Researcher on this lineage, EmailJay,My Irish ancestors are Michael Hawley (Hally in Ireland) and Catheri ne English and their 13 children (11 of whom came to Wis, some with famili es. My line goes Michael, Edward, Edward, William, William & me. Don't h ave much on the surname English except some probable siblings of Catheri ne - but that is another search. The Hawley family is who I was thinki ng of when I put that post on Gen Wis. My Scottish ancestors are Lambi e. My English ancestors are Barker. I also have VanderLinden, Bemis, Sch linder, Keily, Foley, etc. I grew up in that area although I don't li ve there now. I know where the Hally's come from in Ireland and have be en there. And I know the farm where they first settled in 1855 - it is ne ar where the Outagamie Airport lies now. I have not found where in NY th ey lived nor where they entered the US. I am trying to find some information about my 2nd great grand-aunt CatherineHally who married Christopher Mahon or McMahon. They immigrated toWisconsin. Catherine was baptized on 8 June 1828 in Ireland (sourceWaterford Heritage Center, County Tipperary). Their first child was born inMay 1855 but I don't know when Christopher and Catherine married. I believetheir children are Timothy (1855) either born in Wis or Mich, Thomas (1860),Annie (1862), Katie, Eliza, Julia and John (birth dates unknown). I believethat I have found the family in the1880 Census living in Courtland, Columbia, Wisconsin but not Christopher. I believe the family was in Wisconsin by 1858 as I have found a land record.I have found no information on Christopher. He must have died prior to 1880. They may have married in New York or Michigan. Any information on where they were in earlier census records and whenChristopher died would be greatly appreciated. Catherine parents wereMichael Hally and Catherine English who settled in Outagamie County, Greenville, Wisconsin.

Thank you again for the scholarly additions.
Where to begin? First, my fourth cousin Sandra Hawley traveled to Newcastle, County Tipperary, Ireland several years ago and obtained information from the baptismal certificates including baptismal sponsors for all of the thirteen children of Michael Hally and Kate English, all of them Hallys including many of the sponsors. As far as I or anyone knows, the name only became Hawley after most of the family, except Patrick Hally who stayed behind, immigrated to America (one son died in transport and another died shortly after arrival). As far as I know, the name Hawley was adopted only after arrival as an anglicized, Americanized version of Hally. I have an Irish ancestral map printed in Michigan which probably follows Hogan's and Carney's suggestions because it lists the name as Holy located in NW Kilkenny around the town of Urlingford which would have been Osraigh territory, although they are listed as Ciannacht, perhaps through a confusion between the earlier Osraigh Cearbhall and the later Eile Cearbhall ancestor of O'Carrolls, unless Eile O'Carroll did in fact extend to that part of Kilkenny at that time which would imply that they were Ciannacht. One son of Michael and Kate in Meridian, Michigan used the name Holly, and that seems to be the preferred pronunciation in America. So based on the location in Tipperary, we are probably talking about O'hAilche insofar as Mulhall of Waterford as Hally would be the exception which proves the rule. Just because the name is Hawley in America by one family does not, in my humble opinion, make all of the Hallys of Aughavanlomaun Mulhalls.

O'Hart places Tuath Ferault in Tipperary in the vicinity of Templemore I believe, and extending into Kilkenny in the vicinity of Urlingford. By suggesting that they were a branch of the O'Kennedy's, he seems to me to imply that this territory was part of Ormond. Woulfe likewise places them in and around Templemore, and later appearing as merhants in Cashel and in Kilmallock, County Limerick. This would also tend to suggest that they were of Viking origin, as some Vikings could have become "middle men" after the Viking defeat at clontarf in 1013 AD.

As noted previously, the name Ailche, of old memory in Eire, was used as a synonym or substitute for the Norse name Helgi. As previously noted, there was a gentleman named Helgi at that time who was half Norwegian and half Irish being the son of Eivind Austmann of Norway and Rafertach daughter of Kjarval identified with King Cearbhall of Ossory, as I have discovered in a note to a recent addition of Saxo's History of Denmark. (Sorry, I don't have the name of the original saga manuscript but it may be listed in the note.) This would tend to support the view of an Ossory origin of Hally as a Viking or half Viking family. Parenthetically, Hawley is in some cases etymologically of Norse origin which may have influenced the choice of the Americanized version Hawley of the Hally family in America.

