Bertha M. Van Dehy, age 85, passed away on Sunday morning, March 20, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on October 11, 1925, in Burlington, WI, daughter of the late George and Susan (Heimerman) Hammes. On August 30, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Van Dehy at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Betty's love for her family and friends and her involvement in St. Francis Church & School were the most important parts of her life. In addition to being a legal secretary until her retirement, Betty led an active social life. Her involvement in Homemaker's Club and card clubs led to many lasting friendships. She was a loving wife and mother, dedicated to and supportive of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty's other interests included time spent at the cottage, collecting bird figurines, and playing cribbage with Ken. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her five children: Diane (Randy) Jarvis, Ed (Joan), Patty (Paul) Vande Voort, Jeff (Karen), and Guy (Laura); her grandchildren: Heather, Mark (Carrie), Rick (Jody), Jenny, Sarah, Jim, Sharon, Sally (Bob), Spencer (Vicky), Shaun, Samantha, Philip (Jane), Preston, Patrick, Parker, Porter, Ben, Theo, Tim, Will, Zeke, Corey, Theresa, and Tony; her great-grandchildren: Michael, Sasha, Nadia, Shelby, Blake, Eddie, Adiah, Andrew, Grace, Ashlyn, and Eli. She is further survived by her siblings: Joyce Stolga, Glenna (Ken) Kahl, Jerry Hammes, Paul Hammes, her in-laws: Marie Van Dehy, Gerri Zierler, Dorie Hammes, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding her in death were her parents, two daughters: Kathy and Janet, a son Kenneth L. Van Dehy, Jr., a grandson, Parry Vande Voort; three brothers: Erv Hammes, George Hammes, Al (Laurie) Hammes; a sister, Francie (Joe) Dirksmeyer, and a sister-in-law, Nola Hammes; her in-laws: Bud (Esther) Van Dehy, Vern (Gladys) Van Dehy, Josephine (Clarence) Kamps, Margaret (Jerome) Seaver, Marion (Bob) Van Handel, Martin Van Dehy, Jr., Jean Hildebrand, and Verlon Zierler. The Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at ST. FRANCIS CHURCH in Hollandtown with Fr. Jerry Pastors and Fr. Dave Beaudry concelebrating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Little Chute. Friends may call at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. where a prayer service will conclude the evening. Friends may call again at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
