This same photo also appears in the 1967 Schomisch family history book. John born April 15, 1860 was the youngest son of Matthew and Elizabeth Grogan another town of Russell pioneer family from LeRoy, New York. In 1886 John's parents, Matthew and Elizabeth, sold their farm to their son John and Matthew went to Minnesota with three of his sons, while Elizabeth remained on the farm with John. Caroline Frankman born July 12, 1867) was the daughter of James Frankman and Ann "Nancy" Keenan. In 1894 John and Caroline sold their farm in Russell and bought a larger property in Stockbridge. When Caroline died in 1905 at the age of 37 she left behind 7 children ranging in age from six months to 15 years. Six years later, her husband died in 1911.