I referred to the 12th century manuscript "Wars of Ceallachan of Cashel" to provide one explanation of how O'hAilche, if in fact of Danish origin as suggested by Rev. Woulfe, could have been associated with the O'Kennedy sept as stated in O'Hart's Irish Pedigrees where he also says that they were hereditary physicians. I agree that membership in a sept does not necessarily imply paternal descent. However, it does indicate close family bonds, and this is what I take O'Hart to mean when he says that O'hAilche was a branch of the O'Kennedys of Ormond, as I also agree with Woulfe that they were originally Danish Vikings, not to suggest that this was an attempt to falsify a pedigree. Rather, because I believe that they were ordinary Vikings of Waterford or south Tipperary, there is no record of their actual ancestry and probably was none then either. I do agree with you insofar as I do not believe they were transposed from North Tipperary or County Kilkenny to the Newcastle area, also in agreement with Dan Hawley of Newcastle in this respect, who incidentally does believe that all of the Hallys in that area including himself although using a different spelling are O'hAilche.

i also had Edward's date of birth as 11/25/1825 because that is what it sa ys on his headstone in St Patrick's Cemetary in Neenah. However I definit ely have his baptismal date as 2 Jan 1823. I don't know the exact birth d ate of any of the children, but with the baptismal dates, we can estima te the birth dates as maybe from 1-2 weeks before depending on how long af terward they were baptized. I assume that they were baptized in the chur ch itself.

Owned farms near Appleton. It was his parents farm, which he returned to after he worked in Green Bay for a while. He married when he returned to operate the farm. His son James continued to operate the family farm. As of 1971, David had 9 children, 22 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchild ren, and 70 great-great-grandchildren.

My gg grandfather was baptized on 2 Jan 1823. There were 13 childr en of Michael Hawley (Hally) and Catherine English. I have found baptism al records of all but 2 of them. There is also a ? Hawley, who has develo ped one of the finest farms in his section of Greenville township throu gh a knowledge of soil and climatic conditions, backed by hard work and go od management, is a son of David Hawley, a native of County Tipperary, Ire land. David Hawley came to the United States in young manhood, and was abo ut twenty years of age when he settled in Greenville township, after havi ng spent a short time in Green Bay. He settled on wild timber land, on whi ch he built a little log house, and this was his home until he had clear ed and cultivated a part of his farm, when he erected a better home of fra me, and here he continued to reside until his death, January 11, 1890. M r. Hawley married Margarette Sheirdan, who was born in County Wexford, Ire land, and she died January 4, 1906, having been the mother of nine childre n. James E. Hawley was born August 20, 1876, and received his educati on in the district schools of Greenville township and St. Mary's scho ol in Appleton. He has always worked on the home farm, and when his fath er died, his elder brother, Thomas, took charge of the property, being t he manager thereof until James E. was nineteen years old when the latter t ook charge, and so continued until the mother's death in 1906, at which ti me James E. purchased the interest of the other heirs and has since operat ed the farm alone. He has been a hard and faithful worker and has broug ht the land into a high state of cultivation and equipped it with good, su bstantial barn and outbuildings and with modern power machinery. Biography:
James E. Hawley, who h as developed one of the finest farms in his section of Greenville townsh ip through a knowledge of soil and climatic conditions, backed by hard wo rk and good management, is a son of David Hawley, a native of County Tippe rary, Ireland. David Hawley came to the United States in young manhood, a nd was about twenty years of age when he settled in Greenville township, a fter having spent a short time in Green Bay. He settled on wild timber lan d, on which he built a little log house, and this was his home until he h ad cleared and cultivated a part of his farm, when he erected a better ho me of frame, and here he continued to reside until his death, January 1 1, 1890. Mr. Hawley married Margarette Sheirdan, who was born in County We xford, Ireland, and she died January 4, 1906, having been the mother of ni ne children. James E. Hawley was born August 20, 1876, and received his ed ucation in the district schools of Greenville township and St. Mary's scho ol in Appleton. He has always worked on the home farm, and when his fath er died, his elder brother, Thomas, took charge of the property, being t he manager thereof until James E. was nineteen years old when the latter t ook charge, and so continued until the mother's death in 1906, at which ti me James E. purchased the interest of the other heirs and has since operat ed the farm alone. He has been a hard and faithful worker and has broug ht the land into a high state of cultivation and equipped it with good, su bstantial barn and outbuildings and with modern power machinery. He carri es on general farming and dairying, and the large crops which he raises te stify to his ability as a farmer. Mr. Hawley has never married, but sin ce his mother's death his niece, Mary Mailey, daughter of his sister Marga ret, has kept house for him. He is a consistent member of St. Mary's Catho lic Church of Appleton.

