    Marie A. Huiting, 103, Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Paul Home. She was born on May 12, 1908, in Kaukauna, to the late Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. Marie married Joseph Huiting on Aug. 16, 1932, in Little Chute. In 1946, they moved to Reedsville where they owned and operated Huiting Electric until Joe's death on Dec. 6, 1956. After Joe's death, Marie worked as an assistant cook at the Reedsville High School, leaving to care for her father in Little Chute for 10 years. She then worked as a housekeeper at North Shore Golf Club. Marie was a longtime member at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She most recently attended Holy Name Church in Kimberly. Marie was an avid crafter, enjoying knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren. Many will remember her for love of playing cards and her stories and jokes. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
    She is survived by her son, Robert Huiting, Green Bay; daughter, Mary (Gene) Gauthier, Oshkosh; son-in-law, Edgar Nate, Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister, Rosella Van Dyke, Kaukauna; brother-in-law, Theodore (Jule) Huiting, Little Chute; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Elaine Nate; son-in-law, Alois Linsmeier; daughter-in-law, Shirley Huiting; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Cyril Bongers (infant) and Joseph Bongers and two sisters, Catherine Schumacher and Lucina Jansen.
    The funeral liturgy for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 400 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Reedsville. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

    Obituary:
    Catherine J. Schumacher, age 99, formerly of Kimberly, passed away Monday evening, April 6, 2009, at St. Paul Home. Catherine was born March 1, 1910, in Little Chute, to Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. On June 24, 1933, she was united in marriage to the late Martin H. Schumacher at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Martin preceded her in death on June 24, 1947.
    For 25 years Catherine worked at Paul Wydeven Insurance as a secretary. She was a faithful member at Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a past Chief Ranger.
    Catherine is survived by her four children: Eleanor De Koch, Gerald (Mary) Schumacher, both of Kimberly, Kenneth (Sarah) Schumacher, Onalaska, WI, Dennis (Judy) Schumacher, Hiles, WI; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchild; two sisters: Marie Huiting and Rosella Van Dyke, both of Kaukauna; two brothers: Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister-in-law: Evelyn Bongers, Kimberly; and other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her husband, Martin, Catherine is preceded in death by her son-in-law: Charles De Koch; her sister: Lucina Jansen; two brothers, Cyril and Joseph Bongers; three sisters-in-law: Helen, Wilma, and Barbara Bongers; three brothers-in-law: Joseph Huiting, Emil Van Dyke, and Nick Jansen; one daughter-in-law: Susan Schumacher; a grandson; a great-grandson; and many other Schumacher family members.

    Rosella P. Van Dyke, formerly of Kimberly, age 99, died Monday May 7, 2012 at the St. Paul Home. She was born on Little Chute on April 29, 1913 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Rosella married Emil Van Dyke on August 21, 1935 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1978. Rosella enjoyed playing bingo and socializing during the St. Paul Home's happy hour and the monthly dinner outings. She also liked to read, knit, crochet and play in her neighborhood monthly card club.

    Age 87, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, d ue to complications with kidney disease and diabetes. Lucina was born M ay 9, 1914, in Little Chute to the late Henry W. and Nellie (Bergman) Bong ers. She married Nicholas J. Jansen August 23, 1937, at St. John Cathol ic Church in Little Chute and they resided in Little Chute their entire ma rried life.
    She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society, the Catholic Order of Fores ters and the Mission Club, with whom she made many beautiful rosaries. S he loved to play cards, especially sheepshead. She enjoyed fishing with h er family while vacationing in the North during the summer. She was bless ed with creativity which she expressed through many different crafts and n eedlework. Her singing voice was beautiful, although she chose to sing mos tly when she thought no one was listening. Her cooking was excellent and s he appreciated sharing a meal someone else had cooked by saying "It was ju st as good as if you would have fussed." In their earlier years, she and N ick shared many wonderful times square-dancing with friends and were membe rs of the "Village Squares." In more recent years, they enjoyed trips thro ughout the United States. Favorite times were those spent with her fami ly where she would always acknowledge as she left, "I had a good time at y our party." She loved the Green Bay Packers.

