  Havinga, Peter W., "Bill", Ph elpsFormerly of Appleton, Age 76, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 after a sho rt illness. He was born in Kimberly on January 31, 1927 to the late Pet er and Wilhelmina (Van Uden) Havinga. On May 26, 1951 he married Maria Cop s. Bill was a member of St. Mary in Phelps, Wisconsin and was formerly a m ember of St. Piux X Catholic Church in Appleton. He was a veteran of Wor ld War II, serving in the Army. Bill worked for many years at Appleton Pap ers Locks Mill and retired as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, bird watch ing and nature.He is survived by his wife, Maria; children: Wilma "Willie" Beckman, Apple ton; Thomas (Karen) Havinga, Little Chute; Tim (Charlene) Havinga and Mar ia (David) Herrmann, all of Appleton; grandchildren: Beth Beckman, Kevi n, Justin and Benjamin Havinga, Michelle, Sara and Jacob Havinga and Dav id and Brian Herrmann; sister, Betty; sisters and brothers-in-law: Nell ie Van Nuland, Father Peter Cops, Annie (Ken) Schuh, Eddy (Beverly) Cop s, Father Gus Cops, Jerry (Bea) Cops, Hank (Joyce) Cops, Margie (Paul) You ng, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preced ed in death by brothers: Henry, Gilbert and Carnie Havinga, sister, Kat ie Andrejeski, son-in-law, Bill Beckman and grandson, Shane Selig.The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 3 p.m. at St. Pi us X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., with Father Gus Cops officiati ng. The visitation will be Saturday at church from 1 p.m. until the ti me of Mass.Dad, you were a wonderful father and set an example for how we will live t he rest of our lives, love your children.
