Seif, 1201 Kenneth Ave., Kaukauna, age 93, born February 27, 191 1, passed into eternal rest Tuesday January 5, 2005 at 12:40 AM at home, s urrounded by family members.He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia and Francis Br ux, Appleton; Theresa and Joseph E. He worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna for 40 years, retiri ng in 1973. He also owned the Cotton Patch Supper Club in Cecil from 19 63 to 1965. He was a bartender for many years in the Kaukauna area at t he Nightingale and Van Abel's Supper Club. He married the former Mary Walk er in May of 1930 in Waukegan, IL.A lifelong lover of music, Melvin encouraged his children and grandchildr en to take up musical instruments. He frequently made trips with his wi fe Mary to see orchestras and dance. They enjoyed traveling the United Sta tes and eventually bought a 40 acre parcel in Marinette County where Melv in built a cottage. Mary passed on in March of 1962. In November of 196 2, Melvin married the former Helen Van Der Horst and proceeded to bui ld a second family. They enjoyed activities like camping, hunting, trav el and again music. Helen passed on in May of 1997. Melvin was an avid car penter and spent countless hours building houses for family members, as we ll as repairing and rebuilding projects for friends. The gifts he ga ve to his family in the form of his labors will live on for years to come.Melvin's funeral service will be at Noon on Friday January 7, 2005 at S t. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Friends m ay be received at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Buri al will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, t he family has established a fund to benefit the Affinity Visiting Nurses H ospice. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the famil y. 766-2099.The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Meyer, the Affinity Visiting Nur se Staff, the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital, 4th floor south, the Affini ty Visiting Nurses Hospice, and the numerous health care professionals w ho provided the gifts of care for our beloved father.

    Florence F. (Seif) Siewert, Appleton, age 86, passed away at Appleton Health Care Center on Thursday, July 30, 2009. She was born in Hortonville on December 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Habel) Seif. Florence graduated from Hortonville High School in 1941. On August 1, 1942, she married her husband of 49 years, Howard Siewert. He preceded her in death in 1991. Flo, as she was known to many, worked for Zaugs in the lunch program at Appleton Public Schools, from 1965 until her retirement in 1996, 25 of those years at Appleton East. Many summers were spent working at the War Birds Cafe at E.A.A. Florence loved to dance, travel, and shop. Her grandchildren will always remember shopping trips with Grandma and going out to lunch. Holidays with her family were very special to Florence, especially Christmas.
    Florence is survived by two sons: Terry (Carmen) Siewert and Randy (Carol) Siewert, both of Appleton; six grandchildren: Scott (Carrie) Siewert, Deanna Siewert, Heather (Paul) Mueller, Jason Siewert, Jennifer (Pat) Salm and Travis (fiance, Miranda Lyman) Siewert; four great-grandchildren: Joshua and Allison Siewert, and Ben and Cody Mueller; brother, Claude Seif; two sisters-in-law: Mary and Ellie Seif; very special friend, Louise Roy; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Howard; her parents; four brothers: Earl, Nolan, Melvin and Joe; three sisters: Madlyn (Harry) Redzinski, Louise (Al) Wuyts and Bernice (Kenneth) Cottreill.
    The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
    The family extends a special thank you to the staffs at Fresenius Dialysis Services, Appleton Retirement Community and Appleton Health Care Center.
    A memorial fund in Florence's name is being established.

    James J. Seif, Kaukauna, Age, 78, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born on June 24, 1934 in Kaukauna, son of the late Melvin and Mary Seif. On April 19, 1952, he was united in marriage to Yvonne "Vonnie" Wichman. James worked at Thilmany's Paper Mill his entire adult life and was well known for his accordion music and his band "Jim Seif and The Rhythm Kings".
    Survivors include two sons, three daughters and their spouses, one sister, two half-sisters, one half-brother, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Yvonne, and oldest daughter, Barbara L. Szozda. He will be missed by all.
    No funeral services will be held as per his request. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home in Kaukauna is assisting the family. (766-2099)
