Arvin Halbach, age 84, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, October 4, 200 6, at his home. He was born June 17, 1922, in Mt. Calvary son of the la te Bill and Hilda (Buechel) Halbach. Arvin married Dorothy Salm on July 1 0, 1945, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. He served in the United S tates Army Air Force during World War II as a B-17 Gunner. His crew was sh ot down over Germany on January 17, 1944, and was taken as a POW before be ing released on May 5, 1944. Arvin was a member of Good Shepherd Cathol ic Church, the Chilton American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four children: Judy (Tom) Campbe ll of Colorado Springs, CO; Steve Halbach of New Berlin; JoAnn (Allen) Fri tschel of West Bend; Sandy (Charles) Hart of Grafton; eight grandchildre n; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Katie) Halbach of Mt. Calvar y; a sister, Mary (Jerry) Augustine of St. Nazianz; and a sister-in-law, E rna Halbach of Mt. Calvary.Arvin was also preceded in death by four brothers: Kenny, Jim, Emil, and B ill Jr.Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Go od Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton with the Rev. Loren Nys officiatin g. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at Wieti ng Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 to 7 p.m.p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006 and on Tuesday at the Church from 10:30-11 :30 when services will be held.
