  Calaway, Elizabeth "Bette" E .Elizabeth "Bette" E. Calaway, 100, De Pere, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 200 3. Bette was born May 11, 1903, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Lou is and Mary (Lustraten) Hurkman. She married John Calaway Sr. on June 7, 1 921, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. John preceded her in dea th on November 6, 1961. Shortly after her husband's death, Lawrence Wille ms hired her at De Pere Greenhouse. She loved her 32 years at the De Pe re Greenhouse with the Willems family. Bette was past president of Christi an Mothers of St. Boniface. She was also one of the original members and p ast president of Mid Vallee Thursday ladies. Bette helped organize the Lad ies Golf Association and was a member for thirty years at Mid Vallee. On m om's 100th birthday her family gathered with her for her celebration of li fe.Survivors include five children, Bette (Norbert) Manders, Allouez; Joan (D onald) Hogan Geyer, Sally (Jack) Kellerman, Dave (Mary) and Dick, a ll of De Pere; one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Calaway, De Pere; several gra ndchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; she is fur ther survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.Bette was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, John Jr.; so n-in-law, Dick Hogan; foster son, John Schmidt and his wife, Catheryn; t wo brothers and four sisters.Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Dr. Alloue z, Friday Sept. 12, 2003, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Mass of Ch ristian Burial will be celebrated Friday at the church at 11 a.m. with Fat her Paul Demuth as celebrant. Burial will take place in the Lawrence Cemet ery.
