  Norbert Van Groll, 64, Little Chute, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, surrounded by his family, at Appleton Medical Center. Norbert was born June 14, 1946, in Appleton, son of the late William and Barbara (Coenen) Van Groll. He served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army. Norbert was employed by Appleton Wire Works, and then Appleton Papers until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, NASCAR, playing cards, especially sheepshead, and spending time at the cottage. Norbert was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Norbert is survived by two brothers: Roger (Beth) Van Groll and James Van Groll; two sisters: Laverne (Wallie) Squier and Janice (Allen) Schumacker; a sister-in-law, LeaAnn Van Groll; many nieces, nephews, and loving members of the late Joe and Mary Van Groll family. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dennis, and a sister-in-law, Bobbie Van Groll. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the church from 2:30 p.m. Friday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by members of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258 following mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
