  Mary Anne Holzer Trautmann, 92, died peacefully at her home in The Plains, VA, on September 30, 2013. She was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on July 22, 1921. Married for 64 years, her husband, John R. Trautman preceded her in death in 2007. After their marriage under crossed swords at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, MD in 1943, Ensign Trautmann promptly went to war in the Pacific. Thus began Mrs. Trautman's long journey as a Navy wife. Mary Trautmann and her family lived in numerous locations from Florida to Virginia to California to Hawaii, with many places in between. She was a wonderful and caring mother. Survivors include a daughter, Linda T. Sullivan (John) of Friendship, MD and a son Thomas S. Trautman (Elizabeth) of The Plains, VA; and a sister, Barbara H. Farnum of Appleton, Wisconsin. Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive her. One grandchild, Brett O. Trautman, predeceased her in 1988. Mary was very fortunate to have two excellent caregivers to assist her during the last part of her life, allowing her to remain at home comfortably. The Hospice of the Rapidan was also very valuable. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Rapidan 1200 Sunset Lane, Culpeper, VA 22701. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent on Oct. 19, 2013