Age 83, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Saturday following a short illness. He was born October 9, 1890 in Milwaukee and was formerly employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railway for 55 years as a telegrapher. He retired 17 years ago. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Survivors are his wife, Odila; a son, Gordon J. of Appleton; a sister, Miss Rose Hawley of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Thomas G. of Oshkosh, Mrs. Ken (Suzanne) Newberry of Madison, Terry J. and Calvin P. and Colleen all of Appleton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Therese Catholic Church with interment in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin funeral Home from 5 until 9 p.m. on Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday until the hour of service. She was a member of the Most Precious Blood Catho lic Church and the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed reading and piano playin g, which was her true joy in later years. She was a loving caring pers on that will be sadly missed by her family. Willard Hawley, age 87, of Appleton, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Brewster Village. Willard was born in Appleton on June 14, 1925 to the late James E. and Mary Ellen (Hardy) Hawley. On April 29, 1953, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Keating. The couple enjoyed over 40 years together until her death in 1994. Willard worked as an engineer at Neenah High School for many years, retiring in 1981. Willard enjoyed singing in the Barber Shop Choir and was a member of the Greenville Bachelors Club, St. Bernard Choir, and St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Willard loved golfing, bowling, gardening, woodworking, and playing cribbage - once having a perfect hand
He will be missed by his daughter, Patricia (Tom Vargo) Hawley, Appleton; two sons: Michael (Marlene) Hawley, Hortonville and Willard (Lynda) Hawley Jr., Florence, WI; 7 grandchildren: Tim (Stacey) Hawley, Lorraine Vargo, Katie Vargo, Tony (Tara) Hawley, Colleen (Billy) Daul, and Kris Hawley; 3 great grandchildren: Kohen, Ally, and Macey. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The daughter of the late John and Mabel (Nies) Campbell was born May 23, 1921 in Morrison. She attended Wrightstown High School and the Kaukauna Normal School. Muriel married Leon John Martin on June 20, 1944 in Morrison. She taught at St. Mary Catholic School in Greenleaf. She loved to crochet, play cards, golf and bowl. Muriel was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greenleaf.

Eileen M. Shinners, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna, Wis., with her family at her side. She was born in Appleton, Wis., on March 10, 1920, to Bonnaventure and Marion (Campbell) Shinners. Eileen was a lifelong member of St. Mary's parish and also belonged to the Ladies of St. Mary's, the Catholic Daughters of America, Monte Alverno Retreat Guild, and was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth's Auxillary. She also worked for forty years at Wisconsin Bell.
Eileen is survived by a brother, James (Ruth) Shinners, Sheboygan; sisters, Kate Abendroth, Appleton; Jim and Ruth's children, Mike, Mary Jo, Jim, Barb, John, Anne, Jean, Kathy, Trish, Tom, Patrick, and Sara; Catherine's children, Bob, Marty, Peggy, Barb, Bonnie, Mary, and Mark.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Frank Abendroth.

