birth, wedding, and death, were spent on the land she loved the most, the family farm. Survivors are her five children, Lt. Col. Walter J. Meives, Jr. of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, Kama Amidon (Michael Pirkl) of Barneveld, Priscilla (Steve) Zaemisch of Barneveld, Mark Meives (Nicole Stephenson) of Barneveld, and Jim (Mary) Meives of Browntown; and former son-in-law Gary Amidon of Barneveld. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, Jason (Cris) Amidon, Christina (Nathan Faust) Amidon, Justin Amidon, Jeremiah (Lisa) Zaemisch, Rebekah Zaemisch, Bobbie Jo (Scott) Buechner, Alison (Ted Schlimgen) Zaemisch, Benjamin Zaemisch, Mark Steven, Ryan and Wesley Meives, Alex, Tony and Maria Meives and Rockford Meives. seven great-grandchildren, Taya Amidon, Kaitlynn and Brianna Zaemisch, Zachary Zaemisch, and Lexie, Chanler and Tyler Buechner; two sisters, Esther Legrey of Madison, and Clarie Doris Olson of Mount Horeb; her sister-in-law, Nancee Moyer of Janesville; two brothers-in-law, Harry Meives of Beloit, Robert (Anne) Meives of Mission Hills, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Garnetta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter J. Meives on Feb. 17, 1996; her brother, Clarence Moyer on Aug. 15, 2003; and her granddaughter, Catherine Amidon-Olver on Dec. 20, 2000. We wish to thank all those who made it possible for Mom to spend her final days at home. Thank you to Dr. Anne Eglash MD, the Mount Horeb Clinic and staff, Uplands Hills Hospice, especially, Rita Stanton RN, Liz, Angie and Linda. Obituary:
Lt. Col. Walter J. Meives Jr. "Rocky", 66 years old, passed into eternal life Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at U.W. Hospital after a long illness.
He was born on Dec. 6, 1944, in Madison to professor Walter J. Meives and Garnetta C. (Moyer) Meives. As a baby and toddler, he lived on the family farm in Barneveld until his father returned from World War II when the family then moved to Madison.
Rocky attended Frank Allis Grade School and graduated from Monona Grove High School. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh and Marquette School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Madison and West Allis. Rocky's proudest accomplishment was serving in the military for 37 years. When he was stationed in Fort Campbell, Ky., he did the dental work on the troops headed for Iraq. He served in South America, Germany, Kuwait, Afghanistan and South Korea before retiring from the Army in Fort Monmouth, N.J. in 2009. He then moved back to the family farm in Barneveld. Rocky loved sports and was an avid Badgers and Packers fan. He always tried to catch the games while he was overseas. He found comfort in attending Capitoland Christian Center, Madison.
Rocky is survived by his son, Rockford, 11 years old, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Rockford was a precious gift which came later in Rocky's life and was Rocky's great joy. Rocky is also survived by his loving daughter, Attorney Michelle Canaday (David Kinigson) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Dakota Burnstad, Nicole Volk and Dustin Volk; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Franklin and JacobVolk, all of Florida. Rocky was very proud of his daughter and her many accomplishments. Rocky is survived by siblings, Kama Amidon Pirkl (Mike Pirkl), Priscilla Zaemisch (Steve), Mark Meives (Nicole, fiancee) and Jim Meives (Mary); numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins; and many friends throughout the world. He is also survived by his best friends, John Berg and George Shier.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, Walter (1996) and Garnetta (2005); and niece, Catherine Amidon-Olver on Dec. 20, 2000.
Rocky had a great life traveling the world and serving our country. He made friends where ever he went and always had great stories to tell. Rocky's whole life was dedicated to excellence in everything he did...from root canals to snowshoeing.
There will be a private funeral service officiated by Stephen Stauffacher, Capitoland Christian Center, with immediate family members. There will be a celebration of Rocky's life at the family farm in June 2011.
