  Eugene H. Verstegen, 81, Menasha, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with his wife and sons at his side. He was born March 10, 1928, in Little Chute, son of the late Edgar and Alberta (Hischke) Verstegen. Gene married Margaret Van Boogard on Jan. 11, 1958, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Gene was enlisted in the United Stated Army and served his country in the Korean War. He graduated from UW-Madison with an Engineering Degree. He was employed at Artfaire in Appleton, and then Simmons in New London. Gene was a wonderful musician. He played the saxophone and clarinet in many bands, including the Green Bay Packers Band and most recently the Geriatric Band. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; two sons, Bryan and Mark; two grandchildren, Amber and Jason; one brother, David. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. A memorial will be established.