Catharine Elizabeth Abendroth, age 86, passed away September 3, 2015 with her family at her side at Appleton Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1928 in Appleton, the daughter of the late Bonaventure and Marion (Campbell) Shinners. She lived most of her life in the Appleton area. Catharine was united in marriage to Frank Abendroth on June 13, 1953 in Sherwood, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2004. She spent most of her life raising 7 children, Robert, Martha, Megan, Barbara, Bonnie, Mary and Mark. She worked as a switchboard operator at TelSec and Appleton Medical Center from where she retired. Her passions were cooking, spending time in the great outdoors, sewing, quilting, reading and traveling the back roads. In retirement Catharine and Frank traveled to Europe, New York, Montana, Colorado and Florida. She and Frank also spent a great deal of time in Door County. She continued to travel after Frank passed, adding memories from, Alaska, Hawaii, and Idaho.
She is survived by her 7 children, Robert (Kathie) Abendroth, Mark (Nancy) Abendroth, Martha (Reed) Polzin, Megan (Jim) Toole, Barbara (Ron) Hvizdak, Bonnie (Dave) Heatwole, and Mary (Brian) Borkovec, eight grandchildren, Abigail (Joe) Gilbert, Courtney, Amanda (Tom) McHugh, Michael, Hunter, Carly, Kyle and his special friend Stepanie Polich and Morgan, great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Tanner, and her close friends Joyce Long, Anne Van Herwynen, Carol Smith and Kathy Meixl. Catharine was also preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Shinners and a brother, James Shinners.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, 1810 N MacDonald Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Catharine's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. the mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Gladys was born November 15, 1914 to t he late John and Bridget (McDaniel) Kerrigan in the town of Freedom. She m arried John Ver Voort on June 27, 1940 in Wrightstown. He preceded h er in death on December 20, 2003. John and Gladys farmed in the Town of Fr eedom for many years. Gladys graduated from the Outagamie Co. Teachers Col lege and taught for many years as an elementary teacher. She dedicated mu ch of her life to the youth, including 45 years as a 4-H Leader in Outagam ie County, advisor to the Farm Bureau Older Youth and was a school teach er starting in a one-room school and more recently she taught at Holy Cros s, Holy Name and St. Pius X. Rosella Vander Heiden, 96, Neenah, passed away at home August 23, 2012, accompanied by her loving family. Rosella was born in the Town of Kaukauna, April 24, 1916, daughter of John and Jenny Kerrigan, and grew up on a farm near Wrightstown. After marrying Ray Vander Heiden on June 15, 1939, the newlyweds purchased a farm in the Town of Kaukauna. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2009. The couple left dairy farming in 1947 but still possessed quite a few acres for crops and a large vegetable garden. The urge never left, however, and Ray and Rosella purchased a large dairy farm in the Town of Clayton just west of Neenah in 1953. Although dairy farming was her passion, she also was proud to be an elementary teacher at several schools throughout her life. An avid quilter and card player, Mom enjoyed traveling, and was the driving force behind taking the whole family on a road trip in 1962 to Yellowstone, Seattle's World Fair, Disneyland and points in between. She also visited family over the years in California, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida. She and Ray went on a bus tour to Quebec which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Rosella was active in the Winnebago County Holstein Breeders Association, the Wisconsin Holstein Association, and the National Holstein Association. Together with her husband, she enjoyed raising and managing prized Holstein dairy animals.
She is survived by a son, Wayne (Sara) Vander Heiden, Greenville; four daughters: Mary Jane Volkman, Neenah; Joanne (Mike) Norton, Princeton; Donna (Mike) Hadler, Menasha; and Sarah (Will) Grotjan, Neenah; 13 grandchildren: Lisa (Erick) Wahlfeld, Mike Vander Heiden, both of Greenville; Rick (Denise) Vander Heiden, McKinney, TX; Jessica (Tim) Kudzia, Abingdon, MD; John (Amy) Volkman, Brussels, WI; Annie Miller, Neenah; Jenna (Rob) Norton, Melissa (Rob) Curran, both of Ripon; Katie Norton, Madison; Jason Felton, New Haven, CT; Tyler Felton, Menasha; Laura and Billy Grotjan, both of Neenah; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Mary Vander Heiden, Blanche Kerrigan, and Dorothy Kerrigan; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; five brothers: Elmer, Earl, Harvey, Gordon, and Patrick Kerrigan; a sister, Gladys Ver Voort; a son, Roger Vander Heiden; and a grandson, David Vander Heiden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, where Rosella was an original member. Fr. Larry Seidl will officiate. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Wrightstown. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial for Rosella has been established in her name for St. Gabriel Parish.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Theda Care at Home, Hospice, and Dr. Curtis Baltz, for their excellent and compassionate care. We also appreciate Fr. Richard Allen, Fr. Larry Seidl, and parish members of St. Gabriel's for their support throughout the years.