Our gratitu de also to Dr. Brian Schreiber, Dr. Kim Reiss-Sagers and Dr. Jack Meyer f or the years they cared for her, and to Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen for a ll of the spiritual support he gave to Lucina and her family.
    We are standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the mor ning breeze and starts for the ocean. We stand watching her until she fad es on the horizon and someone at my side says, "She is gone." Gone wher e? The lost sight is in me, not in her. Just at the moment when someone sa ys, "She is gone," there are others who are watching her coming. Their voi ces take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that is dying.

    Orville J. Bongers, Little Chute, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the age of 95 with his loving family at his side. Orville was born March 12, 1916, in Little Chute, to the late Henry W. and Petronella Bongers, one of eight children. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary in 1931, and graduated from St. John High School in 1933. Orville enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, completed Officer's Candidate School, served on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and the Army Reserve until 1952. He attained the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corp. In 1944, he married Barbara Hammen, high school classmate and love of his life, and together they raised their family of five children. They opened their home to Barbara's sisters, Elizabeth and Jane in 1952, and for many years this "family of nine" shared a great deal of love and fun together. Orville worked 40 years for Kimberly-Clark as an instrument technician/foreman, and retired in 1976 to spend more time with his family, his golf game, Sheephead and fighting the "battle of the weeds" in his lawn. He was a lifelong member of St. John Church and a man of great faith. In addition to serving on the St. John Parish Council and School Board, he ushered, lectured, and was a co-founder and first appointed president of the St. John Athletic Association. Years later he was indeed proud to be inducted into the Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Athletics were a large part of who Orville was. He played for the Northern States Traveling Baseball League in his younger years, refereed many high school and college basketball games in the area and only gave up working on his golf game when his arthritic ankles would not allow it. Orville was a proud member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, serving as its Post Commander in 1952. He also belonged to the Quarter Century Club and Atlas Management Club at Kimberly-Clark.
    Those who knew Orville knew him to be a man of principle, a man of old-fashioned honor with an insatiable appetite for reading novels, newspapers, sports magazines, and anything he could get his hands on. He loved a good prank, funny joke, or hearing a good story, and always had one of his own to share. Orville was real-life hero to his family - the kind of man/person you wanted to be like someday. He loved everyone always, and we loved him back. This wonderful man died with a smile on his face and fulfillment in his heart. He had done his best to be the kind of husband, father and friend we could be proud of and knew he "gave it everything he had."
    Orville is survived by his children, Charles J. (Joyce) Bongers, Grand Chute; Ellen (Philip) Vanderhyden Jr., Menasha; Janet (Jack) Kruse, Sherwood; Anne (Jeff) Weiland, Appleton; and Stephen (Deb) Bongers, Grand Chute. Grandchildren, Christopher and Leanne Bongers, Elizabeth (Joseph) Franzoi, Philip III and John Vanderhyden, Andrew (Laura) Kruse, Anne (Matt) Lautz, Bradley Kruse, Neil (Jessica) Weiland, Laura (Owen) Yaklin, Pam (Travis) Lowe, Leah (John) Van Rooy, and Kale, Quinn and Nicholas Bongers. Great-grandchildren, Drew and Bryn Korth, Alexandra and Theodore Kruse, Nolan Lautz, Katie, Claire and Nora Weiland, and Sara Yaklin. He was also looking forward to the arrival of four additional great-grandchildren.
    He is further survived by his siblings, Bernard "Beany" Bongers and Rosella Van Dyke; brother and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bongers, Grace Hoffman, Marian Vanden Heuvel, Gordon (Margy) Hammen, Josephine Hammen, Betty Hammen and Jane Hammen. He had four very special godchildren, MaryBeth Wilson, Mike Bongers, Paula Huiting and Barbara Stave; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. You each held a most treasured spot in his heart.
    In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julie Kruse; siblings, Joseph and Cyril Bongers, Lucina (Nick) Jansen, Catherine (Martin) Schumacher, Marie (Joseph) Huiting; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emil Van Dyke, Roger Hammen, Eugene Hammen, Carl Hammen, Dr. E.J. Hoffman, Harold Vanden Huevel, Helen Bongers, Wilma Bongers and Elizabeth (Joseph) Van Thiel.
    Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. Committal St. John Cemetery.     Bernard "Beany" Bongers, Little Chute, age 94, died Thursday January 17, 2013 at Brewster Village. He was born in Little Chute on May 18, 1918 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Beany married Helen Gertrude Orth at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on April 26, 1941 where he was a lifelong member. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1983. He married Wilma Losselyong in January 25, 1986. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2002. Beany served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a 65 year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Athletics were very important to him. Beany served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for St. John High School Varsity Basketball and Football teams for several years. He was a member of the St. John Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and belonged the to Fox Valley and Ridgeway golf clubs. Beany was the President of the Bank of Little Chute until his retirement in June, 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Forestors and Little Chute Fire Department.
    Beany is survived by his children: Mike (Carol), Avon Lake, OH; Tom, Little Chute; Kay, Little Chute; Joan (Pedro) Martinez, Milwaukee; Hank (Donna), Janesville; Patti, Kimberly; and Bill, Houston, TX; grandchildren: Bill (Corinne) and Mark Bongers, Tim (Niki) Stephani, Cindy (Matt) Kuettner, Amy Stephani, Becky (Marco) Lopez, Neal and Sam Martinez, Sean Tormey, Shad and Mike Bosmans, Melinda (Keir) Anderson, Kevin and Sara Bongers; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Bongers; and special Godfriend Melissa Feldman. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition, Beany was preceded in death by his siblings: Cyril, Joseph and Orville (Barbara) Bongers, Lucina (Nick) Jansen, Catherine (Martin) Schumacher, Marie (Joseph) Huiting and Rosella (Emil) Van Dyke.

