Jerry W. Schmidt, age 77, of Hortonville, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton. He was born November 2, 1936 in Neenah to the late William and Anne (Hanson) Schmidt. On September 10, 1960 he married Judith Zimmer. Jerry loved the outdoors, from snowmobiling up north at the cottage in his early years, to most recently, target shooting, fishing and boating. He especially enjoyed spending those times with his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judie, children; Karie (Mike) Chapman, Jodi (Ray) Sprangers and Kirt (Lisa) Schmidt, grandchildren; Maxwell (Keena) Chapman, Danielle (fiancé Jeff Maxwell) Chapman, Jessica (Josh) Kranig, Chad Sprangers, Kiara Schmidt, Kayla (Tony) Wong and Kyle Chay, great grandchildren; Kirsten and Easton Kranig, and Nolan Wong. Jerry is further survived by a brother in law, Dennis (Marilyn) Zimmer and a sister in law, Donna (Gary) Parks, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private family services were held in Jerry's honor. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and his physical therapists from Affinity Visiting Nurses, especially Ryan and Katie O.