Kerrigan, Gordon F.Gordon F. Kerrigan, Kaukauna, age 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 1 6, 2005 at Cherry Meadows after a seven-year courageous battle with multip le myeloma. Gordon was born May 20, 1922 in the Town of Kaukauna to John a nd Jennie (McDaniel) Kerrigan. He married the former Blanche Sanderfo ot on September 23, 1947 at St. John's in Little Chute. Together they shar ed 57 years of marriage. Gordon entered the U.S. Medical Corps on Octob er 16, 1942 and served with the 3rd Army 664 Division until his honorab le discharge on November 3, 1945. After the war, he worked at Kimberly-Cla rk until he established his dairy farm in the Town of Kaukauna. Gordon wor ked the farm until his retirement at which time he sold the property th at was then developed as part of Royal St. Patrick's Golf Course. He serv ed on the Town of Kaukauna Town Board, Apple Creek School Board of Educati on and the Wrightstown High School Board of Education. Robert E. "Bob" McMahon, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born in Neenah on July 19, 1924, the son of the late Albert and Grace (Hawley) McMahon. On June 28, 1952, he married his wife of 58 years, Rita Lutz, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, both in Europe, and the Pacific. Bob was past president of McMahon Associates, an engineering and architectural civil service company in the Fox River Valley founded by his father, and currently known as The McMahon Group. He will be remembered for the love of his family, unfailing generosity, infectious sense of humor, and love of travel with Rita in their RV. They would go wherever four wheels would take them, and even to the "ends of the earth" to visit their family.