    On Wednesday, December 26th, 2007, Clarence H. Bongers, age 93, entered into eternal life with Jesus while being held in the loving arms of his daughter Patti at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born in Little Chute on November 17, 1914, to the late Martin and Antoinette (Van Domelen) Bongers and was a lifelong resident of Little Chute. Clarence married the love of his life, Marie D. Van Thiel on June 20, 1939, at St. Nicholas, Freedom. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2001, after 62 years of marriage. Their marriage, values, and religious beliefs were loving examples for their children and grandchildren. Watching daily mass and rosary along with a devotion to the Divine Mercy Chaplet, was an important part of his day. He truly loved the Lord and passed his devotion to God on to his family.
    After 42 years of service at Combined Locks Paper Mill as Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent, Clarence retired to enjoy his family. Hunting, fishing and woodworking were his favorite pastimes along with spending time with his family in his workshop. His specialty was bird houses. He was still making wren houses on December 8th for his children's Christmas gifts. A favorite card game was playing 500 Rummy, placing a lucky dollar on the game. Clarence especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends at Pickerel Lake. From a hotshot horseshoe player, to fishing for the big one, to shop projects and playing with the young ones, he had a knack for putting smiles on the kids and grandkids faces, making everyone feel special in a unique way.

Martin (Trish) Bongers, Michael (Rock) Bongers, Amy (Andy) Gaerthofner, Nic (Jenny) Bongers, Ben (Colleen) Steller, Eric (Cindi) Mathe, Brenda (Matt) Schertz, Katie Mathe, Jillian (Adam) Schuh, Allison (Kurtis), Caitlin, Andrew and Jacob DeGroot; 15 great grandchildren: Carissa, Kelsie, Kayla and Carlie Van Asten, Melissa (Chad) Gerrit, Krystine Verhagen, Scott, Claire and Jordan Wittmann, Tara (Alvinn) and Holly Carew, Autumn and Laci Bongers and Drew Gaerthofner; one great great grandchild: Lilyana Curiel-Carew; sister and brother: Verona Olson and Robert Bongers; sisters-in-law: Anna Stoffel, Claire Wolfinger, Theresa Kelly, Therese Bongers and Frances Van Thiel.
    In addition to his wife, Clarence was preceded in death by three children: Mary Jane, Dave and an infant son; infant great grandson Eli; great great granddaughter: Natalie; brothers and sisters: Ed (Laverne) Bongers, Ethel (Harry) Van Nuland, Richard (Marie A.) Bongers, Ray Bongers, Rosemary Bongers and Rosie (Bud) Apitz; sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice (Lawrence) Gonnering, Delia (Merlin) Procknow, John Van Thiel, Joe Stoffel, Ed (Jo Ann) Van Thiel, Elmer Wolfinger, Don Olson and Dale Kelly.
    Visitation will begin Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at Noon at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute). The Rev. David J. Funk, OFM, Cap. will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.

Raymond married Theresa Rooyakkers, May 29, 1947 in Kimberly. Raymond s erved in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and received an honor able discharge in 1945. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Servi ce as a letter carrier. Upon retirement, he enjoyed working at Look’s Hard ware. He treasured time with his family and grandchildren, was very involv ed always supporting them in their numerous activities.     Grace P. Vander Velden, Kimberly, age 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Little Chute on February 6, 1942 to the late Clarence and Marie (Van Thiel) Bongers. Grace married Gene Vander Velden on November 4, 1961 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Kimberly School District and in the finance department for the Village of Little Chute before taking a position with the Town of Menasha, where Grace retired as Finance Director. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish, the Church Choir, Mission Club, and a Eucharistic Minister.
