  Wilbert Charles Louis St. John, Appleton, passed into his Heavenly Home on March 30, 2007, suddenly and very unexpectedly of natural causes. His life's journey began in a one-room log cabin near Big Falls, Wis. on June 26, 1915. His loving parents were Harvey L. St. John and Sophia Conradt St. John. In 1940, Bert married the beautiful Evelyn E. Hampel St. John and they had almost 65 extraordinary years together. Evelyn passed into her Heavenly Home on Feb. 10, 2005. After Bert's military service as a flight instructor during World War II, they had two very devoted daughters, Cheryl R. St. John Hecker, Green Bay, Wis.; and Karen K. St. John, Stillwater, Minn. Bert enjoyed his two sons-in-law, Wally G. Hecker and the late Robert J. Gobrick, who he missed deeply these last eight years. His grandchildren include Robert J. Hecker and wife, Susan; and Elizabeth Hecker. Friends may join the family at 4 p.m. before the memorial service at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel. Pastor Paul Brinkman of Faith Lutheran Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family is sponsoring a research fund for peripheral neuropathy, a very painful condition that Bert endured for years. Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer 606 N. Oneida St.