Alice Weber, age 95, of Menasha, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. Alice was born February 12, 1918, in Appleton, the daughter of Charles C. and Irene (Hawley) Gear. She had two siblings: Sybil and Margaret (Midge). She graduated from Menasha High School in 1935. Alice married the love of her life, J. Gordon Weber on April 23, 1938, at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Menasha. She worked at Vals Beauty Salon until the birth of her first son and then became a full time homemaker. The Webers had four children; Chuck, Barb, Bob and Jim. During her high school years she was a proud member of the Menasha High School Band. In 1931 the band took first honors in the marching contest at the Nationals in Tulsa, OK and in 1933 the band performed at the World Fair in Chicago. At one of these events they were directed by John Philip Sousa. Alice was a Pink Lady at Theda Clark Medical Center since January 25, 1971 and a life member of their auxiliary. She knit many baby sweaters for the gift shop at the hospital. Alice was a member of the DAR, the Menasha Homemakers (in which she held several offices), and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She loved music, knitting, crafts, reading, baking, cooking, watching the Green Bay Packers and spending time with her family. Her favorite saying was it could be worse. Survivors include her four children: Chuck (Jean) Weber, Chaska, MN; Barb (Ken) Couillard, Appleton; Bob (Kris) Weber, Surprise, AZ; and Jim (Lisa) Weber, Green Bay; eleven grandchildren: Deanna (Carl) Prine, Bryan (Shanna) Weber, Todd (Julie) Pyszora, David Pyszora, Jason (Stephanie) Weber, Curt (Bobbie Jo) Weber, Craig (Jennifer) Weber, James Weber, Allison Weber, and Jordan Weber; two step grandchildren: Kathy (Jon) Willis and Kerri (Gary) Jepson; 13 great-grandchildren: Ella and Cole Weber; Emily and Rachel Pyszora; Jacob, Josh and Joey Weber; Kara and Ben Weber; Bryce and Conner Weber; and Wyatt and Riddik Aspenson; and three step great-grandchildren: Arron and Emma Willis, and Keither Jepson. Edward J. Hawley (Uncle Eddie), age 88 passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday August 6, 2014. Eddie was born in Appleton on January 5th, 1926. He grew up on a small farm in Mackville, where he attended school and mass his whole life. It was there that he met his future bride Mary Hofacker. They were married on June 9th, 1962, and spent just over two years together when a tragic car accident claimed Mary's life on October 23, 1964.
Eddie was very proud to serve his country as a member of the United States Army, and fought in the Korean War. Upon his return he worked for many years at Appleton Mfg and Hayes Mfg. Eddie was very active at his home parish of St Edward in Mackville. He was always faithful in making sure the doors were unlocked for all masses along with other duties that he reverently attended too. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage and was known to send cards and partake in a little green beer celebrating for St Patrick Day.
Three years ago Eddie was no longer able to live in the house he called home since his early childhood. This move took him to the nursing home, most recently Carolina Manor. It was evident to all of us, by how many visitors he had in his final hours, just how well he was loved by all of the staff and fellow residents.
Eddie is survived by many family members, most notably his nephew and caretaker Kevin Hawley. He is further survived by his in-laws: Rose and Ila Mae Hawley; Annie, Paul, Tony, Vera, Delores, Geraldine, Cheryl, Mary Ellen, and Roseanne Hofacker, Linda DeBruin, Charlotte Belonger, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his beloved Mary, Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Rose Hawley; Mary's parents William and Ruth Hofacker; brothers Norbert and Kenneth Hawley; in-laws, Francis, Joe, William Jr, John (Red), Henry, and Nicholas Hofacker, Robert and Margaret Parker, Howard and Catherine Belonger, Marilyn Nielsen; niece Kristine Hofacker; nephew William (Bud) Hofacker III, great niece Hope Hofacker, and a very special great nephew Eric Hawley.
Funeral liturgy for Eddie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 12, 2014 at ST. EDWARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, Highway 47 N, Mackville, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the St. Edward Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Eddie's name is being established.

