  Bergmann, Merlyn W. "Huntz" HortonvilleAge 71, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 30, 2003 surrounded by the love of his family, after a brief illness with pancre atic cancer. Merlyn was born on March 29, 1932 in Hilbert, Wisconsin; the son of the late Walter and Margaret (Forstner) Bergmann. On August 25th, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marian A. Wege in Stephensville. They have lived in the Township of Ellington for 44 years. Merlyn was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army in 1954-55. He was employed by Allis Chalmers for 35 years and at AC Compressor for seven years, before retiring in 1995. Merlyn was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stephensville serving on many committees. He most recently was serving his second term as church treasurer. Merlyn and Marian enjoyed many trips touring the U.S. and Canada by motorcycle. As a machinist, he enjoyed working in his shop. His hobbies included working with wood and metal, feeding the birds and squirrels and also gardening. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and making maple syrup. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life, Marian, wife of 51 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald.
