  Baier, Earl B. Earl B. Baier, "Shorty" of Neenah, age 69, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2004 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oconomowoc, WI on May 30, 1935, the son of Louis and Edna (Nass) Baier. On February 14, 1995 he was united in marriage to Darlene Mericle. Earl had a heart of gold, and was always there when you needed him. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He leaves behind his wife, Darlene; daughter, Terri (Brian) Paul of Neenah; son, Randy (Nora) Baier of Appleton; four wonderful grandchildren: Jesse, Tyler, Taylor, and Taite; two brothers, Robert (Bernice) Baier of Menominee Falls, WI and Ray (Audrey) Baier of Colorado; two sisters, Irene Schmidt of Oregon, WI and Dorothy Glaser of Appleton. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene and Howard; sister, Delores; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Anna Mericle; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edna and Peter Derkes; sister-in-law, Beverly Klinker; and two brothers-in-law, Orville Glaser and Edward Schmidt. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Earl's name. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Affinity Hospice and the staff of the Hematology / Oncology Department at St. Elizabeth's. Valley Funeral Home 2211 N.