    Growing up in Little Chute, she was a proud member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. When her girls were younger, Grace was a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop Leader. She and Gene were Florida 'snowbirds' enjoying the Cape Coral warmth with many good friends. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends at the cottage in Pickerel. Grace was a member of Curves and loved seeing her friends there. Her passion for sewing led to hundreds of projects, with a special talent of matching outfits for her own daughters, continuing on to her Granddaughters and their dolls! Grace's incredible and unwavering strength, her compassion for others, and her everlasting faith in God, are traits every human being should emulate.
    Grace will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Gene; daughters: Sherry Vander Velden (Karen Roaten), Fort Worth, TX and Barbara (Tom) Van Asten, Freedom; grandchildren: Carissa, Kelsie, Kayla and Carlie Van Asten; siblings: Claire (Tom) Verhagen, Tom (Mary) Bongers, Cynthia (Greg) Mathe and Patricia Bongers-DeGroot.; brother and sisters-in-law: Bonnie Vander Velden and Ken (Karen) Vander Velden; her Godchildren: Ron, Beth, Jolene, Nic and Caitlin. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her grandchild, Eli Van Asten; siblings: Mary Jane and David Bongers; and brothers and sister-in-law: Jerry and Jeff (Laurie) Vander Velden.
    Visitation will be held Monday August 25, 2014 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY CHURCH (600 E. Kimberly Ave. Kimberly) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. The Rev.     Marlene V. Friebel, "Pretty Momma 43", 67, Little Chute, went into God's loving arms, June 17, 2011, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna.
    Marlene was born on July 10, 1943, in Little Chute, daughter of Harold and Ethel (Bongers) Van Nuland. On June 3, 1964, Marlene was united in marriage to Lyle Friebel at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Marlene had many jobs that she enjoyed greatly over the years, which include: Teaching classes for the Better Breathers Group and diabetes, providing therapy for Rheumatoid arthritis patients at St. Elizabeth Hospital (pool program), working for Curves of Little Chute and Kaukauna and driving school bus for Kobussen. In her free time, she enjoyed many years camping at Brady's Pine Grove Campground and several cottages throughout the years at Legend Lake, Long Lake and Mountain. She enjoyed playing cribbage, dominos and many card games with family and frequently with her lady friends. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics and playing bugle as a bugler for funerals. However, her greatest joy was being involved in all of her children and grandchildren's activities; including following her daughter and granddaughter and many race families for years on their motocross racing series.
    In addition to her husband, Lyle, Marlene is also survived by her two children, Brian (Mindi) Friebel and Deana (special friend Dan Binder) Friebel; six grandchildren, Brandon (Krista) Friebel-Probst, Paige and Tanner "Red" Friebel, Tiffany (special friend Justin) Meyer, Stefanie Binder, and Michael (special friend Tiffany) Young; two great-grandchildren, Connor and McKenzie; three sisters, Elaine (Ron) Simpson, Donna Van Nuland and Judy (Rich) Leffel; two brothers-in-law, Ray Toonen and Merle (Donna) Friebel; three dogs, Freckles, Foxy and Fluffy; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
    Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosanne Toonen; a brother, Robert VanNuland; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Friebel.
    A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
    "Pretty Momma's" family would like to thank all the staff at the St. Paul Home, the Intensive Care Unit staff at Appleton Medical Center, and the staff at Kindred Hospital for all their wonderful care and support. Special thanks to the Leffel and Francis families for the stay at their homes while Marlene was at Kindred Hospital. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Marlene's name.

