Obituary:
Walker, Imelda R., 1116 Harri son Street, KaukaunaAge 77, died Tuesday evening, January 27, 2004, following a courageous bat tle with kidney disease. She was born August 6, 1926, to the late Antho ny and Marie (Janssen) Van Gompel, in Little Chute and had been an area re sident all of her life. Imelda had been employed as a store manger for Cam pbell Clothing Store until its closing. In her retirement years, Imelda en joyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, visiting c asinos, some travel and her pets at home. She was a member of Holy Cross C atholic Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Vic ki Walker, Kaukauna; two daughters, Cheryl Vandenberg, Kaukauna; Susan Wal ker and her special friend, Gerald Zivkovich, Freedom; five grandchildre n, Angela (Stephen) Snyder, Dayna Walker, Travis Vandenberg and his speci al friend, Ashley Janssen, Rory and Ali Gerow; a great granddaughter, Em ma Snyder; Jason Quella, a family friend; three brothers and sisters-in-la w, Peter and Jenny Schmalz, Darboy; Dick and Audrey Van Gompel, Little Chu te; Marc and Mary Van Gompel, Gillett; a sister and brother-in-law, Lyn da and Norb Weyers, Kaukauna; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Van Gompel, L ittle Chute. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Walker, to wh om she had been married for 44 years, two brothers, Henry and James Van Go mpel and two sisters, Regina and Josephine (Herbert) Lom. The funeral litu rgy for Imelda will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Friday, January 30, 200 4, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, with Father James L ucas officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may ca ll at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the mass.
