P. J. Lochman in charge. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery 'Pallbearers were Herman Maas, George VanderHeiden, John Heihne, Peter Siebers. William Eiting and Joseph Faust. Mr. Schmalz is survived by his widow, five sons. Arthur of Niagara Falls. N. Y., Ray, Loyal, Leo and Oris of this city; three daughters. Mrs.. Walter Romanesko and Mrs. William Robach of Kaukauna,- Mrs. Edward Leitzel, Appleton, two brothers, Arnold. Ironwood, Mich, Peter of Lake Park. Appleton Post-Crescent | Appleton, Wisconsin | Friday, October 07, 1921 | Page 6 KAUKAUNA MAN IS KILLED BY TRAIN AT NOON Theodore Schmalz Steps in Front of Passenger Train - - While Walking Home When crossing the track on his way home for lunch in Kaukauna, Theodore Schmalz. 62, was struck and instantly killed at-.noon^ Monday by a northbound-passenger, "train on the Wisconsin division of the Chicago and Northwestern railroad. Just a few minutes before, he had left the plant of the Moloeh-Stocker company where he was employed. The point where he attempted to cross the track is about a'quarter of a mile west of the depot and the train, enroute to Green Bay, had gathered considerable speed after leaving the station. The engineer and fireman of the locomotive were of the opinion that the man had neither seen nor-heard the approaching train as he stepped directly in front of it.