Hawley, Kenneth A. "Kenny"Ken Hawley, age 72, of Appleton, died at his home on Friday, Sept. 2, 20 05 with his loving family at his side, following a 32-year battle with dia betes. Ken was born in Appleton on Nov. 9, 1932, son of the late David "Ar t" and Rose (Peters) Hawley. As a young man, he worked with his fami ly on the farm near Appleton, and for over twenty years worked at Kool's B rothers in Menasha. Since 1982 he had worked for the Outagamie County High way Department, and for over twenty-five years was a member of the Grand C hute Fire Department. His number one priority was spending time with his f amily, and he also enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, and raising pheasant s. Everyone will remember the soft spot he had for his dog Buddy, and h ow he enjoyed his company.On May 22, 1957, Ken married the former Ilene "Ila Mae" Meulemans in Wrigh tstown; she survives. Jerome C. Hawley, age, 82, found peace at home among family at his bedside, on Monday, May 25, 2009. He was born on October 15, 1926, son of the late, Raymond and Johanna (Peters) Hawley. Jerome was a medic in the Pacific Theatre (Japan) during WWII. He received a Journeyman Tinsmith degree from Fox Valley Technical College and then was employed with James River Paper Company where he worked until his retirement in 1985. Jerome enjoyed spending time with his family and was always willing to help build or repair anything possible. He loved to go to the casino and found the quarter machines with the handles to be his favorite. Jerome also found much enjoyment working on different projects up north. On May 28, 1949, Jerome married Romilda Mainz in Charlesburg, WI.
He is survived by his wife; Romilda of nearly 60 years, three children; Debra (Gary) Pontow, Appleton; Jane (Craig) Johnson, Darboy; and Mark (Bonnie) Hawley, Appleton. Jerome is further survived by six grandchildren: Luke (Christy) Hawley, Appleton; Laura (fiance, Paul Witt) Hawley, Clintonville; Caitlin (fiance, Ben Van Den Wyngaard) Abel, Darboy; Phillip and Mark Pontow, Appleton; and Tony Abel, Darboy; a great-grandson, Carter Hawley, Clintonville: and a sister; Mildred (Robert) Gerrits.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Gladys, a godson, Robert "Bobbie" Gerrits and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Mary was born on July 6, 1927, in the Town of Harris on to the late Erwin and Florence (Hawley) Kufner. She married Norman V an Heuklon on October 8, 1946, in Appleton. Mary Louise was a loving wif e, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.Survivors include her husband of 57 years; her children: Marge Van Heukl on (Paul Freund), Norma (Ken) Sanderfoot, Mary Ann (Ray) Grassl, Robert (R enae) Van Heuklon, Richard (Mary) Van Heuklon, Roger Van Heuklon (Fiona Do yle), and Nancy (Gilbert) Young; her siblings: Jean Wojahn, Janet (Donal d) Warner, Yvonne (Ernie) Meulemans, John Kufner, and Jim (Glenda) Kufne r; her grandchildren: Fr. Brian Sanderfoot, Jennifer (Ian) Miller, Andy Pa redes, Amy (Rick) Barribeau, Julie (Tony) Gilbert, Jay (Jessie) Dick, Kar en (Joe) Ziegler, Nick (Genelle) Van Heuklon, Nikole Van Heuklon, Melis sa Salm, Eric Van Heuklon, Matthew Young (fiance Beth), Kevin Sanderfoo t, Stephanie Abraham, Sandy Salm, Seth Van Heuklon, Sarah Young, Michel le Young and Elizabeth Young; her seven great-grandchildren: Evan, Kayl i, Alisha, Mason, Mackenzie, Spencer and Amaia. Yvonne Florence (Kufner) Meulemans, age 70, of Kaukauna, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at Appleton Medical Center. She was born February 5, 1939, in the Town of Menasha to the late Erwin and Florence (Hawley) Kufner. On September 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ernest Meulemans and together they celebrated their 50th anniversary this past September.
She is survived by her beloved husband Ernest; her three daughters: Patrice (Richard) Wagner, Appleton; Lynn (Rick) Thurman, Oshkosh; and Sara Meulemans, Wrightstown; her two sons: Gary (Deb), Darboy; and Eric (Kathleen), Sheboygan; former daughter-in-law, Tami; ten grandchildren: Jessica (Bee) Moua, Tanya (Jose) Martinez, Joshua (Ashley) Meulemans, Chris McCann, Cody (Melinda) Anderson, Kaz and Kallan Anderson, Megan Thurman, Shayna and Dienna Meulemans; great-grandchildren: Serenity, Angelina, Matthew, Brianna Moua, and Reid Anderson; two great-grandsons on the way: Quinton and Anderson; two sisters: Janet Warner and Jean Wojahn; two brothers: John Kufner and Jim (Glenda) Kufner; brothers and sisters-in-law: Norm Van Heuklon, David (June) Van Ryzin, Margaret Kufner, Jan Meulemans, Roger (Audrey) Meulemans, Dee (Vern) Blodgett, and Pearl (Bill) Broeren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. ALOYSIUS SITE, 2401 Main Ave., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received directly at church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for Haven of Hope Daycare. James "Jim" Norman Kufner, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 23, 2010. He was born in Appleton on February 8, 1946, the son of the late Erwin and Florence (Hawley) Kufner.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and he will be truly missed.
Jim is lovingly survived by his wife, Glenda Kufner of Appleton; children: Lane (Rachel) Kufner, Jared (special friend, Bridget Pahnke) Kufner of Appleton, Justin Kufner of Oshkosh, Jana Kufner of Appleton; grandson, Austin Kufner; sisters: Jean Wojahn, Janet Warner; brother, John Kufner; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Margaret Kufner; and brothers-in-law: Norm Van Heuklon, Dave (June) Van Ryzin and Ernest Meulemans.
