  Ila Mae M. Slayton, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Manor Care in Appleton. She was born on May 17, 1922 to the late Arthur and Anna (DeKoch) Van Boven. She will always be remembered as a loving and giving mother and grandmother. Her passion was cooking which was reflected in delicious family get togethers and celebration feasts. Mom's love of children was expressed through caring for foster children while raising her own family. Her love was also evident with the many children who enjoyed her meals while she managed the school lunch program at St. Pius. She is survived by her children, Floyd Slayton, Cathy (Ed) Schimke, Richard Slayton, Susan (Craig) Taylor, grandsons, Chris Taylor and Andy (Rosie) Taylor as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, Sr., her parents and her sister, Vernetta Hoffmann. In accordance with Ila Mae's wishes, there will be no services. Rest in peace Mom. We love you.
