Fred grew up in Clinton ville and his mother, Rita, was a daughter of Johanna Bradina and Jose ph Vanderlinden. As far as genealogy goes I have just finished updati ng my Samz line. We were luck to find a fellow in Canada who came from t he same part of the Czech Republic as the Samz family. He is translati ng two books from that area and one is the Memorial Book for the village w here Fred's great grand father Johann Samz was the mayor prior to comi ng to the US in 1868. Johann Samz settled in Manitowoc County, actually T wo Rivers. Then I have also been working on my lines which are all Southe rn -- Clarks, Towns, McLendon, Dixon, Harrison, Bass, and Walden primaril y. My great grandmother Clark is the one who got me started in genealog y. I heard stories about her and decided I wanted to learn more about he r. For one thing, she hid her white horse from Sherman's men when he marc hed through GA but taking him down into a gulley and staying with him ti ll they got through the area. Pretty spunky! Mom said she was a short r ed haired lady who loved to dance a jig and drink a little toddy every n ow and then. Well, hope I'm not boring you.
