  Joseph G. Zeegers, age 82, of Appleton, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, February 11, 2008, at Rennes Health Center. Joe was born June 9, 1925, in Kimberly, the son of the late Henry and Minnie (Kamps) Zeegers. The family later moved to Chilton where they owned and operated the Chilton Floral and Greenhouse for many years. Joe was a graduate of Chilton High School and participated in many school sports. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he moved to Appleton where he owned and operated Appleton Floral and Junction Greenhouse. He was later employed by the City of Appleton retiring in 1987. Joe will be remembered for his love of flowers and vegetable gardening (tomatoes were his specialty). He was an avid sportsman and an accomplished golfer and bowler. He enjoyed baseball and football and could quote sport's statistics from many years ago. He will be deeply missed by his 11 children: Robert Zeegers of Chicago, Linda (Thomas) Hurley of Appleton, Jean (Russell) Berggren of Hortonville, Christine (Leon) Schabow of Appleton, Mark Zeegers of Appleton, Kathy (Chuck) Spoehr of Appleton, Jeffrey Zeegers of Madison, Nancy (Cyril) Wimberger of Menasha, Paula (Todd) Mueller of Appleton, Matthew (Ann) Zeegers of Appleton, and Andrew (Shelley) Zeegers of Appleton; grandchildren: Paul (Shannon) Hurley, Shelley (Dan) VanHoff, Scott (Kim) Berggren, Jane Berggren, Steven (fiancee Christina Webb) Schabow, Kevin (Jill) Schabow, Joshua and Kristin Zeegers, Erin, Andrea, and Adam Spoehr, Alyssa Koller, Tyler Mueller, Caleb and Taylor Zeegers, Zac and Jeremy Zeegers; two great-grandchildren: Logan Schabow and Brady Hurley; brother, Paul (Cheryl) Zeegers of Madison; also several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Maureen (Danilo) Artez. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by Elaine H. Zeegers, brother Lambert Zeegers, sisters: Dorothy Golden, Gloria Verbest, and Shirley Weinert. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 16th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Military Rites will follow. Friends may call directly at the church (Sacred Heart Room) from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the entire staff of Rennes Health Center.