    Donna Mae Van Nuland, 64, Little Chute, went into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Donna was born on November 12, 1946, to Harry and Ethel (Bongers) Van Nuland. Over the years, Donna has worked at Sandies Cleaners, Jack's or Better, Tuckers, and currently at Rich's Baker's Outlet. One of Donna's greatest loves was Elvis Presley.
    Donna is survived by two sisters: Elaine (Ron) Simpson and Judy (Rich) Leffel; 2 brothers-in-law: Ray Toonen and Lyle Friebel; many nieces and nephews.
    Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Roseanne Toonen and Marlene Friebel; a brother, Bob Van Nuland.
    Private services were held at the family's request. A burial will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Donna's name; memorials may be forwarded to the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute, WI 54140.

    Brian K. Friebel, age 50 of Suring, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 9, 2017 following a courageous and short battle with cancer. He was born on September 27, 1966 to Lyle and the late Marlene (Van Nuland) Friebel and was raised in Kaukauna, WI. Brian served his county in the United States Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier from 1985 to 1988. He moved to the Suring area in 1997 where he met his future wife. On June 24, 2000, Brian was united in marriage to Mindi Audley at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc, WI. He was currently employed with KNT Fabrication until he became ill. Brian enjoyed driving his Harley-Davidson with his wife, Mindi, and special friends Steve and Michelle Heckl, Brian also enjoyed music, camping, fishing, utilizing his creativity (and perfectionism) in his shop at home, and playing Guitar Hero. Family, friends, and neighbors would spend time in the shop competing into the early morning hours.
    Brian is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Mindi; his children and grandchildren: Brandon (Krista) Friebel-Probst and their children: Alaric and Wyatt; Paige Friebel; Tanner Friebel; father, Lyle Friebel; sibling, Deana (Dan) Binder; father and mother-in-law, Mark (Peggy) Audley; brother and sister-in-laws, Mitch (Christina) Audley, John (Marci) Rosine; nieces and nephews: Zac (fiancée Annamarie) Rosine, Ashley Rosine, Tyler (fiancée Jamie) Audley and their child Kashton, Tiffany (Justin) Kraeger and their children Jeremiah and Kyleigh, Stefanie Binder and her children Connor and McKenzie, Michael Young and his children Roxanne and Lillian. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his unborn son; his mother, Marlene Friebel; grandparents, Harry and Ethel Van Nuland; uncles, Eugene Friebel, Bob Van Nuland; aunts, Roseann Toonen, Donna Van Nuland, Judy Leffel.
    In honor of Brian's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A private ceremony will be held. He did not want those who knew him to mourn, but rather to celebrate his life. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
    A fundraiser sponsored by Brooklyn Lanes Bar and Grill, along with Wichman's BP Gas Station, to assist the family with medical bills and expenses will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Brooklyn Lanes Bar and Grill (235 Peshtigo Brook Road, Suring, WI 54174) from 12 pm until closing.
