  Clarence J. Hein Appleton Age 81, died on Monday, April 16, 2001, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a short illness. Clarence was born on November 6, 1919, in Appleton, son of the late Martin and Helen (Tennie) Hein. He married Mary Ermers on April 11, 1944, and together they have enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Clarence retired from Mid-Tec in 1982, where he was employed as a mill worker. He loved fishing, golfing, bowling and gardening. Clarence will be greatly missed by his wife Mary; three daughters, Patricia Berg and companion John Jenkel; Dianne (David) Dexter; and Mary Sue (Brian) Lee, all of Appleton; four brothers, Thomas Hein, La Crosse; Florian (Rita) Hein; Jerry (Mary) Hein and Merlin (Ann) Hein, all of Appleton; three sisters, Delores Dexheimer; and Marie (Robert) Ferron, both of Appleton; Alice (Jerry) Plog, Green Bay; three granddaughters, Nancy (Jeremy) Schabow, Hartland, Wisconsin; Allison and Andrea Lee, both of Appleton; three grandsons, Thomas Dexter, Rochester, Minnesota; Jonathan Dexter, Taylor, Michigan; and Daniel Dexter, El Paso, Texas. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Estella Hein; his brother-in-law, Harvey Dexheimer; his sister-in-law, Dorie Hein; and his son-in-law, Gary W. Berg. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday, April 19, 2001, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to benefit cancer research.
