Mr. and Mrs. Robert Niesen are home in Kaukauna after being contestants on a national TV network show. Hundreds of Kaukauna housewives and others watched the Niesens appear for three days on the "Big Payoff" recently. They were in New York for an insurance convention. The couple was selected after they attended a performance of the same show one afternoon where they filled out a questionnaire about themselves and were chosen on the basis of that card.
We were told to keep looking forward as you never know when the camera will be on you. We were not told as to what the questions were about. Mrs. Niesen had nothing but praise for the hostess, Bess Myerson and emcee, Bob Paige. Bob correctly answered the three preliminary questions but did not know the correct name of the 1921 Nobel Prize winner in literature, who used the pen name of Anatole France. The answer was Jacques Anotole Thibault. Prizes won, included three dresses, six pair of shoes, jewelry, perfume, luggage, a blouse, six pair of gloves, a negligee, a dinette set, a kitchen range, a set of electric cookware, a pressure cooker and a Dutch oven.
