Ralph E. Welter 1340 W. Franklin St., Age 79, passed away Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m. following a lengthy illness ne was born March 27, 1894 in Freedom and had been an Appleton resident for the past 28 years where he was employed with the Wisconsin Michigan Power Company for 14 years, until his retirement in 1958 He was a member of St John United Church of Christ and Waverly Lodge no. 51 F & AM. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the army. He was a former member of the American Legion of Kaukauna, with whom he had Emma Grimmer Welter; formerly of Kaukauna, with whom he they had celebrated their 53rd. wedding Anniversary; a son, Harold, Appleton, two brothers, George, Woodale, Ill., Ben, Leigh Acres, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Schlender, Roseburg, Oregon; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David; and a daughter, Betty; three brothers, Harry, Frank, and Lester. Complete funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Friday at St. John United Church of Christ with Rev. Bharat Bhooshan officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 2 until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 until 10 a.m. on Friday and after 10:30 at the church until the hour of service There will be Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
