  Harold Haberman, age 93, Appleton, formerly of Menasha, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, at his home. He was born April 23, 1915, in Appleton, son of Ferdinand and Magdalena (Finkler) Haberman. Harold married Veda Steffeck in 1939 and she preceded him in death in 1984. He was employed at George Banta Publishing Company for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1977. Haby was a member of Ridgeway Country Club since 1945 and Neenah Menasha Elks Lodge #676. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #38, Appleton. He was an avid Cubs and Packers fan. Mr. Haberman is survived by his children: Marc (Cherryll) Haberman, Los Gatos, California, and Amy Haberman, Santa Cruz, California; a grandson, Jason Haberman, Oregon; a sister, Delores Haferbecker, Milwaukee. Harold was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Audenby. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the Kessler Funeral Home with Rev. Michael L. Ingold officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. A memorial has been established for AseraCare Hospice. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staffs and caregivers at Appleton Retirement Center and AseraCare Hospice for their care and compassion for Haby.
